Do you get your HW + Shield bonus against impact hits?

I've always played it as you don't. The reason being I got hung up on the "distributed as shooting" part. Then we looked it up again the other day when someone said you did get the bonus and the "distributed as shooting" was only talking about how it pertains to those wounds landing on characters.

After looking again, that seems right. Just wondering how everyone else plays it.

Would you give somebody with a save only against shooting a save versus impact hits?

Its a close combat attack of course you get the parry bonus. The shooting mention is only how the hits are distributed just like it says.

I'd agree with Killbot on this.

Weapons are chosen at the start of combat before it commences - Weapons chapter.
So a unit about to be impacted has to decide first

Close combat attacks, they are merely "distrubuted" as shooting. Not "resolved" as shooting.

Could be worse, you could be thinking they dont count towards combat resolution and happen in the shooting phase....
