Dear reader,
In this fine thread, I, OutOfContext, will deal with the marvellous painting adventures of myself. Dealing with...
Talking like that takes it out of me.
So hello! Right, lets get to it. Currently on the list of things to do is;

Finish my Space Marines
Continue with the Orks

Easy. Right, let's have a look at where the magic happens.
Niiice. Next, the shelves of doom.
And lastly, the shelf of Orks, the priority project.

Coming up next, the Warboss, some boyz and my looted wagon :D

11-02-2009, 12:32
Introducing, Grim-Gul, Warboss of the Red Maw Boyz.

You're probably thinking, 'Grey?! Grey?! Grey is the colour of all things unorky!'.
Well, true. The main reason my Orks are grey is because I suck at painting green. But there's no denying they are a little inspired my the Locust from Gears of War. Whatever. I likes it.
You can also see my proxy lightbox there too. Made of a 12" Joker box and some A4 paper :D
Now, to go re-photograph the wagon and boyz with the new shiny sparkly camera :D

11-02-2009, 12:58
First mob o' boyz fully painted. These are pretty much the blue print for all the other boyz squad. Quick and easy paint job too.

Might go back and bloody up some weapons at a later date. Next up, the WIP looted wagon. Funnest thing I've done in ages. First attempt at scratch-building and it's about 80% plasticard. Note all the 'planning' scribbled on the side of it.

Okay, a list of things to do for the Orks;

2 x 11 boyz
5 nobz
2 deffkoptas
Looted wagon
10 lootas
10 burna boyz
15 gretchin and a runtherd

Then for the Space Marines (more stuff on them later);

3 tactical Marines
3 terminators
5 sternguard

So not too bad for them. Once the weather gets better, I can become a painting steamroller and fly through this stuff.

11-02-2009, 14:14
Looking good so far...
By any chance have you been reading 'Rise of the Tau (http://forum.blpublishing.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=216)' over at Black Library? If not then marvellous grey orkses you got there!

11-02-2009, 14:19
Thanks daemonkin.
I does love me some fanfic now and again. Can I get a brief blurb about what it's about, before I get start reading it?

11-02-2009, 14:23
Nice looking stuff. I like the idea of gray orks, myself. (If I were doing them, I'd probably have more contrast -- darker inks, lighter highlights -- but that's a matter of taste, really.)

The looted wagon looks great so far. Maybe nick up the plasticard, to simulate battle damage (scratches, gouges, pings, dents)? Either way, it already appears very authentically orky. Looking forward to seeing it painted.

11-02-2009, 14:54
Cheers tinfoil
I like the grim-dark feel the orks have, so I kind of left highlights to a minimum. The normal boyz don't have any at all.
I'm kind of leaving chips on the looted wagon until painting, then eating them.
[/forced joke].
Seriously, the photo doesn't seem to have shown up all the scratches very well, but I just gave it a battering with a file for good measure :D

EDIT: Though I'd stick some better photoes of the Marines in here. Presenting, the Sons Of Edge.

11-02-2009, 15:39
Marines are nice.

Outofcontext you have a whole universe of WOW coming towards you. ROTT is set 600 years in the future of 40k. Currently on chapter 206ish it is a story that wraps up and ties together all those loose ends that GW left behind. It is about a time-travelling ultramarine chaplain and his quest to find out what has happened in the intervening period that caused the Tau to become masters of the galaxy. Why do the Necrons flee. Where are the tyranids? Why are the orks grey? Where the hell is the Inquisition and why ain't humanity kicking the living snot outta these Xenos filth.

Seriously, i lost 2 weeks of my life when i discovered the fanfic trying to catch up. I now eagerly await each installment.

That is a nice lot of marines you have there. And coincidentally could fit right in with the new Space Wolf codex. Convenient, eh?

11-02-2009, 15:45
Dude...I am SO reading that ASAP. Sounds awesome :D
There's about...70 odd Marines there. With enough room for about...10 more :p I was trying to finish a battle company but I just don't have room. I've been grinding away at those Marines for about 18 months now. Those sternguard have been like that since September sadly :( Need to crack on with them soon.

11-02-2009, 16:14
Out of Context

Marines are fabulous.. i really like the work you have done on them

The orks... are grey... lol... which kind of ruins my ... big and green.... and rules are all obscene chant lol.

That said.. nice work

My name is Daniel and i am a wargamer

11-02-2009, 16:20
Thanks Dan :D
I'm pleased someone likes the Marines. I was never really happy with them. I always though they were sloppy, but cheers!
I think I'll try a grey Snikrot next, in the exact colours of yours, just to prove grey > green :p

11-02-2009, 17:10
rather impressive log, that tanks quite the little scratch build. i'm impressed. Sons of edge? intresting scheme, like a crush between a pre-heresy world eater and a relictor.

11-02-2009, 17:18
Thanks alot G. Hawke. I appreciate a scratch-building god coming here :D
The scheme for the Marines kind of comes from me only being able to paint grey to an effective degree.

Seems you guys quite dig the Marines, I'll sort some close ups out later probably :)

11-02-2009, 17:24
I like the grey Orks. It's always nice to see something different.

The Looted Wagon looks awesome, the plasticard work is great for a first scratchbuild.

11-02-2009, 17:41
Seems you guys quite dig the Marines, I'll sort some close ups out later probably :)

can i put a request in for some of the blue armoured men and your main force commander with the cullen head? theyve rather caught my intrest.

btw, ever heard of a story called Rise of the Tau? Its a fan fic (by a published author) who's got grey skinned orks under tau control. either way, i forgot to say, really intresting to see not green orks. gives that fungie-idea much nicer than 'one tone' orks.

11-02-2009, 17:53
@ Ganymene; Thanks a lot. I'm really pleased with how well the wagon came out to say it was just a mad dream to begin with.

@ G. Hawke; demonkin beat you to it I'm afraid. Had a flick through the first few bits, and it's pretty amazing. I need to get down to reading it.
Blue armoured guys? You mean the guys to the left? I'll pick some highlights from those guys out for you. The 'Culln' head is actually a termie sergeant head with a GS mohawk.

Expect some more pics by the end of the night then!

Chapter Master made from spare bitz. Based of Calgar quite obviously. Fun little build.

Standard Bearer, Company Captain and sergeant from the 4th Company aka 'Blue armoured men'. Look how dusty his cape is! They haven't been disturbed for ages. Oh, and some banner detail:
It saddens me how bad these guys have aged...

