Ok a few things first: sorry if the title is misleading, this isn't a thread about a remote control stompa (unfortunately :D) also if this is the wrong place to post this let me know.

I want to make a scratch built stompa for my Ork army, but browsing other stompa pics I have found barely any have legs that look like they can actually stomp... or they are too long and they look like they are gonna overbalance. I want a kind of squat design, like a real ork.

maybe it's me just not accepting that the Orks only called it a Stompa cause the name sounded cool.

anyway, has anyone seen any pics of well modelled stompas with realistic walker legs. or can anyone tell me where or how to position the legs to create a good effect?

thanks in advance

You may find this video taken from the old GW game Final Liberation usefull:

It shows how a stompy gargant moves, which is a start at least.

I always loathed the Final Liberation interpretation of Gargant movement. It just seem odd at best.

Ein's Stompa is a wonderful example of what it sounds like you are looking for: http://warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148486&highlight=stompa .

Here's a link to my Stompa, that looks like it can actually STOMP! It's still W.I.P., but it should help give you an idea of what you can do given the right inspiration.

i always liked the idea of a gargant on treads for that very reason. The odd movement and legs of a stompa's weird... trash can leg things :wtf: never appealed to me, i'd rather have a Gargan Squigoth and just claim it as a gargant

Now I've always run under the assumption that the Gargant/stompa legs are concealed beneath the huge skirt which houses weaponry, Grotz, Meks and any Boyz who are along for the ride.

Irondog, I love it :D

It looked to me that the stompa in Ghudra's link had one leg. I'm new to this whole ork thing, are they supposed to be like that?
