I saw some of these models and they look pretty nice. Just wondering if anyone had played the system or could describe what it is like? Is it skirmish or is there more RPG in it?

It's a skirmish game.

Models act mostly independently, but you get the best use of them when you use them together.

Units activate out of a randomly shuffled deck that includes cards from all players, which makes you need to think on your feet. Troops of models, including a leader and any models included, all activate together, but they aren't required to take the same actions as one another. You could concievebly have 12 models in a troop do 12 different things in a turn.

The core mechanic of the game is d10 +/- modifiers must equal or beat the target value, and it applies to everything from swinging a sword to casting a spell to seeing in your extra-tough model can shrug off a blow. Models have from 1- 12 "damage tracks" (the only one with 12 is a generic Dragon) that do double duty keeping track of how injured your models are and reducing their statistics as they take damage. Thus even uber-characters don't fight at full-effectivness when they're 80% of the way toward being killed.

"standard" game size is about 750 points, which should play in about an hour with even a little experience under your belt.

It's also the first of a modular system of games based on what Reaper calls the "RAGE" system that use essentially the same core mechanics to drive different genres. The next game to be released will be a 10mm sci-fi mecha/combined arms game which, if sources are to be believed, is on its way to the printer.

You can get a ton of more info, including stats for every model currently in production, at WarlordHQ (http://warlordhq.reapergames.com) (you'll need to register to see everything), and if you have more questions Reaper has the friendliest gamer message boards (http://www.reapermini.com/forum/index.php?) on the planet.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help. I'm looking into some skirmish type games besides Confrontation and got models for Infinity and Dark Age but Warlord looks good, too.
