Several years ago, I think it was a Games Day, there was a huge display of the siege of terra. Does anyone have pics of that or a link where I can find them?

I remember it being pretty cool but haven't been able to dig up any coverage.

thanks!

Well you can see a load of pictures on the Stuff of Legends site here (http://www.sodemons.com/gwmuseum/index.htm) (Look under both dioramas & Horus).

I've also got a copy of the old Portent image file with some pictures, you can see them on my Pbase site here. (http://www.pbase.com/brimstone/emperors_palace)

Probably earlier than that, the display I'm sorry to say is long gone.

And all the vehicles were built specifically for the diorama.

in an old white dwarf, it says that the titans were built by 2 seperate teams. one from the hq and another from a store. i will try and find more specific details.

edit------

UK WD #229 the black gobbo special
p40-41

GAMESDAY 1998

Tim adcock, mark bedford and richard steadman built the imperial warlord

"a team guided by the lenton store manager andy foster" built the chaos titan. standing in at 4' tall.

the whole display was 6' tall and 12' wide and had over 2000 miniatures including over 100 blood angels terminators

one of the Warlord titans went on a tour of the stores in 2000 (it stayed in Newcastle a lot longer than it should have)

I may be going crazy, but I am sure that at one point there were some milk bottles outside the gates to the palace. They were there one year, but not the next IIRC.

Or, I could be going crazy. :-)

No you are correct, GW were always putting little things into the dioramas. Buffy is in the 'Vengance of the vampire' diorama.

is that the one with Wilheim Hague in it (god i hate it when GW tries to do politics)

Damn, must of missed that. Well, the emperor has to get the milk for his cheerios from somewhere.

I wonder if micheal Caine made an appearance in "massacre at big toof river"

"Will you stop shooting those bloodly sluggas at me!"

He actually made an appearance in the 'Battle For Glazers Creek' battle report

Yea i know that GW should put out a more recent Diroama of the seige of the Imperial palace with all the new models and stuff. That would rock. I would love to see it in person. Got that Rocks.

Very cool diorama, especially the terrain and the Titans (I would love to get templates for one of those).
The sheer scale is amazing!

First time I have seen decent pics of it,
if it ever got re-done theres a lot of things they should add.
Hordes of chaos cultists and mutants amoung the Traitor marines, so the the ground is barely visible.
Representation from the other traitor legions (I know this is only a tiny cross section of a massive seige, but it would still be nice).
A whole lot of Imperial guardsmen fighting and dying with their backs to the wall, and more of them marshalling behind the walls.
Kharn the betrayer, streaked in gore, fighting in the breach surrounded by piles of corpses.
Some chaos landraiders...

Inspiring stuff.

So this diorama ended up like the others then? Why do they shread perfectly good dioramas? The real question though is what do they do with all the minis.

Haha - I love the way Titans just go to highlight that they would make everything redundent on the battlefield of 40k.

A single cannon blast could pretty much kill everyone in the diorama - daft.

Shame there arent any better pictures of Angron. (he is vaguely present on the right corner with two pet Juggernauts)
