Originally posted this in the rules section by mistake. :o

Roll 3d6 for number of shots each time it fires.
Doubles of 1, 3 or 5 have no adverse effect.
Doubles of 2, 4 or 6 only result in the same misfire as the Ratling Gun Misfire Table
2 - power down
4 - spin and fire in random direction
6 - See Ya!
Trebles of any kind results in firing the shots rolled (3,6,9,12,15 or 18), then placing the 5" template and anything underneath takes a single S-4 AP hit and the team disappears.

Roll of a "13" should be something special.

Roll to hit (range 15")
Target takes "x" S-4 AP hits.

This should keep the misfires roughly the same as the standard artillery die (1 in 6), removes the broken "autohit" syndrome and now the misfire result is not "premeditated."

Looking for feedback...

Seems pretty straight forward. I like.

Perhaps give it a rule that means it doesn't suffer -1 for firing multiple shots? IE Hail of Bullets - the ratling gun puts out such a torrent of fire that it never suffers the -1 penalty for firing multiple shots.
