Edit: If you are looking at my plog because you want me to do commissions, all pictures on the first page are REALLY old, like from when I just started.

Welcome to my plog. I am a begginer painter, so I definetly wont be as good as a lotta other people on this 'ere forum! C&C welcomed!

Here is my 3rd in command, Git'za the sneaky.( I need to get the warboss boxed set to make Brigitz)

And here is my first unit of spearmen:

Edit: As of November 2009, I pledge to get new pictures of my whole army up to replace my cruddy old ones.

Sooo, no love for the gobbos, eh? Please comment, I could use the engrouagment...

Looks good - keep going; the only criticism I will have is about your bases. I prefer to keep the base edges trim and neat. But some people do flock over the edges as well - although most people I know don't do it, for gaming purposes (but then again, they use movement trays that are fat as anything to get that extra bit of charge in...)

In any case, this is a painting matter, not a gaming technicality. Your bases have to be neater, and preferably contrast the rest of your model - maybe don't paint it green (save the green for the greenskins! - paint and think economically :D).

And... don't worry it takes a while for comments to flood in. So long as you keep posting pictures, I think you'll have enough encouragements.

As someone who will be painting up a couple of hundred Goblins soon, logs like these are invaluable to me for ideas! I like the orange on the robes, a great contrast to the black and breaks up the monotony of black and green. :)

14-10-2008, 00:59
I like it alot, i wonder though are you goin pure Night Goblins? If so take lots of Fanatics. ive got about 1000 points of Night Goblins. I think your paint job is great but the bases could use some work. if you dont mind bein a little cheap then take Snarsnik. He has 8 leadership and him and Gobbla can hold their own. Good Luck To You.

My armys going be a little bit of everything!

Sorry for the pic quality!

22-10-2008, 03:44
Good, another Orc! I'm liking the colour scheme, and your painting is really quite good. What kind of Special and Rare choices are you going for? I really recommend Squig Hoppers. In my last game vs Dwarfs, 7 Squigs ate a Flame Cannon, ten Clansmen, ten Longbeards, a Grudge Thrower and ten Thunderers!

22-10-2008, 07:22
Greenskins = good. The more the better. Keep 'm coming!

22-10-2008, 16:40
I like the warpaint on the forest goblins and the ork skin is real good too, I like bright green orcses :D

01-12-2008, 20:04
I have finally finished the Boyz( some still need bases done), converted the night gobbo big boss that came with BfSP into a shaman, and redid some of the spider riders.

I like the red/orange colour scheme you are giving the army it is very striking. :)
I don't like the bases though.
Bases actually have a huge impact on the apperance of an army and it is actually simple to create good-looking ones.
Start with picking a colour that will be a good contrast to you army's colour scheeme. Say brown for your army. Then sand the bases, paint them in scorched brown, once this is dry drybrush with a lighter brown in a desiered shade (Graveyard Earth or Bestial Brown for example) Second step is to add static grass in small chumps here and there on every base and lastly paint the base's edges with a colour that contrasts the texture of your bases a bit but still isn't too far away from it. Like if you went for brown bases use a different shade of brown or maybe black.

When I in my early days in the hobby discovered how easy it is to create good looking bases and the impact it has on the army I was amazed. Improving your bases will take your army to the next level and it will be really easy!

i always reccomend krylon matte varnish for mini's. at $3 a pop at wall mart or equivalent it is invaluable in saving mini's from paint chipping.

03-12-2008, 01:49
Yeah, I am not very happy with my bases either. I would start redoing the bases now, but I am all out of brown paint.

02-09-2009, 18:04
Wow, to long since I last updated. I have gotteb a lot done, including making a dedicated gaming table, and a good painting space. I also have all of my orc models, and I am almost done painting them. I will get you guys soem more pics later in the week.

My cheapo grimgor. I always thought that grimmys blood forged armor should be red.
And here are some good photos of my 10 blorcs I am taking for my army. The skin was done by mixing Goblin Green with black for the basecoat, and then adding some white to that mix for the highlight.

Edit: As of November 2009, I pledge to get new pictures of my whole army up to replace my cruddy old ones.