11-02-2009, 21:22
Can I request a gander at your Khador stuff, they look ace. Also were and how long did it take you to make that wagon/truck?

11-02-2009, 23:24
Nice looking stuff

Are the Sons of Edge vegan too? :P

12-02-2009, 01:38
Nice orks OutOfContext. I personally really like the smooth highlighting and shading. It gives the effect of realism without over doing it. Its nice and dark/gritty, and that looted wagon just made me smile. Very orky.

The marines look pretty good too, I can safely say that I would be weary if fate put me against them on the battlefield.

12-02-2009, 18:28
Thanks you adoring public! I love you all! :D

@ donuter: I'll be sure to stick my Khador stuff up over the weekend. There's only the starter box though as I lacked enthusiasm for it tbh.
The wagon took about 3 days building. 1 day for the main body, the main detail and the fine stuff each.

@ Earthbeard: Yes :p I'll be so glad if you got the reference.

@ CaptainMatt: Thanks a lot, it really means something to have people compliment my work :)

12-02-2009, 19:00
Thats a pretty big marine army!! I like the guy with the Mohawk.

The ork trukk looks great. I'm not sure on the grey orks though. You could try a grey with a tinge of green if such a colour even exists. Any chance of some close ups of the battlewagon?

12-02-2009, 19:02
All of your marine stuff is looking ace!

I would like to see a close up of your chappie dred (I assume that this is the FW mini) as I have yet too see one painted here on the tubes.

keep up the great work!

12-02-2009, 19:09
@ shaw3029: It's funny you should say that. I was thinking of trying a test on one of the orks by doing my grey, but using a green wash instead. A plan forms...
Battlewagon is next up for some pics, along with the nobz, deffkopta and gretchin. It's too dark here to take any pics when I get in from college sadly.

@BLARGAG!!!: Thanks a lot :) I'll add the chappie dread to my list of pics.

So guys, quick plan for the weekend.

Paint some nobz if the weather is fine.
Get photoes of the nobz, battlewagon, deffkopta, gretchin and dread. Then rephotograph the pics I did for Hawke in better light.

Looks like Saturdays gonna be a busy day. Thank god I have no work to do on Sunday :D
Quick note to you all; thanks a lot for coming and being positive about all my stuff. It's really touching. *wipes tear from eye*
I owe you all a beer some time :)

Maybe :p

I got the reason as Maroon said "A cOMMITMENT for Life, Vegan Straightedge!"

Really loving the grey orks actually, I've been looking at them more and more and they've grown more and more, remind me of the mountain orcs from forgotten realms.

Any chance of tut on that scratchbuilt ork trukk/wagon?

You're my hero!

Ever since I read the 'Orcs' series of books by Stan Nicholls I've wanted to do an Ork army with grey skin, but never had the models, or balls. Nicholls never describes the skin colour, and its set in a Fantasy world but I pictured them with grey skin, and your army just looks ace.

Definitely looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

13-02-2009, 18:11
@ Earthbeard: Plus 1 cookie for you sir :D I used to be straight edge when I started the army and wanted something personal in there, so it kinda happned like that. And I can knock you up a tutorial a lil later actually, once I take a photo of my planning sheet.

@ Saul Tarvitz: Thanks a lot! :D Finally, I have a follower!

Rightio, a small update for you. Tomorrow, there will be either more painted nobz or I'll be off to Nottingham to buy new goodies :D Either of which you shall all see. Also, I'll put up a tutorial for the looted wagon later on.

Thanks for reading!

Looted Wagon; A Study of and a Guide to Scratchbuilding
By OutOfContext

I thought this deserved a new post, so here it is! A lot of you have asked about it, so this will not only be a guide on how to make it but also my own tips/inspirations, using the wagon as an example.
Okay, before you get any of your materials together you need a basic idea of what you want to build, how it moves, what weapons it has, etc. Here's the basic sketches I did before I built anything. All the ideas are just based around the top half of a Leman Russ chassis, nothing more.
As you can see, it's gibberish. All in all, it's just some doodles, with some measurements added. All I knew I wanted was a WW! era tank with an open back for the boyz, similar to an open-top Chimera. Okay, so you've got your idea, now you can start getting together some materials.
Your bare essential tools are as follows (these are the only tools I used):

Sharp craft knife
Hobby saw
Pin vice and different size drill bits
Various small files
Sculpting tool
Ruler (preferably metal, but I had to use a plastic one as I'd lost mine. And it shows)
Thin marker pen

Everything's kind of obvious there. All the things on there are GW brand, minus the ruler, pencil and pen. The rulers for exact measurements, the pencils for drawing on plasiticard and the pen for drawing on plastic bits.
Next up, building materials. Here's the stuff I used:

Top half of a Leman Russ chassis
Big wheels from the big gunz platform
Imperial Guard tracks
Cadian flamer canister
Bottle top
Various spears/lances to use as bolts/rivets
2 ork shootas
Heavy flamer from the Macharius
Plasticard (0.010", 0.015" and 0.030")
Heavy flamer from the IG tank accessories sprue
Searchlight from the CSM tank sprue
Rectangular bit a razorback/predator turret fits on to
SM rhino window guard (the flippy bit on the front of the tank)
Paper clips
Piston from the IG tank dozer blade
Cities of Death building support beams
Rhino or Landraider door (I'm not too sure, but I think it's a rhino)
Small door from the side of a Leman Russ
2 25mm round bases

There's some stuff I'm missing, because I'm not sure what they are, like the things on the inside door. Nevermind. Next, the step-by-step of what I did.

Measured up the Leman Russ chassis and calculating rough measurements for the rest of the tank around that
Build up the chassis of the wagon using plasticard. It was really nothing more than a funny shaped box by the end of this stage, with sides, a front and a bottom.
Build the sides (where the tracks would go). Both were nothing more than 2 identical sheets of plasticard glued to either side of a spare bit of sprue the same length as the tracks.
Glue to the chassis, lining it up as appropriate.
Glue in the wheels, using old spure to get a flush fit.
Add 2 25mm diameter bases glued together, and use them as a middle wheel for the tracks. Then you can bend the tracks to fit, and glue them on.
Glue some plasticard over where the lascannon should go on the Leman Russ chassis. Use the Rhino window guard to make a window and detail with plasticard.
Cut the heavy flamer from the fabric part from the heavy flamer on the IG tank sprue. Next, add the heavy flamer from the Macharius (not essential, just a matter of taste) and add to the front.
Get your bottle top and bend/glue some plasticard around. Glue on the big shoota (made from the barrels of 2 shootas) and detail with plasticard.

