Hello. I've been thinking of doing a 40k Malal themed daemon force, but instead of using daemons I figured would make the army a tribute to those forgotten by time (or GW). Figured who best to turn to Malal than those forgotten and destoryed :D

So would make the list with converted Firmirs, Zoats, Squats
but was wondering what other types of forgotten armies/units I can use.

Any ideas?

Fishmen?

The Jokaero also had a model once upon a time...

EDIT: Slaan and Space Slaan as well.

Great idea!

Agree concerning old-school-slann.

What about troglodytes?

Let's not forget about some discontinued human races like pygmies and nippon.

For fantasy: Chaos Dwarfs would have a lot things to be angry about.

These guys could be helpful and that picture a source of inspiration:

40K wise, you have Jokearo, Piscean, Slann, Ambull, Dominators, Zoats, Squats and Chaos Squats, Space Minators and you could probably use some of the older figures from the main ranges.

Fantasy wise, its Zoats and Slann again plus Chaos Dwarves, Nippon/Cathay, Fimir, Pygmies, Hobgoblins, Older monsters like gorgons and some of the older models for the ranges like chaos centaurs etc.

Good luck getting hold of any of them, many long expensive nights on eBay await you.

Good luck, and post a project log when you start.

I don't really know where to look, google isnt the greatest resource for this, so I'm curious if anyone can post pictures of units from the discontinued armies?

Harlequin armies (not just CWE hangers-on)
Genestealer Cults.
Sensei warbands.
Rogue Trader private armies.

Discontinued units:
Robot maniples.
Penal legions/human bombs.
Tyranid mind-slaves.
Imperial jetbike squads.
Frateris militia
Beastmen units.
Blood slaughterers.

Sort-of-not-the-same-anymore:
Eldar Dreadnoughts (there's a reason those heads were so large)
Mole mortars

and of course...
The Catachan Face Eater.

Bear in mind that Fimir never existed in 40k, and Zoats only appeared as a slave race of the Tyranids rather than an army in their own right.

Not an army as such, but I think those undead samurai were fine, too.

And one thing to not be forgotten (would work great with Malal):

Civilians!

Chaos God Queetl. Has to be done.

You mean Kweethul :p

Beastmen units.

Still exist - thanks to IA 6. ;)

Here's some more discontinued stuff, all perfect for a Malal army:
-Chaos Squats
-Chaos Androids
-Chaos Cultists (no rules currently, yes there's traitor guard but it's not the same)
-Chaos Trolls
-Chaos warriors/champions on Daemonic Steeds
-Chaos Minotaurs
-Diseased Flagellants (anyone remember those?)
-Chaos Marine Chaplains and Librarians
-Spacewolves chapter (no, not Space Wolves - these were different)
-Pirate armies (had rules in Citadel Journal)
-Space Marine field police (no kidding - it's in the RT rulebook)
-Space Marine communications officers

Don't forget the Chaos Gods Zuvassin and Nehoco.

But that was primarily WFRP.

Yeah they were intended to replace Malal.

Hm... that gives me an idea. How about Malal, Zuvassin, Nehoco and Kweethul team up and proclaim themselves the new Chaos pantheon?

not entirely sure but if i remember correctly kweethul made his appearence in slaves to darkness as in intro to how to make your own daemon lord for a warband

not sure if he was intended to be a god or whether it was just the authors way of saying let your imagination run riot

It was definitely in one of the two original Chaos books and it was in a section about creating your own minor gods. The idea was that in addition to the big 4 there were a a whole load of minor gods and players could come up with their own god specific rewards, etc.

As with a lot from the Rogue Trader time this was one of the more RPG orientated ideas and got quietly dropped along with Sensei in 2nd Edition.

Neither Zuvassin nor Necoho had "armies" – they featured only in WFRP. The same is true for Kweethul – he was there only as an example god in the second Realm of Chaos book.

Which long-lost army would I resurrect? Slann for Warhammer Fantasy – proper Slann that is, not the bloated things we get nowadays.

Hm... there's still the occasional reference to an "unknown" Chaos god sometimes (Cypher, Sons of Malice background etc.), plus there's powerful Daemon Princes that aspire to be gods - I think Kweethul was supposed to be something like that.

Genestealer Cults.

I've just managed to lay my hands on enough of the old hybrid models to do a gang for necromunda!

Zoats only appeared as a slave race of the Tyranids rather than an army in their own right.

They did have mercenary units for other armies in RT (eldar used them as shock troops). I had several squads in my pirate army. They could throw grenades the furthest (like vortex).

They were wiped out because they were too smart for a slave race, and had figured out that life could be better if they weren't slaves.

DNA kept in a bio-catalogue is much easier to keep from revolting.:skull:

Nah, zoats were still pretty revolting anyway.

Eldar used them because at least it was someone else dying for their cause.