03-09-2009, 04:08
Glad to see another O&G log!
I realy like the squig on your shaman, and on the tabletop I'm sure will look amazing, but in the up close picture you have, the model's paint looks a little clumpy. I do like the touches of orange on your NG rank and file, it really catches the eye.
On some of the models, like the spider in the middle with the white front legs, it seems like there's too much paint, like you applied an extra layer, after the model was painted.
I like your orcs, they've got a great skin tone, and I really like the way some of their clothing is painted.
I like that the yellow on your blorcs makes them stand out; it draws attention to them, which is really good, them being a Special choice and all.

I might steal your idea for that Cheapo Grimgor; it beats the hell out of buying one

So, I finally started an empire army, just to get a break from orcs. I am doing a knight/range heavy army, with a purple, red, and yellow color scheme. I am not to sure if I like how they turned out, so I could really use some C&C to help me improve!

Edit: Ughr, my first pics were awful...Scroll down for some greatly improved pictures...

05-09-2009, 22:57
They are nice. I'd use a brighter red to highlight the crimson colour though. I'd also work on the bases a bit more. Having a nicely textured base really can make quite a difference.

06-09-2009, 15:00
Yeah, I am going to paint the dark green spots on the bases brown, then flock the rest. I have also done some work on them since I posted those pics, namely higlight with a 1/4 white, 3/4 Red gore mixture on the red, painting the sword gaurds gold, stuff like that. I will get better pics up soon!

04-11-2009, 15:28
Hey,I will have new pics of my boyz soon that hopefully will not be so washed out, plus 10 new spider riders.

04-11-2009, 16:09
Very nice Plog. I escpecially like your spider riders. Very nice job!

04-11-2009, 16:14
Hey, good to see you Jormi! My other spider riders ( the new ones) look a ton better. I have a orc shaman conversion that I need to post sometime.

04-11-2009, 19:38
Okay, here are the spiders, as promised!

04-11-2009, 20:46
Nice, I miss the face paint though.

17-12-2009, 18:05
Wow, I really need to update, so here are some new(ish) pics...
The whole unit...
Nice side view of the color I am using for highlighting the red...
Back rank...

I have converted the standard bearer to a regular swordsmen since I took these pics, plus I have gotten a regaular, and have finished my army list, so I have gotten much done. By the time this army is finished, I will have painted 10 knights, 10 pistoliers, 5 outriders, a general and a captain, 2 wizards, 60 swordsmen, 10 halberdiers, 40 free company, 1 homemade great cannon, 30 handgunners, 2 volley guns, and 2 rocket launchers. I got more state troops recently to, so expect an update soon.

17-12-2009, 18:18
Yeah, I painted face paint on them ormi, I just need to get new pics up. I have also slowly been standardising the skin on all my boyz, painitng their sheilds and armor red and generaly making them look a ton better,so I will get new pics of them up soon!

17-12-2009, 21:19
Some good looking orcs here.

Keep it up :)

18-12-2009, 01:35
Okly-dokley, neighbors, here are some new pictures. I am really trying to finish my orcs once and for all this time :(.
My first fully finished unit...
And 13 more finished boyz...
12 Wip boyz. Most of them are 99% done, and some have been finished since I took these pics...

I will post pics of my Blorcs next.

18-12-2009, 01:56
Excellent looking greenskin mob you got there.
I'm starting out with O&G also. Actually just taking a break from cleaning mold lines off BfSP goblins. I like the blue face paint and its something I wanted to do for my army also. Was it as easy as slapping blue paint over the green basecoat or what? Anyway, keep up the good work.

21-12-2009, 15:11
I painted a basecoat of a really dark blue, the did a highlight of 1/2 dark blue and 1/2 white. I did a line higlight, AKA I painted the light blue only where the highlights should be, like the the brows and lips. Glad you like them.

21-12-2009, 17:52
Sweet. You're making good progress here.

Can we get some pics which show a bit more of the spiders?

21-12-2009, 18:04
Hey, this is great. Nice work. I really like how they all look together. Very nice.

06-03-2010, 17:13
Okay, I have finished painting/basing all the stuff I got for Christmas, and will get pics up later today, if I can find good lighting somewhere...