Last, just detail as you like. With plasticard, left over bits, etc, etc. I can't go in to too much detail as I'm not sure what I used :p
So, there's a very very rough guide to my Looted Wagon. As final advie when scratch-building, always:
Measure and cut accurately.
Dry fit all the fragging time.
EVERY MISTAKE is salvagable when building ork vehicles.

Hope you enjoyed that, and keep on reading :)

14-02-2009, 16:21
I hate posting 3 times in a row, but I have goodies for you all!
Sadly, today's trip to Nottingham resulted in no swag, but I did get a new 8GB memory card for my camera, so not too bad.
Now, brought to you in colour, more pictures! First up, Chaplain Dreadnought.
Next, the centrepiece of the army, my Land Raider, Minor Threat.

14-02-2009, 16:23
Now, some Orks. First, the Battlewagon, Da Black Bull.

14-02-2009, 16:25
Finally, possibly my favourite model from my Orks, a converted Runtherd.

I'll update one of the previous posts with better pics of the standard bearer, captain and sergeant for my Marines as well.
Enjoy! :D

14-02-2009, 16:27
great stuff dude! however one suggestion would be to either add a black wash, or a white-mix highlight to the grey on the SM, they look a bit flat...

14-02-2009, 16:31
Thanks a lot Hawke. The Marines are very old now (about 12 months since I did them), so updating them with some better highlights is something I need to do, but never did when I started them, being a hasty and foolish young boy :(

Oh, and here's the front of the banner for you all.

14-02-2009, 16:32
I'm sXe so I found your Chapter really quite interesting (although the name's perhaps a little cheesy!) I look forward to seeing more of them.

14-02-2009, 16:35
I'm sXe so I found your Chapter really quite interesting (although the name's perhaps a little cheesy!) I look forward to seeing more of them.

I do salute you sir, for having so much more willpower than I ever did!
Well now you mention it, the names kind of proxied, seeing as I could never decide on one. The only fluff I did on these guys was their home planet was called Edge (probably a nickname) and they were the purest of pure but also bad ass.
On that note, anyone who knows where the name of the Land Raider is from gets a super cookie :D

Also, for anyone that's not a fan of grey orks, I'll be posting up pics of the only green Orc (note I said Orc) I've ever done, just to see what you think of it.

EDIT: And here they are.
Now this guy is the GD07 Orc Warboss. In my opinion, he is the best model GW has ever produced. Ever. Full of character and detail, and a joy to paint. Personally, I think he's the best model I've ever painted, and if you disagree I will cry :p

Commissar Molotov
14-02-2009, 18:10
Anyone with any knowledge of sXe ought to know where the name of the LR is from! One of my friends actually got to meet Ian MacKaye, though in his Fugazi years and not his Minor Threat years. My DIY Chapter, the Castigators, were influenced by the sXe ideology to a degree with their obession on 'purity', though I twisted the theme and altered it a fair deal.

Like I said, I look forward to seeing more! Nice warboss, too.

14-02-2009, 18:24
You make me wish that we had a punk scene around here.
We get mall-punks and nothing else.
The closest I've ever been to a true punk gig is going to see Misfits in September in 2007. They did a couple of Black Flag songs as Dez was on guitar, and it really made the gig. Good times.

Anyway, the rest of you loyal fans, I will be painting up some nobz tomorrow, and probably getting some pics up of the full squad. It also looks like I'll end up taking unit pics of the Marines, seeing as they've got such a positive reaction. Send me some pic requests if you have any favourites.
Which reminds me I need to take photoes of my Khador stuff. Darn!

15-02-2009, 14:05
Back with an update guys.
So seeing as Warseer has been lifeless all weekend (as has this thread), I thought I'd show you some PIP nobz.
Just basecoating them at the moment, but they should be done by tonight hopefully.
Also, here's some Khador.
Just a battlegroup shot at the moment, and I'll stick some closeups up later on if you're interested.
Keep on a reading! :)

EDIT: Aaaaaaaand here are the nobz. The 5 I've done today (in dark photo galore), then the full unit. I'm annoyed how the flash makes the weathering on the brass so bright as well

15-02-2009, 17:34
Continuing from above, and whether you care or not you heartless dogs, here are some lovely closeups of the Khador!

I'm pretty pleased with the Warcaster as she was the first time I'd done female skin. I'm also glad my painting has come on a bit since I did these guys.
So, comments if you please, requests for photoes, homo-erotic chit chat, yadda yadda welcome!

15-02-2009, 18:39
Nice updates as usual good sir.

Thanks for the Tutorial as well, gonna have a bash over the next week.

15-02-2009, 18:46
Glad I could be of service :)

I'm looking forward to seeing your looted wagon too, just as long as it's not better than mine :p

Rightio fellow reader (singular, as I've been quadruple posting recently :p), the plan for this coming week is to hopefully paint a deffkopta tomorrow, or failing that, 2 next weekend. Also, I'll probably do some fluff during the week (or if you're lucky, tonight) on the Orks, to explain the grey skin properly and just to add some depth to them. So, hit me up with some suggestions or anything you'd like to see.

Da Red Maw Boyz: The Who, What, Where and Why of Grey Orks
By The Fluff Boss http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z112/benxm/Other/thefluffboss-1.jpg

Part 1: In the grim, dark and scary 41st Millenium

Sometime during the 39th Millenium, a great big battle was fought in the Segmentum Obscurus, possibly no more than an inch away from the Eye of Terror. In the *insert Latin name here* system, over the ashen Forge World *insert bad pun here*, Waaagh! Bargh did commence on a campaign of evil (and doom). Eventually, some stuff happened, probably Space Marine related (as it was close to Medusa, and Bad Pun supplied the Iron Hands) that meant the Waagh was defeated. OR WAS IT?!
No. A handful of orks hid away in the deep tunnels and caves of Bad Pun, seeking out a petty existence on the many, many radioactive mushrooms. Over the next 2000 years, the Orks grew in size and cunning, forming small tribes that fought in the great deserted tunnels that they called their home. The size and cunning just came from Mork and Gork (they were feeling nice), but bizarrely and barely believably, the Orks skin had eventually turned to a dark grey hue, and their eyes to a piercing yellow, all the better for seeing in the dark with.
Anyway, eventually a Warboss emerged from the grey Orks and united all the smaller weedy tribes (original eh?) and formed the Red Maw Boyz.
And this Warboss' name was...Grim-Gul!
Beginning with a few raids on isolated manufactoriums and looting the machinery and half-built vehicles, the Orks began to build themselves weapons and wagons, so that they might begin to claim Bad Pun for themselves. Very soon after, larger and more ferocious attacks swept the world, as the Orks destroyed city after city, and annihilated PDF force after PDF force.
Eventually, this activity drew the attention of the Iron Hands, whose forces were beginning to grow weary at the lack of supplies from the planet. And as the drop pods and Thunderhawks of the Iron Hands descended onto the ash wasters of Bad Pun, Grim-gul knew he had found an enemy to test his Waaagh!'s might...

