Hello there, this is my first ever Fantasy Army. I've played 40k for awhile but I've heard fantasy is a more interesting game so I'm taking a shot at it. I don't have many units yet and the folks at my store play 2250pt battles so I had to do what I can to fill out the points. Here is the list.

Heroes

Dwarf Lord, General, Shield, Oath Stone (Hammerers); 303 points

Runic Hand Weapon (RoSS, Speed)
Runic Gromril Armor (Adamant, Stone)
Runic Talisman (Spite)

Thane, Battle Standard Bearer, Oathstone (Longbeards); 185 points

Runic Hand Weapon (Swiftness, Might)
Runic Gromril Armor (Stone)
Runic Talisman (Warding, Furnace)

Core

19 Dwarf Warriors (Longbeards) Great Weapons, Shields, Full Command, Runic Standard (Determination); 273 points

20 Dwarf Warriors, Great Weapons, Shields, Full Command; 245 points

20 Dwarf Warriors, Great Weapons, Shields, Full Command; 245 points

10 Quarellers, Shields, Musician; 125 points

10 Quarellers, Shields, Musician; 125 points

Special

19 Hammerers, Shields, Full Command, Runic Standard (Courage, Determination); 335 points

Grudge Thrower, Rune of Accuracy, Rune of Penetrating x2; 155 points

Cannon, Rune of Forging, Rune of Burning, Rune of Reloading; 140 points

Rare

Organ Gun; 120 points

Thanks for your help!

I like your list, when I field dwarfs I like to field lots of warriors. I have never cared much for all of the Anvil & Gunline armies, very boring.

You are however missing one little item from you army.

Magic Defense.

You need a rune smith with some dispel scrolls or runes of spell breaking. With all of the DE, VC, and Demon Armies popping up you need magic defense, it is a must.

A couple of options to free up some points

Drop the great weapons from the dwarfs, The Hammers and Long beard are you hard hitters.

Drop either the Cannon or Grudge thrower and take a Bolt Thrower (Cheaper and just as good, I have four of them :))

If you drop the Organ Gun and the Cannon and go with a couple of bolt throwers,
It would also give your army a real Non-Gunpowder Traditionalist's theme.

Thank you for your suggestions! Indeed I prefer the traditionalist feel to a Dwarf Army.

Runesmith, Great Weapon, Shield; 151 points

19 Dwarf Warriors (Longbeards) Great Weapons, Shields, Full Command; 272 points

20 Dwarf Warriors (Longbeards) Great Weapons, Shields, Full Command; 305 points

20 Dwarf Warriors, Shields, Full Command; 245 points

10 Quarellers, Musician; 115 points

I'd be tempted to replace a unit of warriors with a small group (10-12) of miners, and add a runesmith with 1-2 runes of spellbreaking. He's still a bit of a boost in the front rank of a melee unit, and you'll gain a lot of magic defense out of him.

Actually afaik the oath stone isn't that great, once you plant you stay put. And mobility even for slow dwarfs counts.

I believe you have one more special choice than possible. You have 5 one more bolt thrower. Anyway I'd drop the grudge thrower for a organ gun and use the extra 10 points to buy another rune on the third bolt thrower.

2000-2500 is 0-5 special choices I think (unless army builder is wrong)

Remember Two Bolt Throwers count as only One Choice :)

Try this for your Lord & Heros
1 Dwarf Lord - 196 points. - Shield bearers, Great Weapon, Rune of Stone, Rune of Resistance
The Hammers are already stubborn, the Oath Stone is wasted.

1 Thane 147 points - Shield, BSB, Strollaz's Rune
You have to Challenge if you have a Oath Stone, bad idea for a BSB, keep him alive, Strollaz's helps you get to grips with the enemy faster

1 Runesmith 150
Rune of spellbreaking, Master rune of balance, Shield, Great Weapon

I think if you field riflers and quarrelers you will see a vast difference between the two and you won't field quarrelers anymore, I would hate to see you put models in your army you wont use. the only advantage quarrelers have is range. Otherwise dwarves hit more often with rifles (+1 to hit) and hit harder (armor piercing str 4). For me its either riflers or nothing.

They fill similar, but different roles. The great advantage of quarellers over thunderers is the extra 6" reach. They are, with the right deplaoyment, capable of shooting into your opponent's deployment zone, and although they lack the +1 to hit, they are still quite useful.

You really need a rune of burning on one of your bolt throwers. (there is alot of regen stuff out there) A engineer would not be a bad idea either. My army looks alot like yours except I use a cannon. I don't own a grudge thower. It is on my buy list. If you down grade the 2nd unit of longbeards to warriors and drop the great weapons you could free up some points for other goodies.