06-03-2010, 22:50
Okay, first an update on the status of my army, and then pics...First, I have finished those 13 wip boyz, so I now have two full units of 25 boyz, and will get those pics up soon. Also, I have started sculpting fur cloaks and such on my converted savage orcs, and will get pics of those up soon. Secondly, I have another box of regular boyz, which will be converted into savage orcs, and a blister of squig hoppers on the way. Now here are the pics of my new stuff:

Aaaaand my shaman:

I have a doom diver, but my annoying younger sibling got his hands on it...*glue shatters*. And I am out of glue...Oh well, please comment!

14-05-2010, 13:45
Well, I finally took the plunge into 40k(right before the price rise, so I am buying my army used from ebay). I settled on Tau, mostly because I really like the Anime/Manga look of the battlesuits. I origianlly painted my Battlesuit gray and yellow, but decided I needed something that would "pop" out if you were watching a game.
Comments and Criticism more than welcome.
The battlesuit iwth his two gun drones.
Just the gun drones.
And, after deciding $30 USD for 6 metal figures is to much, here are my Kroot hound count-as models. I cannot seem to think of a color scheme for them though, as the way they are painted now is a color scheme from a different game...
I also have 24 Firewarriors winging their way towards me in the mail, so look out for pics of those soon!

14-05-2010, 17:45
The green is interesting , always good to see tau that are not beige and red.

Try watering down your paint a little , basecouts have to go on in several thin layers to get smooth, this is especially important when painting white.

Good luck

Thanks for the comment!

Yeah, I got excited by my new models and forgot to thin my paints sufficiently. I will take care to remeber that in future. Thanks for the comment!

18-05-2010, 13:14
Nice start (and I like your "hounds"), and good work on the bases too.
As said, try to water down a little your paints, or start on a white undercoat (just as me) if you think you will paint lots of white...

19-05-2010, 05:17
your tau look awesome, great start.
where did you get you count as hounds from?

23-05-2010, 20:24

where did you get you count as hounds from?

A game called Heroscape. It is well known in America as a game that either 7-14 year olds play, or as a game old guys with huge buckets of cash play. I used to play it, actually it wa the game that got me started wargaming. Heres a link to where you can buy the "hounds". http://store02.prostores.com/servlet/auggiesgames/Detail?no=5907

In other news, I have finished 4 fire warriors, one of which (the one with the carbine) counts as a pathfinder. I got these off of ebay, and they were painted pretty badly, but I just had to apint them, so here they are. I have 18 more to go after this, plus I need to order some replacement arms/bases.

27-05-2010, 14:49
Well, I had one the the mods merge all my threads, so I will be doing a mixed update today.

First up is a pic of my WIP Tau Firewarrior unit. I made the rubble on the bases with cut up sprue and fishing tackle box dividers.
Next are my two (finally!) finished units of 25 orc boyz.

As always, C&C welcomed!

29-05-2010, 22:40
All righty, here is another update, this time it is: new savage orcs! Yep, my army will have 30-ish of the crazy buggers. Tell me what you think!
And also a Warmachine: Retribution of Scyrah mech I picked up to paint.
I am really needing some comments here, guys, since I only have about 10 total comments in 3 pages.

30-05-2010, 14:56
Okay, in a move to save money, I have decided to make 19 of my savage orcs modular so I can run them as savages with double choppas, or boyz with choppa and sheild. I was originally going to use magnets, but that was to exspensive. So I got out my bitz box and found a tone of spears, and decided to make them modular like this: Take a small chunk off of a spears handle, glue it to the arm, and then drill a hole in the middle of the spot where you usually glue the arm on. Do this for each arm you want to make modular, and voila! Modular, cheap orc boyz. I will be drilling the holes later today.

30-05-2010, 15:54
I love the Retribution thing - I don't play Warmachine but it looks like a really inventive colour scheme. I'm liking the Orc Boyz but I would maybe highlight the shields, or add some more detail anyway, as they look slightly plain - which is a shame because the rest of them looks great!