Note: none of the works of The Fluff Boss are even remotely associated with OutOfContext, as he is far more witty and intelligent than The Fluff Boss, but is just too lazy to do fluff himself.

16-02-2009, 15:57
Hello again, non-existant readers. Got a little tiny update for you today. 2 deffkoptas, 1 painted today. Just 1 more to go for a full squad.
Comments and questions please :)

Really like the grubby paintscheme on all of your armies, especially on dem orksies ;) Now find yer bitz box and go a bit crazy with them greens!

I can see you quickly becoming my Ork God, guiding me towards the bitz box again and again :D

Thanks a lot Red. I'm planning Looted Wagon no.2 at the moment 1, but I'm kind of stumped as what to do. Probably armoured car...

1 And also scratch built killa kans

16-02-2009, 16:56
My fav chassie for the looted wagon is the leman russ, I use it on both of mine. In fact I use it on the gobsmasha as well lol! But the point is that the leman russ kit gives you a lot of flexibility and looks great.

That`s my 5 cents :)

16-02-2009, 17:01
Hmmm...decisions, decisions. I'll play about with that Red, cheers! :D
Don't suppose you know any good idea for killa kans while you're at it do you? (I hate the models :eyebrows:)

Also, expect concept sketches later :D

Red Skullz
16-02-2009, 18:04
Well this is how I made mine:

Just a simple plasti-tube & some gubbinz from the box ;)

16-02-2009, 18:58
They look very nice Red. Are they on 60mm bases? They only look little :p

Okay then guys, I said I'd bring concepts, and here they are.

Just some doodles I've played about with. I've pretty much decided I want big stompy skulls with arms. That's it. No way around it.
As you can see I've played around with some weapon arms (I quite like to loota harness idea on one of the big shootas). You can also see a tracked Kan at the bottom. I'll probably go for a steampunk style coal-fueled engine (like Warmachine mechs [I forget the proper name]), with lots of little exhauts.
Before anyone asked, these guys are so low on my priority list, I can't even see them. But if you ask nicely I'll try and knock them up soon-ish. So comments are always welcome on the Kans, as these are just the bare bones.

Also, I need your help on working on a big conversion project I want in the army, as I just feel it's lacking major conversions beyond the looted wagon. I'm messing around with the idea of mushroom men 'ard boys (basically orks that are more 'shroom than animal) with lots of fungi coming off them, weapons merging into the body, etc. So any ideas for that are welcome and needed.
This is also one of the few oppurtunities you'll see me doing 'community commissioning'. Basically, give me an idea for a unit for the Orks, and I'll see if I can't make it happen, as I've hit a creative bump with the Orks at the moment.
And also The Fluff Boss will be back soon enough, to explain other random crap that needs explaining.
I think that's everything. So, comments and questions please :)

Col. Wales
17-02-2009, 00:38
How about Waaagh and roll boyz? (kinda like the retro rock influenced orcs of 2nd ed)

Saul Tarvitz
17-02-2009, 09:42
I like the idea of walking skulls for Kans, very Grim'n'Dark. What do you plan on making them from when you get to it?

As for the Mushroom Boyz I think Orky versions of the Chaos Obliterators could work - with the built in weaponry and such, though I'm not a big fan of mushrooms growing out of models, but that's just personal preference.

17-02-2009, 18:10
@ Col. Wales: If you mean the classic 'Goff Rockers', I have those models somewhere in a box :D I must repaint them! Another project...
On that note, more funky haircuts are due for these guys (see mullet Runtherd posted earlier).

@ Tarvitz: Plasticard and gubbinz obviously :D
I'll have to have a chat with Red and G. Hawke about it. They're the few scratch-building and conversion demi-gods I know.
On the mushroom boyz; I can't believe I didn't think of Obliterators before! Thankyou very much, I owe you many pints. They'd probably be more crusty/warty than big mushrooms, but I'll draw up some ideas later.

Many decisions, many decisions...

17-02-2009, 21:09
Back with a late night update. Thought this one needed some explaining so new post ahoy. Many of my spies died to bring you this information.

Just a more technical drawing of one of the Kans. Note the scribblings out (I haven't drawn in ages!).
Main points to consider:

Steampunk engine with one main vent and 1-2 smaller ones.
Seperate jaw piece where the legs join on to the body
Weapons mounted on the skull part
Armour plates to form the nose/teeth
Boss pole on the back just to make it Orky

I'm pretty happy with the concept, and there's only the other weapon arms I need to have a play around with. I think the 3 Kans will revolve around this concept, with smaller alterations rather than 3 totally different skulls seen in the original plans.
I just need to fine tune these guys, which isn't that urgent I suppose. So all I need from you guys is some input/ideas, and the normal guys (you know who you are) to go 'Looking good!'.

@ Col. Wales: If you mean the classic 'Goff Rockers', I have those models somewhere in a box :D I must repaint them! Another project...
On that note, more funky haircuts are due for these guys (see mullet Runtherd posted earlier).

Yep those are the ones I was thinking of but new Kustom versions.

I really like the koncept behind Skull Kans but there's something that doesn't look quite right to me, they seem too thin I think. Maybe if the furnace was bigger on the back that might help to thicken them up a bit.

They have a lot of potential these Skull Kans of yours, so I look forward to seeing them a builded.

As for the pints, you can condense it into a bottle of whisky and send by haggis to the frozen north. :D

18-02-2009, 10:29
@ Col. Wales: Good god, you're right man! I had that very idea a while ago, but I'd never touched plasticard back then so didn't feel confident with it. Now might be the time to try it...

