Finally the colour scheme returns. Yeah! I love it. I can already se the Carnifex this way.

Ah, such an improvement!

You know, in a strange, nostalgic kind of way I miss the 2nd Edition colour scheme... you know, "cover the models in as many different colours as possible!" syndrome!

I guess I'm a minority here :)
I actually like the pale scheme better.

That one looks really disturbing. As if it was flayed.

I like both schemes personally although this one is a little too... well... red... the detail seems more clear with the pale colour scheme. I just don't like the red detailing (talons, horns, hooves etc) of the pale colour scheme.

What I particularly like about this picture is that it doesn't show the bone sword and lash whip - it provides a nicely painted clear picture of a Tyrant with the 'traditional' scything talons + gun.

Hopefully this'll go some way to placate all those who judged the new Hive Tyrant "too human looking".

Nice find Marty. :)

I like the "albino" color scheme more, personally. I've never been a fan of Red/Turqoise BfM tyranid colors.

I wonder how that tyrant would look in my hive fleet colors... (neon green skin, purple carapace)... time to fire up photoshop :D

The White/Purple scheme only comes into it's own on the medium sized metal 'Nids, such as the Lictor and the Zoanthrope and the Genestealers. Possibly the Carnifex too. However, the Hive Tyrant and the Brood Lord fits better in the Red/Shadow Grey theme. The Brood Lord almost looks good in that one.

Wow, that must be an amazingly good paint scheme to live up to that claim!

Damn, how much change can a colour scheme swap and a weapon switch do? I really like this incarnation of the tyrant. Remove the nosebone and it looks really good.

The codex also has a Carnifex painted in this colour scheme it looks lovely.

I like Barbed strangler better in this picture as well although I'll probably use a VC on him and save the BS for the fex.

Must agree this blue/black/red dooes look good but my own scheme of bone/black/purple is so simialr to the GW scheme its spooky. Never a fan of the 2nd ed multi colour schemes TBH my personal fave is the 3rd ed rulebook purple/red scheme.

Wow the memories flood back. With this new pic man it pains me that I dont have em yet. I am going to convert 2 of my old 2nd Ed. tyrants to be tyrant guard for the first one of these.

Crap I'm going to end up getting over 6 of these to help the expansion of my lists I just know it.

Has anyone seen the Battleforce (http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=Individual&code=99120106008&orignav=10) yet? I must say it looks like a great deal, especially having a carni in there as well!

Yup, price wise it looks really tempting. Only problem is that I'll already have about 150 gaunts and 40 genestealers when I receive the army deal. Oh well, you can never have to many of the small bugs can you? :D

Nice, altough sadly enough in the albino colour scheme. I'm looking forewarth to see the stealers in alternative colors.

The colourscheme IMHO is actually worse than the albino version, however what it does is shows off the tyrant in a new light. The head i still dont like, i think the model could have been brillient if they had gone with the kinda head seen on the front of the old nid codex. The scything talons im warming to but i think i still prefer the old nid venom cannon.

Over all im beggining to warm to the new nid range, i still object to some of the frankly slack sculpting (see- zoanthrope) but the new big bugs have caught my attention as potential coolnesses.

I think that red is too bright, and I'm not a fan of the BfM paintscheme either. I guess I'd prefer a slightly more subtle tone. I might paint mine up in 2nd ed blue-purples, but I'm not sure. I don't want sometihng that looks like it's had a makeover on "Pimp my ride"...

One must be colour blind to like the red-blue colour scheme, since blue and red does NOT match. (if colour blind red and blue seem greyish, and as such, way better as a colour scheme)

Really. I'm colour blind. It depends on the kind of colour blindness you have. Looks fine to me, I see the red and the dark tones. I would like to see this red style with a black carapace. I find the high contrast paint styles really show off the sculpts. The pale colour low contrast thing does not show the contour lines and that is I think the problem with it. I'm using a dark green almost black carapace with dark flesh tones for the main body.

Group question. Could people link or post up some of their paint jobs on the previous nid's? I'm looking for some inspiration for the new bugs. I want to see what you guys have. You seem to have a serious attitude about this force so I am sure you have some quality work to show.

Thanks.

If you want to see pictures of nids please start a thread in P&T or visit a Tyranid specialist site like Warpshadow.

This is OT for the topic on hand.

It isn't so bad I think. It's not the best color scheme around, but it looks quite nice. The red flesh and blue armour have a high enough contrast to each other. It might be not the best scheme I've seen, but it's definitely better than the albino scheme which is standard trough the releases now. That white skin is just too... bright.
