View Full Version : looking for advice on Pre-Heresy Death Guard question

Hey, im looking for advice on how to paint an off-white color because I am about to start a pre heresy Death Guard army and I am trying to make my guys look good with an off white color, in one of the horus heresy books it was mentioned that they had a white-marble color too, I keep trying different mixes, with rotting flesh, fortress grey, washing with browns... and I dont like the result of any of my techniques, I am finding it hard to paint a flat white using GW paints, they always turn out bumpy and with alot of texture, anyways the trim is going to be catachan green with a camo green highlight, also do you guys think it would be hard to convert pre heresy Death Guard minis out of the forgeworld plague marines? the only problem I would have with that are the bloated bellies but the helmets are what I really need.
and I apologize if I posted this in the wrong area...

have you tryed foundation paints? "deheneb stone" works superb for this job IMO , just paint the whole mini with that color and then use some skull white over it! foundation paints works wonders!!

I have tried dheneb stone and I am ok with the look, but if anyone has the WD issue..not sure which one it was but it had 7 PH death guard terminators (inluding Typhon) that were converted by Dave Taylor and I am trying to make my guys look as much like those as possible, the color them is more of pale off white and less of a brown color.
you can see them here, just scroll down, you will find it.
