Two questions: are you going for Palanquin and are you prepared to Green Stuff?

I'm actually going to be experimenting with melting plastic models.

Find a nice fleshy minis in plastic(human or otherwise) and take a lighter to bits of him..arm...legs..chest..face.....might produce a nice "nurgled" appearence.
Yet to try it though heh.

Indeed it is, but it's also too big for a Herald.

What about a model that looks like a devotee of Nurgle, but not necesarilly as a Plague Bearer? Something like the Grim reaper, with a scythe and cloak for instance?

You could also check out some of the Warmachine Cryx (http://www.privateerpress.com/WARMACHINE/gallery/default.php?level=collection&id=4) models.

I'll pick up some used plastics later this week and see what I can put together.

Maybe it'll work...maybe I just want to play with fire. WHO KNOEZ!! WOOOoo

Not 1 Idea but 3

1. Use the old great unclean one model (I did that and attached new arms to it so it ranks up, barely)

2. Rackham makes wulfen that are in shrouds and have a plague theme about them

3. helldorado.fr (warning some of the mini's are a little disturbing)

That to me is a herald I would choose.

I will buy 40k Nurgle special character Typhus.
He will look awesome inside a plaguebearers units.
It won't take too much work to convert from 40k to Fantasy.

Also the new Mortal nurgle sorcerer might do the trick.

If you're ok with GS then the old ork shaman GSed to have one eye and sticking a horn on his head can work. Works especially well if you use staff of nurgle.

I had never heard of these guys before. I'm still currently working on my CSM Nurgle army and the 40K Demon Lord on that site is TOTALLY BAD-A$$!!!

Much cooler than the cartoony Nurgle Daemon Lord from GW.

Thanks for that link man.
