View Full Version : Rusty (getting back into the game)

Well I havenít played a game in 3 years and picked up a paint bush as many times as years.
I stopped playing when I was 18, as woman and partying took up most of my time and money. But Now I'm 21 at Uni and I feel I need a hobby again for the down time.

So decided to delve back into games workshop. (Itís like hotel California, you can check out, but you can never leave :p)
I had a good trip to the casino which has given me the mula to afford an army (£20 on green and it came in for fellow fans of roulette) I still have my old iron warriors about but fancied picking up Nids again, last time I played them was when the 3rd ed plastics came out.
So Iíve picked up a mini rulebook on ebay, a battalion and the book to have a play with and have been working on a 1500 point list ( I assume thatís still the norm for pickup games?).
I was wondering if you guys could get me up to speed a bit with what Iíve missed, any tips and hints for nids.

Comments on the test ripper I've attached are appreciated I only have a 3.2 camera on my phone but I did my best thereís a lot more blending than shows on the pic.

Cheers guys

Welcome back mate. I'm more of a blackjack lad myself, but each to his own ;)

1500 is still the norm IIRC.

And for nids, Well, I don't play nids, so don't ask me. I can tell you this though, that test Ripper, will stay a test ripper, cause rippers suck :)

Nice paint job for a lowly ripper :)

Cheers guys. Yeah I didn't think they looked impressive not being scoring units with the empisis on objectives and troops only scoring.
I'm going to use them as wound markers rather than dice which always get knocked.
Thank you I'm glad I can still paint I was worrid I'd have lost it.

1500 points is the norm in the uk - in the usa they play 1750, 1850, or even 2k.

Don't think that because only troops can take objectives you have to max them out. 3 troops or maybe 4 is fine as the rest of the army can still contest and of course kill.

With nids i would recommend reading up on carnifex builds. You may find they can be far, far, far shootier than you could ever think.
