I feel it's worth pointing out that the presence of a barbed Hierodule in 2000pts means that game has been broken considerably. You know they can't be used in games of less thatn 3000pts?

But to answer your question, I would recommended a Seer Council. He can't ignore the Fortune Invulnerable saves, and Witchblades shouldn't struggle to wound him.

are we talking IA barbed hierodule or apocalypse hierodule??

the apocalypse one can dish out alot but with his stat line cant take alot. Bright lances or heck even witchblades should deal with him fine.

in 2000pts gargantuan creatures are permission only, so if you don't want to fight it, tell him you won't.

But assuming you do, then you're in trouble. The restriction to big games is because of this. You'll need bright lances (karak missiles are AP3, whats the save of the heirodule? IA:A has 3+ but I assume you're using the anphelion project). At toughness 8, nothing can realistically hurt it in close combat, not without going 'smoosh' for the exchange of a wound if you're lucky.

Your best bet is 9 war walkers with 2 BL's each. Since I doubt you have that, You'll need every shooty option you can get all decked out with as many BL's as you can.

Of course they can be taken both Barbed & Scythed Heirodules are heavy support choices for a Tyranid army.

If it's using IA 40K rules you need ordanance weapons to take the mass points off, if it's a Apoc version then brightlances & witchblades along with Doom/Fortune should do the trick.

Perhaps a Unit of Fire dragons with Guide and Doom to finish it off

You do realize, that Gargantuan Creatures are immune to instant death, right?

Yeah, they would cause more wounds, but you could get more wounds to stick with Brightlances or Fire Dragons.

Hey, if it's a barbed hierodule then it's apoc and you can take whatever you want. ;)

(But you're right, I just read the title and the fact that over the last week that bad boy has killed two of those monsters it immediately jumped to mind.)

I was thinking of the number of wounds they would cause at 2+!

Fire Dragons and Harlequins. Problem solved.

Fire dragons, harlequins, and wraithguard are all passable BH killers, as is anything with a brightlance...

...but for sheer economy of points and uber-killy-deathness, I'd go with a fully kitted-out seer council. Fortune + Doom + a boat-load of wychblades = dead just about anything.

i would take an eldar titan if he is taking a hierodule. give it pulsars. that gives you 4 str D templates. (of course you might not have one:rolleyes:)

Just buy a gundam or EVA model kit thats about 10" high and you have yourself an eldar titan...

A friend at my local gaming store used a Gundam and some bits, and made a pretty awesome custom Super Heavy.

I got mine killed in one turn by 6 charging harlequins... that... really... hurts. :(

now I always take 10 reaper bases surrounding the big guy´s base for protection.

Can people stop offering apocalypse suggestions please? We are talking about 2000pt games.

It'd be fitting to at least take Prince Yriel in your force, after all, he rose to fame from fighting the nids.

Failing that, Wraithguard for the sheer amounts of Ap1 wounds they can dish out. Or harlequins, even in the new edition they'll be highly effective.

How would Shining Spears go? Those Laser Lances are nasty (though I don't know the stats for them, rarely having even seen them, let alone played against them).

Fire Dragons, Avatar, Vipers with bright lances, Distort Cannons would be good, and Vibro Cannons have great range.

Warp Spiders have S6 weapons and can get off a lot of shots.

Fire Dragons and warlocks could cause him problems

the Warlocks get their 4+ inv save rune armor, which when fortuned makes them very tougth against monsterous creatures and the witchblades wound on 2's

Farseer + Doom.....

Wraithguard? Dragons? Prisms? The 24 shot Scatter Laser War Walker unit of death?

Warp Spiders could work, pumping out lots of shots is bound to cause at least a couple of wounds,