03-06-2010, 14:47
@Seaswift: I looked over the sheilds, and they do look a little bland, so I am adding freehand jaws on some of the sheilds.
Also, here are pictures of my WIP savage orcs. I really like the how the skin turned out.
Here is a group shot of my fanatics from Da Night Gitz tribe.
And here is a good close up of my shaman, Wurrgda da Toofless.

04-06-2010, 12:57
Finally, new, better pictures of my Black orc unit can be put up!
And a Big boss I got from the boxed set.
And another Big boss on boar.
In other news, I am ordering bitz to make some of my firewarriors into Pathfinders, and I am also ordering a Devilfish, and they should be coming sometime next week. Also, I am trying to work out some commission work with a guy on another group, so if that goes through it will awesome.

06-06-2010, 13:13
4,101 views, and so few comments...That's discouraging.

08-06-2010, 22:06
Okay, I am expirementing with a light box at the moment, tell me how the pics turned out. Some of the FW's heads looking slightly dingy in real life, almost like the sealer is yellowing. I cannot decide how to do the bases either, since the urban ones I am doing look a little bit boring.
And our cat, Mittens.

09-06-2010, 15:16
I have decided to revamp my empire with a new color scheme. I like the red and the black MUCH better than my purple, yellow, and red color scheme. Tell me waht you guys think.
C&C welcomed!

10-06-2010, 16:42
I like that scheme, would look even better when everything is ranked up together.

22-06-2010, 13:22
Hey, thanks! I have unfortunately had to put my empire army on hold, since I sold my AB, but I *will* start it back up once the 8th edition AB is availble. Hopefully Mantics human line will look as good as GW's empire line, and will be out by the time I start my empire army again.

Hey guys, more comments would be appreciated, since it IS rather un-rewarding to just keep on posting pics and not getting comments.

23-06-2010, 20:09
Tau update
I have been working on my Tau army for the past 5 days, and I have been making a lot of progress, and when I get this 500 point block done I will try to get my hands on my next batch of figs(hint: m--------d).
The Firewarriors are finished, I just need to get the bases finished.
These are my Pathfinders. When I am done I will have 8 in the unit.
The Devilfish is almost done, and I am espcially happy with the shine effect I got on the lenses.
Comment please guys, that is why I am posting these photos!

27-06-2010, 14:02
beautiful cat!

oh, you meant the painting.. ;)

love how the O&G project is progressing. This is not one of those 10 million points O&G projects is it? oh yeah, just a suggestion: some grass (flock?) on the bases would make a massive difference.

nice color scheme on the tau. again, are the bases gonna get some love? ;)

Hey, thanks! Yes, the cat is pretty nice, though he HATES my dog. My O&G army has been painfully slow from the start, and I only own 3,000 points worth of models, and I cannot use all of them in my standard sized games of 2,250 points. I REALLY need to get 'er done, though, and thankfully the end is in sight, I only have 8 savage orcs left to do. I am thinking of flocking them when I get my hands on some battlefoam trays, because ATM my storage "solution, AKA put them in a fishing tackle box" is really quite awful, and would knock the flock off of them. The Tau's bases also need finished, thankfully I managed to finish the FW, Crisis, and D-fish's bases yesterday, adn will be getting pics up as soon as possible.

18-09-2010, 01:45
Been WAAY to long since I updated this thread. I bought an Island of Blood Elf Mage, and I have been painting it up to put it in the display cabinet at my FLGS, with a little brochure with info on my painting service. It ought to work.

The gemstones have been worked on on the Mage, the skin has been worked on, and I have generally made good progress, considering the fact that I am a little tied up with commission work and the like ATM. The model does need some more color, at the moment it is mostly red, white, and blue. Any suggestions?

I am quite happy with the energy swirling around his feet.

C&C welcomed!

18-09-2010, 17:51
You're back! Ah was lookin' forward to seeing more orcs done. Still, you did get some painting done. I think the staff of the mage is very nicely done, but maybe you could do a little more blending/layering with the cloak? The contrast between the recesses and the billowing folds of the cloak do seem a little stark. Nevertheless, a good job all round.

I see what you mean about the cape, I have been considering going back over it with white, then giving it a bluish wash, then slowly layering white back on.

