We've had some people brag about some cheap deals they've scored. How about the opposite.
What's the most money you've ever spent on a single model. I need a little help loosing some buyer's remorse. No tanks, monstrous creatures, forgeworld, etc.... Just a basic, unpainted, GW, 40K, infantry sized model still in the blister.

What's got me all worked up? $29.50 for this Inquisitor.

in 40k it would be a chaos terminator lord 14 years ago it was 30$ and was bigger than the base yet one solid piece of metal
in Lotr it would be a balrog

Nothing special. I just remember the assault marines in 2nd edition being sold in individual blisters. Can't remember the price, but it was fairly steep (for me at least) at the time. My ambition was to end up with a ten man squad, but i don't think i even ended up with 5. Oh well hehe.

Hmm... most expensive single model for 40k? Uh, none I suppose (I loves my big box deals and ebay) though I did pay 40 bucks for a White dwarf subscription and got the same model as you Max the dog.

This is any easy one for me.
I bought the Black Library figure for the BA captain Leonatos a few years ago.
The "yellingswordpointingwhileclimbingthestairs" one.
$70 bucks Canadian...yikes...one schweet lookin' figure, even though I play DA...

FW Great Unclean One, saved up a while for it, and i was actually suprised at how big it was. Was my first FW miniature and it was also a joy to paint, definitly a good buy imo.

25$ on a Tau commander. Yep, the most I've spent on a single infantry style model.

Torga_DW

Yeah, the model looks pretty cool max, very van helsing. And i think its a rarish model too, so may be worth more on ebay in the future.

Quite so. Inquisitor Lorr (also spelled Lore) has tall boots, a long coat, some sort of balaclava, a tattered, floppy hat, and is holding a long-barreled, archaic-looking plasma pistol in his free hand. Impressive model, and a limited release.

25€ for the female commissar.
I was prepared to bid 50€ for the unreleased Mordian plasmagunner, but had to see that dream pass me by, it went for over 60.

As for Lorr: he's basically the same mini as the regular Witch hunter, but with a plasma pistol and a bionic arm instead of the standard inferno pistol and sword. Got him for 13€ here on the forums.

Forgeworld Chaos Dragon - $660 or 560 cdn after tax cause at the time, the cdn price was adjusted badly, and I didn't know my wife (my wife is from UK, so now, we get stuff there and have it sent to me..MUCH cheaper) and there wasn't one on ebay.

Forgeworld Abaddon - $350

Magnificient Egos Great Collossal dragon - $245 or whatever it cost.. (yes, the one that is 2 feet tall!!!) www.itscolossal.com

Forgeworld Fire Dragon, Forgeworld Bloodthirster, FW Great Unclean One, FW Keeper of Secrets

Ral Partha D&D Great Red Dragon limited edition (#0954 or so/5000) - $120 on ebay.

@Max the Dog - Don't worry I bought the Gideon Lorr model on eBay recently.... for 29 pounds (about $60 Aus). :o Adding on shipping and insurance it cost me something like $79 Aus.

Since the model turned up only occasionally on the net, and I had been wanting it for ages, I let buyer's greed catch me up and put in a high amount to win it.

The saddest/most d'oh-worthy part was that while I bid on that one, another auction for the same model from the US, finished about 10 minutes later and went for about 20bucks cheaper, then a third popped up and went for 10bucks less again.

St Celestine, at normal GW retail. However, I don't play Witch hunters, and can't paint well enough to do the model justice....

It was bough for my then girlfriend who has Sisters of battle. I can't remember quite how the argument started, but I'm sure it was something to do with that model. Cost me far more than money.

Ignoring my FW stuff and large models (I did read the OP, unlike some replies ;)) I think the most expensive fig I've bought still in blister has been the LE Emperor's Champion, for which I paid £25. He's on the top row in this gallery: http://www.ageofstrife.com/gallery/Spack15 along with a number of other figs which I'll likely not be selling (unless I'm really desperate for money at some point in the future)

As to the Gideon Lorr fig you bought Max, it is nice. I was fortunate enough to pick mine up from my local GW, off the shelf, for £7 as they had 1 weekend where they were selling that fig in the GW shops.