@ Tarvitz: You've got it spot on about the thin Skullz. Just blame it on my lack of proportion when drawing. I might elongate the skulls and make them thick to stop them looking like evil potato faces.
On a seperate note, where abouts up north are we talking? If it's near Edinburgh then I might well be able to deliver them personally :D

Okay, seeing as I have the day off, I'll try get some updated sketches up with better Skullz. Till then, g'day to you all :)

18-02-2009, 10:43
Based on your concept drawings, I think that your "Walkin' 'Eadz" Killa Kanz will look great.

Saul Tarvitz
18-02-2009, 11:21
On a seperate note, where abouts up north are we talking? If it's near Edinburgh then I might well be able to deliver them personally :D

I'm up in Obar Dheathainn, its about two and a half hours north of Dun Edainn, though still on the same coast. Or if you've not taken First Year Gaelic - Aberdeen. Obar Dheathainn being Aberdeen and Dun Edainn being Edinburgh. :D I'm down in Edinburgh semi-regularly like as its where my girlfriend hails from originally, intend to live there eventually.

Just thinking on these Skulla Kans, spent quite a bit of last night thinking on them actually, and I reckon that if you tracked one of them it could look rather rocking. The tracks from the Wartrakk box should be big enough I think. Maybe switching up the positioning of the weapons compared to the stock models could work too, shoulder mounted guns perhaps, though I'm not sure what you could use to fill the space that'd leave...

18-02-2009, 14:26
@ shabbadoo: Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it :)

@ Tarvitz: You're about as far away as me then :p Me and the parents normally go up to see my sister in Edinburgh now and again on the train. You'll have to give me a heads up next time you go on down

Anyway, been playing about with the Kans all day today. Trying to get the proportions right. If they're too boxy, they'll fall over, if they're too wide they'll not move, etc. I think my scratch-built tracks will be based off the wartrakk ones actually Tarvitz. I'm not forking out money for those god-awful models! :p
I think I might play around with some 'proper' hinged legs (more human) rather than the stompy ones of the normal kans. I just can't find a way to make them work :(

Right, I'll update you with a plan for this week then.

Continue to plan Kans
Paint some gretchin at the weekend

Not much to do really. I'll get some guys based later I reckon. Till next time, keep on reading :D

18-02-2009, 15:29
Guys! Guys! I did it! I cracked the legs :D

So, I've been sketching like mad all day, trying to sort the legs I mentioned earlier. Here's a morning of sketching here, where I tried to get the proportions and the legs right, as well as some little notes.

Then, after suffering from scratch-builder's block all day, I had an idea! Make the legs more human! The answer was so obvious, but it had avoided me this whole time! So I sketched and sketched...

...until I finally found my perfect Kan.

His legs are a milimeter or 2 long, but I don't care. This guy is what my kans will look like. I have climbed a mountain today, and I will sit on top of it a while and be a shining light for converters everywhere who have problems that need solutions!

So yeah, I cracked the Kans :p I finally have a construction I like, and will be drawing them properly very soon.

Saul Tarvitz
18-02-2009, 16:14
That seems to have cracked it, looks much more feasible now. I do feel that a chicken-legged Kan is in order now though, giving you three different methods of locomotion. After all no true Mek makes the same thing twice.

The first picture you posted looks more like what I was envisaging, the blockier bottom with 'uge exhausts and a thinner 'cab' part. It looks the business.

18-02-2009, 16:51
I'm glad I've finally perfected the design :D
The Kans will have the top pic cab part, then 1 will have treads, 1 will have legs and 1 will have chicken walker legs (maybe with a grot peering out the hatch waving his arms ala Chewbacca).
Looking back on these drawings, it's obvious how excited I was when I drew them :p

On another note, got the new WD this morning. It was mint
Best WD in a while, and got a free poster of some Stompa art too!

Col. Wales
18-02-2009, 21:33
Given the shape your going for on your Kans a decent start point might be IG sentinels.

Red Skullz
18-02-2009, 22:02
They`re on 40mm, manned by grotz ya know ;)

Them sketches look good! Now get started on building one, you can only plan something for so long.

19-02-2009, 18:12
@ Col. Wales: I could base the legs off sentinel ones actually. Hmm...might try that. Cheers!

@ Red: I would build now, but I have hit a series of setbacks.

I have a huge painting backlog
I have no plasticard :(
I got dumped with a massive play to learn today

I hate life :eyebrows:

And I'm glad they're on small bases, as I didn't want to scrounge some 60mm off someone :p

Thanks guys. I'll keep you updated :D

19-02-2009, 19:49
Out of Context...

The drawings and concepts seem sound. I'm toying with a killer kan building session of my own at some point, so interersted to see how you do

My name is Daniel and i am a wargamer

19-02-2009, 19:53
Cheers gonzo!

It seems the fate of my fellow Warseerers' projects lay in my hands now...

Anyone care to send me a box of plasticard so I can start building? :p

At least it's motivation to make them the biggest and best Kans ever.
Once I get some supplies, I will R'n'R all night long for these Kans :D

EDIT: Quick doodle based on Red's Kans to give an idea of size.

EDIT EDIT: Plans! More plans!

Red Skullz
19-02-2009, 22:25
Nice work on the consepts! How many are you making? Remember to buy magnets so you can swap between rokkit launchas and big shootas at least ;)

20-02-2009, 10:19
Damn, I forgot about magnets! :eyebrows:
I'll use a system of plastic tubes instead I think. I've narrowed down the weapns to either rokkit launchers or grotzookas, just because I lack anti-armour and template weapons in the army.
Oh, and 3 hopefully. Maybe another 3 if all goes well :D

21-02-2009, 14:50
Dang, it seems like ages since I posted actual models for you.
So here's the last of the deffkoptas for you all :)

...and all together!

Glad these guys are finished. Quite fun to paint as I never normally do bikes, etc.
Also, expect the Kans to actually take shape soon-ish (in the coming month or so), as I finally found somewhere that I can get plasticard from that isn't 45 minutes away.
I don't think they'll be anymore updates until next weekend sadly, but we'll see.
Keep on reading :D

25-02-2009, 11:57
Oh hi guys. I gotta little treat for y'all...hur hur hur.

Plasticard! :D
Today could be the best day of my life. Not only did I get my supplies, but I also got Jimmy Eat World DLC for Rock band! Yay!

