In my current Night Goblin Army I'm going to run 2 units of 20 Night Goblins w/ Short Bows. My question is, should I be running them in 10x2 blocks to maximize my shots, or should I run them in 5x4 blocks?

Thanks for your thoughts!

5x4 proably. Those shots wont be doing much anyway, with only 16" range.

I run them 10*2, then reform them 5*4 when something gets too close :p
Since they're also, usually, the units that have the fanatics, it also expands the effective area covered by them :p
But yeah, they aren't very good to begin with. If only they could take a magic banner w/o having to have a BSB...

Night Gobbos with short bows will die anyway when charged, whether they're in 10*2 or 4*5 formation. Might as well keep them wide to get more shots in.

Are you using them to guard your flanks? Then 2x10.

They're not so weak that they can never widstand (sp?) a light cavalry charge, and those appear to be the most regular enemies of my bowgobs.

It really depends on where you have them compared to the rest of the army and if a large target is near them. If you have something large approaching, its always 5x4. Also, alot of units cant overcome static CR on their own, like light cavalry, in which case 5x4 is also favorable. Other units will crush you regardless of your ranks, so having a 10x2 formation is better. Dont forget you can easily change from a 5x4 to a 10x2 and vica versa, and still shot with a -1 to hit (or with no modifiers if WE!!).
