Recently there has been a surge in people playing at 1750pts rather than the usual 1500pt tournament standard (at least in the UK). Can we expect to see more games / competitions at this point level, will the UK GT rise up to 1750?

I put these questions to the masses, i've also gone into a little more detail on my blog (link in siggy), feel free to comments.

Can't say I've a change locally. We still play 1500 points as standard.

Try 1750 and see what you think, it actually balances out more in 5th Edition.

It does open some armies up to becoming even more powerful than before... namely the Lash / Oblit spam, which can be backed up by more plague marines to further increase the lists durability.

However, if you look at SM, it makes the 3 land raider army a little more viable, as you get more room for increasing the model count.

There are a lot of potential outcomes, both good and bad.

Is anyone heading to 'The Great Devourer' this year? Seems they are choosing to run at 1750pts...

An extra 250 points isn't that much for some armies (a Tactical Squad in a Rhino w/Power Fist isn't that far off 250), but I bet it really helps those Ork and Tyranid armies.. doubling up those (kinda sorta) Fearless Troops choices.

Then again, I play in a tiny GW store, so I'm lucky to even see 1500 :(