So, instead of catching up on Biology today, I will be starting the Kans. I'll be building them all together, first the bodies, then the legs, then the arms, then the engines and the detail. So this is your last chance to give me any advice or your ideas :)
I'll be back soon :skull:

25-02-2009, 17:27
Guess who's back with a brand new Kan?
Only me :D
So I got cracking with the Kan, and I did this:

Which then evolved into this:

And now I'm stuck with this:

I'm not liking his toes. They seem to...flimsy. I don't if they just need bulking up a little bit with another layer of plasticard, or they need re-doing completely.

Now the positives.
The main body was easy as pie to build, with only a few cock-ups. I'm really pleased it actually looks like my sketches.
So, what I need help with is the toes, and just general comments, etc on the kind of skeletal Kan.

Saul Tarvitz
25-02-2009, 23:34
Its looking good mate, guessing it took a wee while to get done as its the first one you've gotten onto?

For the toes how about another smaller plate on top of the bits you've already got there, perhaps with some pistons connecting them to his ankles?

26-02-2009, 18:03
Cheers Tarvtiz!
Well I had a play around with them last night, and I just added a second layer of plasticard to bulk them out, and they are fine now.
Weeeell, it took me about 2/3 hours to do all that, so not too bad. I work in a typical 'Orky' way so there's no precise measurements to waste time :p

Just lots of hacking :D

Red Skullz
26-02-2009, 18:24
Looks good so far OOC :) Just remember to be patient and take your time, don`t be afraid to throw stuff in the bin either...you`ll defo to the odd mistake here and there (that even a mek can`t "fix") ;)

26-02-2009, 18:32
Thanks a lot Red :)
I've already got a spare robo-leg now due to a cock-up when measuring :p
I'll try and edit some pics of the new foot into this post, so keep your eyes open.
Work will continue on the Kan on Saturday. My optimistic aim is to finish the body over the weekend, but we'll see :D

EDIT: Here be pictures of my leg (check the detail on the bottom)

Need to do some filing on the sides...
Also, don't expect any more updates until Saturday. Don't cry :(

Saul Tarvitz
26-02-2009, 19:22
*Bottom lip quivers...* Saturday? :cries:

That leg looks more 'real' with those extra bits added to it, I really like the tread plate you've given it.

Have you much experience with plasticard before building these guys at all? Just with starting my own Ork army it seems to be the prefect place to cut my teeth on the stuff, if you'll excuse the pun.

26-02-2009, 19:47
*Bottom lip quivers...* Saturday? :cries:

Hurrah, I'm popular!
I'm just saving up updates from now on, as it makes my log look lonely with me multi-posting :p

Well, in chronological order, here is my experiments with plasticard:

The little teeth on the back of the battlewagon
The looted wagon
The Kans!

So, I didn't really take baby steps :chrome:
I put up a guide to Orky building earlier in the thread if you haven't seen Tarvitz :)

Saul Tarvitz
26-02-2009, 20:24
I might've done, but I must confess to being one of these people who skims over things that aren't pictures of toy soldiers, then goes back and reads the words and other things.

I'll go look at it now. :D

26-02-2009, 20:43
Find me someone on Warseer who doesn't do that :p

Saul Tarvitz
26-02-2009, 21:46
That sounds like a challenge, though to be honest I think all forums are the same.

I like how much of an ambitious leap you took with your plasticarding going almost straight to the Kans. Its made me a lot more confident about trying out using it myself.

27-02-2009, 17:49
Then my job here is done :D

Rightio guy. Plan for tomorrow is as follows;

Paint some grotz
Play about with the Kans

I ripped of the piston on the leg last night as I didn't like it, but I'm gonna put it at the back of the leg instead. I'm going to London for 3 days next week so progress will be even slower than a slug that is travelling over rough terrain while being pulled backwards by another slug.
Until then, fare thee well :)

27-02-2009, 18:36
What kind of slug?

27-02-2009, 18:47
An extremely slow one.
Not the rocket powered 'sonic slug' from the Welsh highlands. Oh no, not one of them.

27-02-2009, 19:16
The only thing I would do is add a lot of extra bits from various kits to it. This will help your kan look like it belongs rather than being completely scratch made. You want to blend the two to make an awesome looking kan. I would recomend getting a Truck or even better a battlewagon. There are soooo many extra gubbins on there that they will really help flesh out the kan. Nice so far though!

27-02-2009, 19:19
good work dude.... suprised to see new things...

oh, if you want, i've got some guides with sizes to making 'hexagon' stompas, the ones like GW's....

27-02-2009, 19:45
@ JCOLL: Well I've got a shoebox full of bitz so that shouldn't be a problem :p
But I know what you're saying. Don't worry, they will be divine when they are done :D

@ G. Hawke: Long time no speak dude, and cheers!
I'll have to have a flick through those stompa guides. But all I'm saying is there will be something big and smashy coming around July time :chrome:

Hur hur...

28-02-2009, 15:16
Hello there ladies and gentlemen, hello there ladies and gents, are you ready to log? Are you ready to log?

Ahem. Sorry.
Look what I have for you guys! A finished leg!

All done. I rearranged the piston, added some length to it and riveted in all up. 100% finished leg.
I've also built up the back, which just needs detailing.

I've also done the hatch on the top, to drop food down for the Grot inside I assume

Just needs rivets.
The Kan is coming along nicely. Gonna start on the front now and build up the face. Then if I get time/can be bothered, I'll start on the other leg, or detail the body.
Adios! :D

Red Skullz
28-02-2009, 15:20
That`s looking great so far mate!

I would vary the size of the rivets a bit more though, I prefer smaller ones as I think they paint up better but that`s probably just me :)

28-02-2009, 15:46
Don't worry Red, varying rivets will be there :)

I just like the look of how the legs are like scrap metal beams hammered together with big rivets. The body will have lots of smaller rivets as will the arms.

I've been playing with the 'face' of the Kan, and I've got some teeth in place. I'm about to start on the eyes so there'll be another update later.

28-02-2009, 17:08
looking good ooc, though one minor thing. i meant kans, and stompas! sorry, its one of those things, i've got stompas on the brain you see....

keep it up!

28-02-2009, 17:36
Kan plans as well you say? This idea intrigues me. Hit me up with an email Hawke :D

So, been busy detailing since the last update. If I ever have to use the rivet sheet I bought again, I will go mental.
The face (pre and post rivets)

Back and hatch

You can still see wet glue on some of these pics...
Anyway, I'm losing the will to live doing rivets, so later I might put a big grill thing on the engine box thing. Or maybe I won't. Who knows? I don't.