Quick question for you guys: My Birthday is coming up soon, and i am trying to decide what to ask for: I am greedily looking at the full set of Isalnd of Blood Skaven, which I have found on eBay for $40, from multiple sellers. Or, I could get a box of river trolls for my WHF orc army( which I have been meaning to photograph and put up here soon, though be prepped for some not-so good paint jobs, it was my 1st army
). Or, I could buy myself 2-3 Tau Battlesuits. What do you guys think?

Anyways, look for a Mage update today, with maybe some orc stuff as we.

18-09-2010, 18:17
I've got a soft spot for greenskins, and I quite like the GW River Trolls models, so I'd go for that. However, it is your birthday, and you should make the final decision on what you like. :)

And a Happy Birthday in advance!

19-09-2010, 14:26
I love your stuff, especially your Orcs, but I have to admit I am not a big fan of your basing. What is the thought behind the brown/green? Is the green supposed to resemble grass?

And go for more Orc stuff. You really don't want another army, trust me.

19-09-2010, 20:15

Yeah, I am not a big fan of the bases either, and yes, the green is supposed to look like grass. I am needing to get a tub of GW dead grass, and put that on all the bases.

In other news...GAHH!

The High elf Mage is giving me nightmares. I have, in the last 3 days, tried 4 different ways of shading/highlighting the stupid ribbons on the model, and no matter what I do, they still look like crap. So, as there are now 5 layers of paint, not including washes, on the ribbons, I am just either 1: going to have to strip the that part of the model, or 2: just toss the model in the bin. I cannot strip the model, as stripping it would most likely break the ribbons/staff. So, it looks as though I will have to go with 2. It sucks, but it s just not worth my time/sanity/eyesight to keep slaving away over such a small, yet crucial, bit of a model. I belive I have found my one painting weakness: clean whites.

I also reviewed all the painting projects I have that are still ongoing.
My WHF Orc army: I still have to paint 8 savage orcs, and base 7 already painted ones.
The SW project
The High elf Mage project
My Tau army
My CoD terrain
Aaand the runebound commission.

I am going to have to give the SW project the chop, and the High elf Mage project the chop. The runebound commission is almost done, and after that, I may just give Blackdog Painting studio the chop also. I really have managed to take to many things on at once, and this painting service thing is making me pretty burned out, as so far I have painted about 50 figures that are 1/2 the size of a Night Goblin, twice as slim, and have no raised details, so that is rapidly sucking the joy out of painting.

different basing for the greenskins might make them look even better.
It can also be used to tie the units of your army together theme-wise.
If you are planning to re do the bases of your entire army it's worth keep in mind the overal colorsceme of your army: An nicely contrasting base can realy help to bring out the models paint -sceme
But that's all down to personal taste right?

also nice work on the bloodied cleavers, its hard to get that looking realistic, i think you pulled it off nicely, did you use the 'new' whashes?

21-09-2010, 23:51
@Merlyn: Thanks! The blood on the cleavers is actually alizarin crimson, watered down.

Here is the promised photo of the High elf mage. Please take a gander at it, and tell me what I should do.

I trotted out my horde o' orcs, and got pictures of them all. They are a very raggedy looking horde, as I have been collecting/painting them since I first started the hobby 3 years ago. As such, the painting on them is very inconsistent, and some of the paint jobs look quite bad. Also, many of the orc boyz in the big unit of 50 still have unfinished shields, badly/half-way painted/unpainted small details such as talismans, choppa handles, eyes, and other things(many of them are just sloppily painted compared with my latest lot of savage orcs). This is largely because I have painted the unit over 2 years, and my style has changed a lot. As such, I have been very tempted on multiple occasions, to strip them of their paint, 5 at a time, and paint them all to my new, clean and crisp, standard. It would be a lot of work, but it would pay off, as I would have a whole unit painted up to a consistent standard I can be proud of. I really need your guys' opinion on this!

The pictures are organized first to last, so the first bunch of photo are all BFSP models. They were the first I painted, so don't expect much.

C&C Welcomed!

C&C welcomed!

