Yeah, I know, she's not in the current book, but I saw her rules online and decided I wanted to try her out. Payback to my friend who has Gotrek and Felix. Aside from that, I love the fluff behind her.

Anyways, heres my idea:

Sauron the Necromancer for the main part of the model. I know its humongous, but the original model doesnt do justice. Green stuff over the chest armor, and cut off the hands (Unless they come separate. I dont know what he builds like). Use the head from the High Elf mage sprue that has the upswept hair for a replacement head. My main concern with that would be proportion... After that, use perhaps dryad or Drycha hands for hers, considering that shes a forest spirit. My main question: What could I do for the enormous butterfly wings? I was thinking plasticard, but I don't know where to get that. Any other ideas?

You can use for sale signs from the dollar store for cheap plastic card. :P

For plastic card i use EverGreen...very good stuff!

Tho for butterfly wings...i remember seeing a wh model like that before - female elf i think with those wings...might have been the actual model of Ariel. I'd presoanlly try some stuff out like:

A) Forming a wire frame for them then make a the actual wings with semi transperent paper and paint the butterfly wing designs on it

B) Find hardish semi transperent paper and shape them according to the wing positions

Just a few toughts :)

What would better fit the lovely butterfly Queen of the Woods than a well known male LOTR miniature in evil spiky metal armour with a pin head?

Perhaps you should reconsider your project. Here some possible starting points, if you want to avoid the original model:
http://www.battlefield-berlin.de/shop/index.php?cat=WG1069&product=AND_WS06 (54mm)
http://www.battlefield-berlin.de/shop/index.php?cat=WG1097&product=E_5412 (54mm)
(more daemonic) http://www.battlefield-berlin.de/shop/index.php?cat=WG1097&product=E_5404 (75mm)

or something like these 28mm miniatures with a big sculpted base:

OR you can always stick to WH minis (To keep the same style ect) and use the Brettonian Damsels. I own a set of these and they're pretty fun to paint ect.

This one with added wings and some green stuff will make a decent wood elf me thinks:

I always thought (though I have the actual model itself) that an easy way to get one would be to go a to a store and look through the porcelin (or whatever) fairy ornaments they have.

You might be thinking of the wrong Sauron miniature. I know I was at first thinking of the regular Sauron, not Sauron the Necromancer, which, after I looked it up in the catalogue, I have to agree could be great for the conversion.

The head from the HE mage kit will probably be too small, though, and there aren't too many options in the proper size. None I can think of, really.

I'm almost tempted to go get a Sauron the Necromancer and cut up the Ariel I have, though.

You can also try this galadriel:

Perhaps this could be a good starting point. Remove all the sci-fi bits and add wings and woodelf iconography. Personally I'd probably ditch the butterfly wing idea anyway and go for feathered wings or no wings.

Okay, but still not a fan of the idea.

Okay, but still not a fan of the idea.

Incidentally neither am I. I have the model, it looks too "undead" (as it should) due to the long flowing ragged robes, not very Elven at all IMO.

I don't care if he was thinking of the wrong mini, that was classic! :D

Also, is it just me or does every link to the GW site just get you to the welcome page? Not so helpful.

This happens when you clean your cookies regularly. In that case just chose UK and the right page will show up. Otherwise enjoy the websites of GW France, Germany etc while they are still containing old content ;)

I like some of the ideas so far. The problem with using a model like the Bret Damsel is that she is simply standing on the ground. I want her to be floating through the air like the spellsingers, and larger too. The reasoning behind the necromancer is that it would represent her "war aspect," as described in her description where she becomes much larger than a normal elf. So, if I did decide to go with Sauron, what could I use for a head? Is there anything at all? Even a stretch that could work fluffwise?

A couple of notes.

The Ariel Model is bigger then your standard hero model and comes with a 40x40 base. (I have one) I would check out some 3rd party companies to find a good match. None of the current GW range really comes close.

I've thought about this myself. I stumbled across this which might make a decent figure to base the conversion off.

http://www.helldorado.fr/factions/les-demons/asaliah/index.php

I am not sure what scale it is though. I think ideally Ariel should be larger than a normal elf. Perhaps someone with better knowledge of helldorado might be able to fill you in on this.

It's perfect, but I think it would be too small. I don't know the model's size, but Helldorado scale is nearly the same as GW, and this model looks like a regular woman's size.

The idea is to portray her war aspect. Glowing green eyes, wildly flying hair, brilliant green-luster robes, shimmering wings with glowing eyes, stature twice the size of a normal elf, and that is what comes to mind.

Hey Lion, I like the link you put, but I'm having a language barrier issue. Can that be fixed?
EDIT: Nevermind! I Babel-fished it.
