Not wishing to ask this in the rumour section...

I was looking today in the 'How to Paint Citadel Miniatures' book, and in the first couple of pages there's an awesome looking dragon.

Is this a conversion, or an unreleased model?

Well seeing as that book's really old, I'd say its a conversion. I might be wrong though.

as the book is rather old it could be one of the old dragons from here http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=List_Models&code=301751&orignav=13

Not the old version, the new one:

Its up to the quality of the latest HE dragon sculpt, but it looks smaller and unridden from what I can remember.

Without a picture it is hard to decide what the dragon is.

Its not the same dragon* pictured in the bretonnain book is it? That one is a converted carnosaur.

*Rampant red dragon balanced on its tail with wings outstretched.

Guessing at the age, it is probably the converted Chaos Dragon. It was red and had two heads. It was used in quite a few battle reports.

He just said he is talking about the new book, not the old one.

If it's the one I think you're describing I think it's a conversion based on the Lizardmen Carnasaur.

If by "in the first couple of pages" you mean page 19 of a hundred then the dragon is the chaos dragon galrauch.
See waywatchers link above.

That solves that one, it is the one balanced on tail V a Bretonnian. So I'll assume its the one you're talking about.
