Hi all,

I've just moved to a new city for college and I brought my Dark Elves with me because there's a gaming club down the road and I thought I might be able to snag a couple of games here and there. I already have 1000 pts built and I'm looking to expand up to 2000, so here's what I had in mind. It's chock full of some of my favorite minis the Druchii have to offer, and I'm looking for a nice balance of combat/shooting/magic defense because I don't know what kind of armies I may be playing. Here's the list

Dreadlord
-Armor of Eternal Ser., Pendent of Khaeleth, Halberd
-Cold One, Sea Dragon Cloak Shield
-255 pts

Master
-Seal of Ghrond
Sea Dragon Cloak, Halberd, BSB
143 pts

Assassin
- Manbane, Addition HW
-121 pts

20 Warriors,command, War Banner
-170 pts

10 Xbowmen,
-100 pts

10 Xbowmen,
-100 pts

5 Dark Riders,RXB, Musician
-117 pts

15 Black Guards
-Banner of Hag Graef, Champ with Ring of Hotek
-290 pts

10 Executioners
-120 pts

5 Cold One Knights, Command, Standard of Slaughter
-210

Hydra
-175 pts

Reaper Bolt Throwerx2

If you have the models, drop an Executioner and add a Black Guard.

Drop the banner of cold blood from the warriors. It's not terribly effective for use with break tests, as you need to announce its use at the start of the turn.

Your crossbowmen say they have shields, but you didn't tack on the 10 points for them. I'm not sure which one is a typo, but assuming you simply forgot to write "110", drop the shields. You should now have 25 points left, with which you should give your warriors the war banner.

I'm sort of uncomfortable with the number of expensive elite troops you have compared to the number of cheaper, core troops, but overall I like the feel. Nice and "Punch em' in the teeth".

Just posted my newer list. Added some Crossbowmen and took out the shades. I'd love to have another squad of spearmen, but I don't know where the points are gonna come from, aside from my shooting/dark riders

No magica defense? :wtf: Get at least a couple of scrolls otherwise you are in for a lot of trouble. It won't be hard since i don't feel the BSB fullfills any role in your army.
Also get Crimsom death for the lord, he deserves the hitting power and PoK is more than enough for decent defense.
I also don't like the assasin; IMO touch of death+black lotus+rune is the way to go with these guys.
Finally drop the executioners and get a couple of units of harpies they are VERY useful

Okaii i mean for 2000pts ur list is seriously pants....like i mean to me it needs a serious overhaul...

To begin with u plan to put ur lord in a unit of 5 cold one knights thats really gonna keep him like safe....like true u might have alot of magical protection but i mean when ur asked to make a bunch of saves 1+ armour saves and like 4+ regens don't always help mean u won't fail any...

Okaii i play Dark Elves - personally i think Dark Magic absolutely like kicks **** so i mean why don't u use it...i mean the beaty of Dark Magic is that we can use as much power dice as we want so like rolling more dice means more chances of double 6s....however yeah more chances to roll 1s....but i mean if ur confident enough to leave ur lord with only like a 5 wound buffer than those 1s shouldn't be a problem to u....

Assassin; okaii why manbane - like are u really gonna pit it against T5 things but u have bolt thrower; hydra and knights for that....why not use Rune of Khaine and just kill and entire rank with a potential 7 attacks...re-rolls to hit and most likely 3s to wound to kill rank and file models. 4s if it's orcs and chaos...Since ur list is lacking in magic defence why not use Cloak of Twilights and use that 20 inch charge to kill off pesky mages. It's simple...move infront of a unit that has a mage in it...if u get within 12 inches reveal the assassin in ur opponents combat phase and charge out of the unit and into the wizard...

Crossbowmen seriously need shields; lets them survive longer and why not think of them as swordsmen; Ws4 with re-rolls and a 4+ save in close combat...use them to flank charge to remove enemy ranks...not many will see it coming...

Warriors and a warbanner; seriously...Warriors are meant to die and divert charges thats why their 6pts a model their not supposed to charge into units and win combat; and seriously any other combat specialist units; swordmasters; black orcs; chosen; heavy cav will smash then war banner or not....

Dark Riders with rxb and a musician - no problems there a good choice might i add....

Black Guard with asf banner - good choice too - with the ring of hotek not a bad combo but yea personally i'd gone with the kouran since i luv his fluff...and meaning ur black guard are unbreakable seriously means ur opponent has to kill every last one.

Executioners yeah i luv the models and a unit of 10 is nice but i don't think it's the wisest way to spend your points; but yeah great table top unit....

See if u have kouran in the black guard unit u can use it to bait ur opponents best units out of formation; since u have asf and i6 u should inflict some serious damage; however theres always that kick **** charater that will beat u and so ur unbreakable comes in handy; then like flank charge with ur executioners and run down the unit and hopefully if ur opponent is underestimates ur black guard; u should be able to just over-run into the next unit and just sweep down his battleline....

The 5 knights i seriously don't like espicially because they have a standard with a magical banner i mean like if u lose that unit not only do u lose knights but extra 100vps for banner..and i mean if theres only 5 knights it won't be hard to beat them in combat...

2 Bolt throwers - standard

Hydra - yes luv it - personally i uses duel hydras because i just have two and i mean 4 bolt throwers is just boring.

Anyways yeah these are just like my points of view - i mean if u like ur list then go ahead i'm just pointing out flaws i see and that could give u a better chance in doing ur dark elves proud....

I'd give the dreadlord something in the way of a magic weapon. There is a lot of stuff running around these days that sneers at mundane weapons, and when that particular armylist comes 'round, there's nothing you can do but try to break it by combat resolution- and none of your units can really do that. 15 points for the sword of might isn't going to be that much of a bump over the halberd.

I see what you're saying here, but... your use of Voice put me off right away. After a certain number of "like's" I just want to shoot this opinion in the knees and watch it bleed.

I'm not very experienced with the new dark elves or the old dark elves for that matter. My suggestion would be give the list a try, or take some of the above's advice if you can read it.

I do agree that Dark Magic is some sick stuff! :skull:
