Hey. I haven't posted a list in a while, so I thought I'd like some criticism on a list for next month's local tournament. I have chosen to go shooting heavy because no matter how well orchestrated my assaults are, my rolls invariably suck in combat. I'm a champ outside hand-to-hand. With that in mind I've taken many shooting units supported by a few combat specialists to handle units that have been chewed up by bow fire.

This is more competitive than my usual lists, so could you please comment on the beardiness of this list. Would it be okay to play against for daemons, WoC, dwarves, TK, and many others?

I'm on the fence regarding which talismans to give to my alters. Switching the two might be the better choice. What do you think?

I dont think thats shooting heavy, there simply arent enough models for me to deem it missile heavy. I would try to get more models in some how but i dont have the we army book with me and im kinda busy :)

I would take the not glade guard as scouts, I would keep them regular.

You could use some redirecters in this list also, Some Glade Guard maybe.

Lord~
Alter Kindred: Bow of Loren, Arcane Bodkins, Enchanted shield, Stone of Crystal Mere, LA, gw

Nice for a shooty army, but I would give Glamourweave to him.

Heroes~
Alter Kindred: HotH, Glamourweave, LA, shield, gw

A shooty army without Hail of Doom Arrow??? Blasphemy!!! Give the Glamourweave to the Lord and give HoDA to this Alter.

Spellsinger: lvl2, 2 scrolls
Spellsinger: lvl2, scroll, heartstone

If you are going magic-defense, you don't need the extra levels of magic, drop them.

Core~
10 Glade Guard: musician
10 Glade Guard: musician

Ok.

10 Scouts: musician

Where do you plan to hide 10 scouts??? Use another 10 Glade Guard from them.

9 Dryads
9 Dryads

8 dryads is a proper unit size, and you will save some points.

Special~
Wardancers: musician

7 with musician is an optimal unit.

Rare~
6 Waywatchers

Ok

Treeman

A shooty army does not need a Treeman. If you want heavy punch against the rain of arrows' survivals, use a unit of three Treekin.

With the saved points you can add a Great Eagle to march-block, and maybe a unit of Glade Riders to divert some nasty and fast enemies.

Hope this helps

I think you are correct.

A shooty army without Hail of Doom Arrow??? Blasphemy!!! Give the Glamourweave to the Lord and give HoDA to this Alter.

I know it's blasphemy, but I never roll well with it. Also, I dislike using the 'standard' alter just because it's standard. I know my alter is much different, but it's the principle of the thing.

If you are going magic-defense, you don't need the extra levels of magic, drop them.

I've considered doing this often. However, I think that even if my magic isn't going to be powerful, I like to participate in every phase.

Where do you plan to hide 10 scouts??? Use another 10 Glade Guard from them.

I wasn't so much planning to hide them. Rather, the idea was to have a group of skirmishing archers so that all three groups of archers can easily shoot at the same target. Do you think this approach is valid? Maybe two groups of 5 scouts? Or would an eagle be a better choice overall.

8 dryads is a proper unit size, and you will save some points.

I've questioned this issue. Is eight the best number? Having nine makes the unit slightly more expensive and does not add attacks usually, but the extra dryad allows you to loose four models and maintain unit strength five (for claiming quarters, flanking, and keeping their victory points). I've played them in units of both sizes and been happy with both. What do you think of my critique of nine?

7 with musician is an optimal unit.

There are seven, I just didn't write it.

A shooty army does not need a Treeman. If you want heavy punch against the rain of arrows' survivals, use a unit of three Treekin.

With the saved points you can add a Great Eagle to march-block, and maybe a unit of Glade Riders to divert some nasty and fast enemies.

I will take this into careful consideration. I chose the treeman because I can hide him in the woods more easily and he's more maneuverable. My army as it stands also doesn't offer many points per unit making it difficult to kill enough to get ahead.

Hope this helps

It does indeed. Thanks everyone.

Do you really think I need redirectors? GR are quite expensive and easily killed. An eagle might be worth downgrading the scouts for. Although, I don't think I have enough hand-to-hand units to warrant taking redirectors?

I believe the rules state that if you have a magic weapon you must use it over a mundane, so the GW on your Lord would be counter-acted by BoL.

You may uses a mundane weapon in close combat if you have a magic ranged weapon.

If you want scouts. why have them in units larger than 5, since you've got the glade guards to allow for more units?

Then I'd dump the Glamourweave for the HoDA. The weave doesn't help him in CC, where you want him, and the HoDA gives him a purpose on his first turn.

Consider the Glamourweave instead of the SoCM. The SoCM is for protecting dragons.

You do know, that you do not have to use all you character options right? I'd dump some for more troops. Especially the machine-gun-alter is a real waste in my book.
