is it possible to have an army like this?
i've just been kicking this idea around my head, a pure dreadnaught army thats more than half droppable?
just wondering?

2 Vernable Dreadnaughts
3 dreadnaughts
1 iron clad dreadnaught
2-3 tech marines ?
1 with TFC?
6 drop pods

You can do a 6 Dread army no problem, you'll just need some Troops to fulfill FOC requirements.

Or just play Apocalypse :p

Vehicles can't hold objectives can they?

What about troop choices, does the forgemaster make dreads troops?

Back in the old book the 6 dread list was considered a bit of a joke and not competative enough.

As far as I know, a pure dread army itself isn't possible unless you're playing apocalypse. If so, then anything is ;) If not, you'd need to fill the troops choices with something other than dreads/techs.

its true, you need 2 troops choices, just take minimum scout squads to save points, and your sorted

Well, you need some Troops choices, but otherwise with the Master of the Forge, it's fine.

Besides efficiency, Dreadnoughts look cool.

Actually, orks can legally make an all dread army. You simply need two Big Meks (each making a Deff Dread a troop) and theres 5 deff dreads, or 9 killa kans and 2 Dreds.

Since only infantry troops can claim objectives, it makes this list utter rubbish though.

You can do all of this, but need troops as has been said.

Techmarines compete for your elite choices. It seems silly that you cannot have 3-4 techmarines escorting your 6 dreadnoughts, but that's GW for you.

if you still fancy playing a different style army from everybody else but still want marines you could do a lot worse than the terminators army lists from an old white dwarf a while back (i know theres deathwing termys as troops but this is different)

all you need is a captain in termy armour, termy bodyguard (can you still do this in the new marine codex?), 3 elites? try 3 squads of terminators! couple of minimum scouts squads to save points, heavy support? land raider for the terminators! maybe a transport homer on the scouts so the guys in the land raider can deep strike where you want them

You could just use some Iron Hands Tactical Squads as troops. They wouldn't be Dreads, but they'd be all bonicized and such. The models are kind of funky and the look would fit.

Also, the TFC takes up a HS slot