I paid £20 for Da Gamez Day Nob ('http://www.solegends.com/citle/citle2000/GamesDay/gd1998DaNob.htm') off eBay a while back. Pretty steep, but I love the model.

I've seen some people pay crazy money for unreleased stuff on eBay - I seem to recall an unreleased Chaos Terminator going for over £100!

FW BloodthirsterWould be mine as well. As everybody else (bar Spacker and a few others) seems to be ignoring the OP I will too.

For a single GW model it would be the first one I brought, a SM Termie Chaplin, I've needed loads of them to go with it so its costs me hundreds in models, paint and glue.

Seriously though it would be a Nurgle Daemon Prince at £20. I had to buy it new, direct from GW, something I very rarely do.

I don't know really. I usually buy lots of stuff and then convert them together, so I don't really have any single model that costed me much when I bought it. In infantry I think it's a tie between a $20-30 Reaper miniatures Sofie that I got as a Chaos assault marine and a ~15€ Rackham wolfen that I got as a Fiend. For vehicles, it's the new Vindicator that I just had to get for my Chaos army as I love the model.

Seeker of Slaanesh.... I dont want to post how much 5 cost me....
I have 14 at the moment and plan to get 3 more. Woe me. But to tell the truth, thanks to GW's pricing, I got them cheaper. Back then £10 ~ 14€ while GW's own pricing puts them at 11.50€. That with some stores selling GW stuff at a constant discount, I'm paying less than 10€ for a pop. But still, 17 Seekers at ~10€ a piece...

$29.50...is that including shipping? If that includes shipping, you didn't get ripped off. That's about the median for Lorr on eBay lately. Lorr on eBay can get to up to like $35 - $45 before tax. I have one, been trying to pick up another cheap. So if anyone wants to sell me one for like $15-20, I'll gladly take it (even if he's not in blister - as long as he's undamaged/converted).

As for actually on-topic, I don't think I've ever spent that much on a 40k figure in a blister.

Out of blister, there's a Gyrinx some person was selling in a bag of lead from other manufacturers included. I thought I'd win it for like $5. Not to be, I guess some sharp-eyed GW buyer spotted it. Final price was like $40, which wasn't bad considering I got like 100 models, but considering I only wanted the Gyrinx, I paid entirely too much.

There's some blisters in a local hobby store (we don't have yer fancy big city GW stores), costing 11.50€ a pop. All the online stores that I've bought them from are Finish, so there might be a language barrier let alone that they probably don't ship abroad. But, if you like, I can see about finding some and shipping them to you at 11.50 a pop + shipping, which isn't that expensive. Better hurry, as all the store are running out of them (good planning from GW, make an army that uses them and then pull them from the shelves).

If anyone is intereted in an old Pink Horror (those weird walking heads) command blister, I know where to find one of them as well. Would cost probably 10€ + Shipping.

The Sgt C I have who isn't in blister I got off eBay for £3.50 along with another model - it was undercoated black, and the auction was for "Babylon 5 Spaceship + figure" and the other model in the auction was a Mimbari ship from the B5 range which it appeared noboby wanted, although it was clear from the photo that it was Sgt C (albeit with the backpack banner pole broken off, but I have spares of those) and I was the only bidder :D It was pure luck I stumbled across it.

Mine isn't a figure. The most expensive model I've ever bought is the FW Thunderbolt, After tax and shipping it was $185. The kit quality was OK. It needed a lot of reshaping and sanding plus it came from the factory with a strange rubbery film covering most of the parts that wouldn't come off with degreaser so I had to sand every surface that was to be painted.

The most expensive figure - well, not a single figure per se, but a pair of characters as a single choice. I'm talking Ursarker Creed and his faithful sidekick Jarran Kell.

First of all, they'd somehow managed to jack up the price to $38 AUS before I got around to buying the dude. Then, I couldn't find him in any GW stores. So I had to mail-order him in.

$43 AUS later, and I have a pair of models I only really break out for the big important games (as I believe special characters should be reserved for).

On a somewhat related note, I know this isn't exactly the most expensive model, but it does relate to the idea of this thread. A few years ago, I had just finished buying my Demolisher (#75 AUS at the time).

