Having just painted a squad of the little beggars to go with the 31st Mordian Redshirts I'm left wondering, is there any information on why the Mordian doctrines in the Codex include the use of Ratling marksmen?

...Because someone in the last edition of the Guard 'dex did a conversion of a Ratling in a mordianesque cap and they thought it would be amusing?

Yeah, I got nothing.

No real idea.

Maybe they just included them with Mordians as a random pick.

Or maybe the thieving little blighters like the mordians home world?

Just searching for stuff on the forum on Mordians, sorry for the necromancy.

I imagine the reason ratlings where linked in as a doctrine in the old codex is because in the 2ed guard codex the ratling homeword is located very close to Mordia on the galatic map.

If I remember correctly, also the steel legion doctrine set included ratlings just like mordian iron guard. Why, no one knows...

Because they learned that all Napoleonic Battle lines need some good light infantry to skirmish for them.

I wouldn’t trust that map too much, it doesn’t look very accurate (apart from the fact that its twisted by about 75 degrees anti-clockwise).

sharpe references FTW

on topic: why not include them? they make good snipers, and don’t require as much in the way of provisions as the other soldiers ;)

Why you ask? Because we've all seen Time Bandits. Combining adventuring Midgets with high powered Sniper Rifles is the next logical step.