Comments and malunky (lolwut?) if you will :)

28-02-2009, 18:40
Looks ace. Does kinda look like a stompa head though (in a good way).
If you but big shoes on them it could be an evil Mr man...

28-02-2009, 19:04
Thanks a lot donuter. If you have a glance through my sketches a couple of pages back, then you'll see big shoes are on the list :D

Right, tiny update for you. Should be the last update from me until next week. Unless I do a bit tomorrow (unlikely) or next week (not a chance).

As you can see, I've stuck the leg on as I was sick of it cluttering my table. I've also done some detail on the engine block thing by adding some wires and worky bits.
I'm really pleased with my progress today. Didn't achieve my super-optimistic goal of finishing the Kan, but oh well. All that's left to do on this guy now is rivets, the right leg and the arms.
I'm royally annoyed I'll not get a chance to visit Covent Garden while I'm in London. Their store is one of my personal favourites, but I'm not too keen on revealing the extreme of my nerdiness to my fellow college mates.

Until next time...:)

01-03-2009, 18:13
Private Jones peered over the top of the trench. He'd seen some crazy stuff recently. Heck, only yesterday he'd had to make the Sergeant some Creme de la Vogel. Whatever that was.
But these Orks just took the biscuit, ate it, then crapped it out on his face. The grey skin was weird enough, but as he looked out over the muddy field beyong him, he was sure glad there was a torso between his legs and head, something the greyskins obvioulsy didn't appreciate.

STOMP STOMP! :chrome:
I got the second leg on! Woo! Now, the beast can walk.
Though you'd like to see it, as it's actually a proper update not 'I put some rivets on this thing, let me show you them'.

So this'll be the last update until next Saturday, as I keep saying (I'm trying to drum up some 'Noo! OOC we love you!' replies).
Enjoy! :D

Red Skullz
01-03-2009, 18:24
That`s looking really good mate! Just needs a tad more rivets :D

01-03-2009, 18:34
You and your bloody rivets Red! :p
Yeah the sides are lacking in rivets I will admit. I'm waiting till the arms are in position until I rivet the rest of the skull. The legs will get some wires probably at a later date.
Also, the gap on the exhaust where it meets the engine has just been filled.

02-03-2009, 17:56
Here be an update.
Finished the claw arm today. Just needs tidying up (like that massive rivet on the piston). Note, I've used lots of different rivets to keep Red happy :p

You can see some side detail on the second pic. The idea is that it goes up or down on the frame, then back and forth by rotating the square plate (in case you were confused.
I'll stick it on the Kan at a later date, as the arm needs GSing and the skull needs rivets.
Anyway, enjoy! :D

How's that?

This is looking awesome mate, meant to comment before now but got distracted by my girlfriend coming home from Edinburgh.

Now that they've been given form the Kans look alot better, I suppose its alot easier to convey depth with models than it is with pencils.

I've noticed you've just updated halfway through me writing this so I must say, that Klaw is looking rather sexy. Do you intend on making them all the same or is each Kan going to get a different flavour hitty weapon?

Boo's and hisses will accompany an incorrect answer my friend. :D

Tarvitz you are quickly becoming my favourite poster :p
So many questions...
First of all, yay for people missing me. It is much appreciated.
Second, hurrah for Edinburgh chicks. Minus my sister of course. I'm not a hick.
I am mighty pleased with the Kan and it is easily my best modelling accomplishment ever :D
And of course there will be lots of hitty weapons...

02-03-2009, 18:21
Tarvitz you are quickly becoming my favourite poster :p
So what am i? pingu?

Ah well, anyways mate, i am very tempted to tell you where to put the kan, because its good. Far to good. If i were to give advice i would suggest you... bin it and use a paint pot! then i'd look far cooler....

Well, go on then, more pictures, moer mORZAEAR!

02-03-2009, 18:25

Well, if you want a list...

Red for helping me with Rivets
Feral's legs

I can quickly see Feral's legs becoming our personal meme...

Anyway, in a little while I will be going to GS the arm, then I will be posting a little FAQ I found about 40k fans.

And maybe some sexy pics of the Kan for Hawke :p

Edinburgh girls are indeed the bestest, though I kinda have to say that. They are though, even without the contractual obligation to say so.

For weapons you've got the obligatory buzzsaw, and slicey klaw (which you've already got) and the ball and chain. I reckon you should get some more amusing things in there, like squigs on sticks, pointy sticks and snot-chuks. Like nun-chuks, or however you spell it, but with snotlings at either end of the chain as opposed to lumps off wood.

02-03-2009, 18:58
Nun-chucks do sound awesome Tarvitz. Only time will tell what I can create.
Also, Hawke, shush :p

Now, here's what I wanted to show you!

Getting to know a Warhammer fan

1. How long have you been a Warhammer fan?
Since LOTR:TFOTR. So...8 years.

2. What is your earliest memory of Warhammer?
Going to GW Meadowhall to get my first models and a starter kit with my mum :D

3. Who is your fav Warhammer character of all and why?
Ermm...I don't really have one. I'll say...Old Zogowrt. As he is full of snakes.

4. What is your most favourite and prized Warhammer possession and why?
The GD07 Orc Warboss. Love this guy.

5. Where in the world do you come from?
Chesterfield, East Midlands, England. We suck at everything.

6. Outside of Warhammer what else do you do with your life?
I am a really massive Star Wars fan, and I have a couple of dozen figures sat with my Warhammer stuff.

7. What is the origin of your screen name?
It sounded cooler than my own name.

8. Apart from your own log, whos logs do you enjoy viewing?
All the rad Ork logs floating around at the moment, especially Hawke's and Red's just because I like those guys. But I check out the rest from time to time (I just didn't want to play favourites :( )

9. If you could be any Warhammer character, what would it be?
Calgar, because he is the Chuck Norris of WH40k.

Hope you enjoyed that :)

02-03-2009, 19:19

Ive done your get to know thing on mine!

My name is Daniel and i am a wargamer

02-03-2009, 19:22
You're kidding me?
And I thought I was being original

Back to the drawing board...

Also, the claw is done now. But no pics.
Because I'm going to let the suspense mount :D

MASSIVE EDIT: It seems I completely misunderstood Gonzo. I am an idiot.
PS go check his Q&A out. It's better than mine.

06-03-2009, 15:11
I'm back!
With a big stompy update!

With rokkit launcha!

He is complete!

