Just wondering how turning to face (you know, the manouver that take 25% movement and you look to left/right or rear) works with cav bases?

Its easy enough with infantry or turn to rear but what about left/right?

You basically rearrange the models to face 90 degrees to the side with exactly as wide a frontage as the unit had ranks (partial or full).

Usually this manouver is followed by a redressing of ranks or a return manouver after the move. In those cases don't worry about it too much. Otherwise you'll have to rearrange all the models according to those rules, even if it is bothersome.

Just think of rotating the horses in pairs (so two horses side by side effectively become one 50x50 mm element).

^^^ That's not a turn.

Turning 90 degrees with cavalry will result in a unit twice as long as it was wide. Keep the centre of the unit the same.

Exactly like this, so a formation of 2 Ranks of 5 models will become 5 Ranks of 2 models...

Also, as Atrahasis says, it is important to keep the "center" of your unit fixed.

Specially with Cavalry, the above can cause debate sometimes, just avoid the cheddar and do not use it to get advantage over your enemy (i.e, 2x6 turning to 6x2 undead Cavalry with nasty character ending too close to the enemy after the "turn" maneuver and then moving-charging by a spell effect)