23-09-2010, 20:32
For the first time ever, I painted the eyes of a model, and they actually didn't make the model have googly eyes. Eyes really do add to a model, don't they? Yep, the high elf is coming along nicely, as the cape and the ribbons are pretty much done. I may not be totally happy with them, but they look as best as I can do, at my (current) skill level. I am not rushing myself, as I will be able to get to my FLGS in about 9 days, so I have some time to spare.

C'mon people, the insecure artist needs a comment or two!

24-09-2010, 19:09
Which part of the ribbon are you not happy with? Is it the white? Because, together with the cape, I think I know what the problem is. Your shading is far too dark. You don't want to go any further than Fortress Grey, because white really doesn't give off a very dark shade. Fortress Grey might already be too dark.

Alternatively, instead of Fortress Grey, you could go for Space Wolf Grey. It's blueish and very close to the white, and would probably make for a smooth gradient. I think that would be your best bet.

As a final suggestion, though I will have to admit I don't agree with myself thinking about it, could be to use Bleached Bone as a shade, but... Probably not.

However, before you decide to add layer no. 7, try to find some spare capes you may have lying about and test it on those models.

Hope this helps... And yes, white is tough, but the problem isn't so much the white, it is the capes/ribbons. They are difficult no matter which colour you slap on.

24-09-2010, 21:54
@ Daniel36: I am probably going to keep the shading the way it is, as my sanity is not tough enough for a total re-do of the cape. Still, I think it looks better than it did, 4-6 layers ago...
Anyways, he has been based, and the energy around his feet is almost done. All that is left to do now is some minor details/cleanup work. I am also trying out a darker background for my photos, what do you you guys think of it?

YAY! The mage is finished! Man, it feels good to have that out of the way. Now I just need to write a brochure, and take him off to my FLGS.

Looking back, I could have done this a lot faster if not for real life getting in the way. As the last 5-6 update posts have all ben more and more elf, I will be getting a Crisis suit soon, so that should add some more interest into this thread.
Tell me what you think, guys and gals!

The colororation is perfect.

The colororation is perfect.

Thank you! I am really glad I added the touch of purple.

I just moved into my new studio, so I will be posting pictures of it tomorrow!

May I complement you on an awesomly huge O&G force! Takes alot of will to get so many models painted up. I've been sat staring at a force of 100+ goblins for a few years and never getting round to painting them :( some nice work all in all!

Oh, my orc force is not quite finished: I still want to add some more Black orcs (6), 40 more night goblins, and maybe 3 River Trolls! I am such a glutton for punishment...

Yes you are! :D

But yes, I agree about the awesomness of your O&G army. Your best work so far. Do up their bases! They'll look even more awesome after that.

30-09-2010, 14:28
I used to own quite a sizable army of O&G, but the mere thought of having to paint it up prohibited me from doing anything for any army, so I sold them... It was a good choice, but I do kinda miss them.

My best friend and I have long talked about starting up a joined force of O&G, and this log is harshly pushing me once again into that direction. With all the new stuff out, there's no better time than now.... So who knows... Mayhaps in a couple of months I will also do my first unit of da green buggaz.

30-09-2010, 17:26
@Juicy Tomatoes: Yep, the bases do need done up, I just need to get some Dead Grass flock, regular Grass flock is to bright.

@Daniel36: Go for it! I have to recommend batch painting them in groups of 5, or you will go insane.

Here are some pictures of my painting station. It is really nice and comfy, even though it is in a renovated shower stall! :D

I (finally!) ordered my copy of 8th edition 2 days ago, but it looks as though I won't be getting it in time for the weekend. :'(

I have been working on these NG Big Bosses for the past 1 and a 1/2...Tell me what ya' think!

01-10-2010, 18:28
Here they are, all painted up. I am really happy with the blades, and the highlighting on the purple cloak.

06-10-2010, 01:01
Chaospuppy left me his chaos figures to re-touch, so expect a lot a chaos stuff to come up in the next 3 weeks, and also wood elves and, since I need to consolidate, I may be moving my Tau to this thread.

