As no one else has started a thread on this topic i thought i would.

Having seen the pics in the rumor roundup (http://www.portent.net/forums/showpost.php?p=24349&postcount=25) i am waiting with growing anticipation for these to actualy go on sale, the long barreled lasguns look great, like the Tusken Raiders rifles from star wars, the different poses of the rough riders look very cool also, though i would elect to paint them in a shade of green, I wonder what all those torsos on thier own are for?

Anyone else looking forward to these?

Yes to eat them to provide fresh meat for the hive mind. :p

Get your order in ASAP.

Back OT I think they are great, as you would expect better than the originals.

I'll be interested to see how the two forces mesh together.

The torso's on their own are part of the kits you add arms and legs to complete them.

There is another picture here of a trio of rough riders including a officer I think.

LOL :D

I like the torsos shown (if a bit blurry) looks like GW have ditched the head scarves and gone for a helmet/head scarf combo. Is it me or so they resemble UK forces in the Gulf??? Especially the h.weaps guys? Like 'em - won't buy em - but like em! ;)

I weep at the fact that I will never be able to afford even a 10 man squad of these. Finally roughriders who aren't ungodly ugly, finally the chance to get a unit of the ONLY thing I don't have one of in my army, and they're gonna cost the better of $400 for 2 and a half. Sigh . . .

Having just finished Sabbat Martyr though, I'd kill a puppy to see a forge world line of Ghosts. Ohmigawd that would be awesome. And not those cheap excuse GW put out. I want the whole shebang. Tread-fether teams, Scout squads. Bragg lugging his autocannon. Cuu with his split-faced scar, brandishing straight silver and a murderous look. The list goes on and on. A nice stalk-tank wouldn't hurt either.

Of course, were they to make them, I still wouldn't be able to afford them . . .

yea they go look really good but theyre prices are insane and its even worse living in the states, id have to wait almost a month to get them anyway. i wish gw would redo them, although id like the mordians more, my cadians are done and i wanna do mordians but the price for a single mordian makes it impractical. it cant be that hard for gw to do it for the tallarns, mordians, valhallans, steel legion, they already have metal molds and frankly all of them looked cool, simply make plastic molds to make us all happy please. oh well i wish i could afford fw prices, id certainly buy the new tallarns if i could

Really, if GW just made a plastic guard great-coat body sprue, they could just have sets of metal heads for Steel Legion, Valhallan, and Death Korp all rolled in to one. That way they don't have to cram all the different head options onto a plastic sprue, and we can have a little more variety for conversion purposes.

Most of all though, I reeeeally want new roughriders. Badly. The Attilans are so insulting on the eyes, I'd say they border on racism towards mongols.

Colonel Kolm

yes i would have to agree with you there, the tallarn cavalry were not to bad, and i had heard there were preatorians way back when, speaking of preatorians, make a modrian/preatorian plastic set with interchangeable heads, it would be awesome.

Only if the catachans are insulting towards bodybuilders and High Elves are insulting towards cross-dressers.

Sorry? How's that one follow? Just because something is based on a culture does not mean it's racist.

I think it was a joke.

Rough riders are perhaps the suckiest models GW has ever made ever, that are still being sold.

Lord Icklebum

Yeah, I meant that the models were so ugly that they're practically an insult to the culture they're based on. More of a joke than anything. I forget how poorly humor translates into text form in some cases.

Anyhow, yeah. I really can't believe they never bothered to update those models. Or rather that they chose to discontinue the old Tallarn roughriders models and leave those ***** Attilans as the available ones. It baffels all logic, man!

Curse you Forgeworld! I want to play a guard army but have my own unique regiment like the way every one is different in the Gaunt's Ghosts novels. Ah well... better learn how to sculpt miniatures or rob banks to pay for Forgeworld.

"Rough riders are perhaps the suckiest models GW has ever made ever, that are still being sold."

there seems to be quite a few guard based models that suck majorly and are still being sold today - ratling snipers? ogryns? how old are they? over 10 years now?

And eldar, and orks, and DE and...
There's plenty of old and bad models out there but just remember old doesn't automatically equal bad.
Have no fear ladies and gents, I'm sure the problems will be addressed in time.

Not all old stuff is bad...Captain Cortez...not that old and very bad, the 'new' Striking Scorpions, they look like rabbits!

Too true. How old is the Avatar? or Fabius Bile or the Phoenix lords? Old but still awesome. Heck, I still like the old harlequin sculpts (how old are those?) and the terminator variants.

These models look amazing. If only they would make them a little harder rules-wise to reflect the look and build of these steeds....

Well it says that they go with the campaign book that FW are doing so I guess they will get their own rules then.

£45 for 3...thats not to bad, shame I don't have £45 + P&P. :(

And even Xeno-Mounts doesn't really do them justice, I mean those things are pretty big.

Aye that price is pretty tempting and I agree that they need some rules of their own. The mounts look like they should have 2 Wounds and Toughness 4 at least to me :)

Hi, I used a pic of the Warhammer 40000 CCG collectible card game for my avatar :) You can find some more stuff here, though I can´t find the site anymore where I originally dl it from.

there's only one thing wrong with the Forge World Talarns.

Forge world are doing them.

Shoulda been new Guard plastics. I mean, the Marines have plastic captains, the 'nids plastic beasties... where's the second Guard plastic option (and the plastic gretchen, for that matter)?

Why not even standard metal models, which would still be cheaper?

The larget problem with anything FW is the price, If GW was doing them and in larger volume the price would be less and I thnk more people would include FW model in their armies. As for now, I willjust have to suffer and save untill I can buy my 2 to 3 FW models at a time.

That'd be the cadians.... No doubt the grots will be looked at in due time.
As for metal being cheaper...would it? I don't know the percentage of tin in a mini but the prices (http://www.lme.co.uk/dataprices_daily.asp) appear to be about $8k per tonne.
