So I am a Newb, I have seen some people talking about the parry rule (+1 to armor with HW and Shield), but I cannot seem to find it in my rulebook.

Note that it's not actually called the Parry rule, just that that's what we call it for speed of typing.

I thought the short form was HW&S?

So did I. I don't usually see it refered to as the Parry rule, not even sure I'd pick up on it if you used it in that way.

I usually call it the "sword and board" bonus.

I love how we come up with goofy names for rules that GW didn't bother to name. Like the "torrent of fire" in 40k too.

parry could be a cross over with mordheim, oh how that game warms my heart

There is a parry rule in Mordheim, but it works a bit differently (making enemy to reroll one succesful to-hit roll). And you could get it for sword or buckler, but not for shield.

IIRC, didn't Tyrion have a special Parry rule in the 6th Edition?

Had to check the 6th ed HE book - Tyrion seems to have a special rule called Riposte, though in the description there is also talk about parrying.