No sooner had I finished putting it together, than my friend suggests we go down to a local store and play some games of 40k. While over there, we take a look at some of the secondhand models for sale. In there, for around $35 each, are a trio of Leman Russ tanks, one of which is a demolisher. I'm not big on secondhand models (something about the dodgy poses/paintjobs on numerous eBay auctions scares me), but this demolisher was perfect. The only thing I would have done would be to pull off the pintle stubber. Anyways, while I stand there dumbfounded at my recent departure of money, my ork-playing friend grabs himself a demolisher for half the price, and orki-fies himself a tank that I would come to fear in many battles to come..........

EDIT - I forgot to mention the demolisher was also UNPAINTED when he bought it. Damn orkses...

Winged Tyrant from FW - current exchange puts it at about $85 USD (wow i so guessed that, then checked and it is like $85.87 lol) i payed about $105 for it a few months back with a worse exchange

I am strongly considering paying about $80 for the German limited edition WFB Tzeentch sorcerer on disk.

Are your Liber Chaoticas the LE version or the regular printing?

I will settle for regular printings. The LEs go for stupid money. I am also looking for Realm of Chaos: Lost and the Damned and Slace to Darkness.

Good luck. Last time I saw one of them, it was on Amazon going for around £115. I got my soft cover Liber Chaotica from an online bookstore. On sale. So not a bad deal at all.

Blistered Infantry? Never above standard retail.

Most expensive model?
GW, A FW thunderbolt. @ 75 pounds.

Non GW, a Tamiya 1:35 remote control Tiger 1, with a large bits order to get all the parts needed for the project, to turn it into a remote control Macharius. About 110 pounds, all in.

(US $) I'm not even close to the top but the original Armorcast Baneblade was over $100 when I got it. The Trygon conversion I got off eBay for around $70 is my recent high point. I've done pretty well on other items while still being a bit pricey for single items because I'm patient(cheap). Around $30-40 each for the following when I got them: Centurius, Armorcast Mole, Leonatos, current web deal Vet Sgt.

while I don't have one, I can easily say that the most expensive infantry model available is Sergeant Cenarius. It was a limited run for the opening of GW's 100th store in 199(3?). They easily go on ebay for over $100, although (even GW's commented on this) the majority of them are forgery casts, as they were so few actually produced.

Most expensive model I've ever bought was the Tzeentch sorcerer on disc, the promo version that was only available in Germany and Italy for GWs 10th anniversary. I'm too ashamed to say how much I paid for it. Lets just say that it sells on ebay for roughly £80 ( $160 ).

Paid about $40 for a sister stern model from the LE black library release.

I don't pay for painted models (just can't pay over $100 no matter how nice.. just out of my rationalization range...)

I have lots of the expensive collector stuff but sister stern is my most expensive table infantry.

LOL, I received that Inquisitor for free one time for placing a large order. It wasn't a promotion or anything, sometimes I just get a random fig and it has a little thank you for your business letter with it and that happened to be the figure. He converted nicely into a Witch Hunter in my Empire Army (counts as a unit champion).

Seriously though, it is an awesome model, and I probably would have paid $30 for it as well if I couldn't find it.

PondaNagura

single figure, all parts included...probably one of the special characters like lamartes.
most other characters i have were either bought as gifts, or i retrieved them from this one place that considered a packless model (whether it be fancy winged jumppack, or apothecary) like Lord Dante or Corbulo as bargain-bin ($2 each, not joking).

otherwise maybe the old metal dreadnought if vehicles count.

Macharius for £85 I believe... though a commission I'm getting done for me may soon beat it (including shipping...)

Just noticed no tanks - it would either be an Ultraforge treelady (£30+) or the skullz banner bearer for the Ultramarines (I didn't actually buy it myself, but it was a gift for me). Again, around £30.

I got that Deamon Hunter mini WITH an issue of WD, total coming to $10 canadian for the WD and the figure. It was part of a raffle/stock blowout day, so there were deals galore.

I ended up trading him online for an 8 man squad of metal scouts, as well as 2 meltaguns and a sprue of hard to find SM weapons.

some Helldorado minis cost and arm and a leg (up to £16), though i consider the Amina Tactics models to be worse value for money (at £7 each). obviously though, these are small models and much bigger one's cost more, but value for money they are the most expensive.

i bought a limited edition Dire Troll Extreme Edition for PP for i think £45, again a lot of money for the size of the model.