Aannd here is the 1st Nurgle knight, still needing his stirrups and steed painted! And his base need done. I am really happy with the banner, the yellow circles look nice and grubby.
Here is a second Nurgle knight, who is getting his 1st layer of highlights applied as we speak!

06-10-2010, 01:03
This is a Doomcannon I am also working on. The skulls have come out nicely, as has the verdigris on the copper. Of course, that is just MY oponion :D
And here is the crew, sadly only the red has been worked on. They are needing more highlights, which will be applied when the knight is done with his layer of highlights!
And for my Tau fans, battlesuit 1 of...many. Sorry about the lack of Tau updates, I have been really busy. Nothing significant, just hope it might pique your interest.

Please comment folks, that is why I update this thing! ;)

Here is what I have gotten done today: the Chaos Dwarf crew. The red has been finished, as have the boots, some of the metallic bits, and the skin has a raw umber wash drying on it right now. The skin basecoat looks really nice, here is the recipe: take a glob of VMC Pale Flesh. Mix in half that amount worth of Scorched Brown, and then two small dabs Scab Red.

I gotta say, I am convinced a Chaos Dwarf army would be nothing but a good thing, if sculpted by the same person who sculpted these crew members.

The 2nd layer of green highlight has been applied to the chaos knight, and the lance blade, which I am very happy with, is finished to (too?).

And here is the chaos sorcerer. I am having a bugger of a time deciding on a color scheme for him.

I'd really like if you tried a pale blue robe on him, with some other colours spashing out of the recesses. It'd really give him a mutating overall look, which I think is only befitting for a sorcerer of Chaos!

Other projects looking good, I especially like the CD and knight.

And no I'm not a huge fan of FB Chaos Warriors :D

Thanks! I contacted Chaospuppy, and he wants the sorcerer to have really dingy yellow robes, and dead looking skin. Here are pictures of what I have gotten done on that so far:

The skin needs work, I may just go back over it with bleached bone, then wash it with raw umber, then give it a single bleached bone highlight.

Speaking of skin, here is the crew for the Doomcannon. The skin turned out quite well, I think. I am not sold on the flames coming from the skull that the one dwarf is holding, the straight black highlight looks too harsh.

Until next time!

that yellow clock could do with one or two spots of lighter yellow to show a hit of the original colour of the clock

02-11-2010, 14:58
Whew! It has been way to long since I last updated. I redid the Chaos Sorcerer with a black cloak, and purple skin, but gave him back to Chaospuppy before I could get pictures. I have also finished the 1st and 2nd Nurgle knights, and have started on the 3rd...I gotta find the pictures, they are somewhere on my computer...

I did a test figure for my 50 Orc Boyz unit that I am hoping to re-do over the winter. The model is painted up to look like a Red Sunz clan member, and he took me about an hour, though I am hoping to streamline the process, and be able to get 2-3 figures done in an hour, not inclduing drying tim for the wash. It's a pretty simple scheme, just a basecoat of each color, a wash all over the model, highlights on each color, then picking out small details. As you can see, he still need to have the black cloth he is wearing highlighted.
I also got most of the highlighting done on the 3rd Nurgle Kniggit(MP reference), and the shield is also coming along nicely. Not much else to say...

Comments? Thought?

Long time, no see. Ah well.

Before I get to the Tau/O&G stuff (and boy do I have A LOT of new Tau stuff, but not much new O&G stuff:cries:), I want to show off my latest commission. And boy, is it a big one! Aprox. 50 Empire Swordsmen, 100 Empire Halberdiers, around 30 cavalry, tons of artillery, and lots of character models! The color scheme is rather different, the customer wants deep red shirts and khaki/brown pants. The skin has turned out quite well, as have the metallic bits, considering that I am going for my basic "Tabletop" quality, meaning whatever looks good in large blocks. Uniformity here is key, so I cannot go about making custom color mixes.

Enough blather, here are photos!
All 50 Swordsmen, ranked up.

And the 1st 4 Swordsmen. They still need to have the stockings painted either black or a cream/bone color. I am leaning toward cream, personally, as it would add some nice visual interest.. What do you guys think? I also need to do the bases

More tau please!

I would like to see your colour-scheme

cream sounds pretty agreeable to me :)