Just gotta base him, paint him and glue the launcha on. Decided against making interchangable weapons mainly because I don't game (at all now sadly) and it would take too much effort.

I'll update you all with a run-down of my trip to London (if you care) and a plan for tomorrow later.

C&C please!

Saul Tarvitz
07-03-2009, 04:33
Lies! Lies and subterfuge, there is no completion here! The modelling part is complete, but the whole thing isn't, not until the paint is on them. Says he who hasn't painted in a year or so...

Its looking ace mate, I can't wait to see it with some colour slapped on it. Needs moar rivets though. :P Can't have enough rivets on an Ork vehicle.

Hearing about London should be interesting, has been a while since I was down that way.

Bring On The Trumpets!

07-03-2009, 09:38
i'm with saul. i need paint....

07-03-2009, 10:32
More rivets? But...but...:cries:

There will be no more rivets of this Kan! I am sick to death of rivets! With they're fiddly non-sticky won't stick where you want them get stuck to your face and fingers and to babies bits!

No more rivets.

Now I don't know what to paint today...
I need to do some grots as I'm getting behind with the infrantry. I will have to think on this and write up a plan.

So, let's talk about OOC's brilliant London trip.

I discovered this while I was there (they explain everything):

I have no balance at all on wet surfaces and have earnt the nickname 'Slippy' because of it
Sushi is divine
My hand is attracted to people's thighs during plays
I am a master at pictionary
Vodka and coke taste even better when it's been hidden under a hotel bed for a day
I am the best prankster in college. Fact. (details if interested, as I'm laughing just thinking about it)

Righto guys, today I will be painting. Either grotz, the Kan or the wagon.
Expect pics later on this afternoon.
I'm seeing Watchmen tonight!

That is all :)

PS Tarvitz, I've had enough of bringing on the trumpets. One lass I know refuses to stop saying it :eyebrows:

07-03-2009, 11:12

i was with you right up to baby bits.. which i editted out of my mind. it makes me happier that way.

I'm seeing Watchmen tonight!

That is all :)

shush. i want to see that movie, but it is an unfortunate fact that i live in two towns, both towns are, at best.... a tad remote. no, what i mean to say is that both have one cinema and the chances of me seeing the movie before april are slim as such...

that is all

07-03-2009, 11:20
To be honest Hawke, it's not the weirdest thing I've said :p

Yeah, me and my dad are going to see Watchmen tonight. I only have one nerdy friend and I want to make him jealous, so me and my dad are going
I'm cruel like that.

I'm still mighty shocked it's an 18. The book was never that bad. So, a tad bit of fibbing might be involved. But judging by the people who visit my local cinemas, it won't be a problem.

On hobby news, I'm painting the wagon today, as everyone seems to have forgotten I ever did it. Looking back, it's quite astounding how much I've improved at scratch-building since I did it little over a month ago.
Go me! :D

Saul Tarvitz
07-03-2009, 11:27
How's the Wagon coming along then?

Nodnol sounds like fun, were you down there with your college then? Were Geek Shops a-visited or do your college mates think you're a normal person?

I was beginning to think I was the only geek that hadn't seen Watchmen so far, but I'm glad to see I'm not alone. I'm supposed to be going to see Slumdog Millionaire tomorrow then Watchmen on Wednesday. Gotta love Orange Wednesdays. :D

07-03-2009, 11:40
Nodnol sounds like fun,

instant credit there for refrencing the dwarf.

07-03-2009, 11:42
Wagon's not started yet sadly. After I've had a nice baguette I will begin. So about 1 o'clock.

Nah, most of my college friends think I'm normal. 2 lads know I'm a nerdy young man (these 2 guys made their deck boxes more of a priority than underwear in London).
I was kinda bummed I hadn't discovered a Warhammer nerd in my group by the time we went, so me and him (or if I was really lucky, her) could go to Cov. Gard. GW. I had to settle for a passing glance at the windows as me and my normal friends walked past it :(

I forgot I was going to mention my childish jokes me and Phal (long story about his nickname) played on a couple of lasses we knew while they were in the shower.
This one girl was complaining about how she'd destroy the bed in her sleep no matter how neatly the cleaner-lady made it. So while she was in the shower, me and Phal stripped the bed, took off the mattress, left it against the bathroom door, then remade the bed complete with pillow man but minus mattress. Then we hid in the wardrobe and giggled away as she came out and said 'What. The. Hell has happened in here?'. :D
Then we locked the girl she was sharing the room with in the bathroom using an elaborate chair/remote/matress device.
I love being young.

I was gonna go on Wednesday with my previously mentioned nerdy friend, but I couldn't wait that long :p

Expect updates later on. Maybe some PIPs of the Wagon.
Adios! :)

EDIT: Agreed with Hawke's ninja post. +1 OOC points to Tarvitz.

07-03-2009, 16:57
So it's been a long time since I post painted pics up, so here it is! The looted wagon!

Pretty happy with this tank. For some reason some of the metal chips look like Codex Grey on the photoes. Weird.

Thing's I've learnt whilst painting:

I'm never gonna hear the end of this, but it needed more smaller rivets. The Kan doesn't suffer from this thank Gork
The transport compartment was a bit flat and could have done with some textured plasticard (which I have now)
I go through black wash way to quickly.

So no more painting for a while as I need some more black wash. No local shops + me refusing to pay a stupid amount of postage for a pot of paint = no painting for a couple of weeks.
This is good for you as it means I can instead focus on building the next Kan, and it's good for me as I can focus of playing DOW2 when it comes.

Comments please for my less-popular-than-my-building painting :)

If you have a craft store near you that sells water based acrylic paints that will do as the basis for a simple black wash. (Paint + water = Wash)

07-03-2009, 18:11
I had to use Chaos Black + water for the tracks. But it doesn't have the same grimy feel that the official wash has.

I'll get by.

07-03-2009, 19:17
try adding a touch of white glue. (it helps break the surface tension of the diluted paint)

09-03-2009, 10:29
Nice and Orky, liking the Kan and Wagon :D
Has it really been eight years since LOTR:TFOTR came out on film?

09-03-2009, 10:54
More rivets? But...but...:cries:

There will be no more rivets of this Kan! I am sick to death of rivets! With they're fiddly non-sticky won't stick where you want them get stuck to your face and fingers and to babies bits!

No more rivets.

I call them Ork Measles. It's just not Orky without inappropriate amounts of them everywhere.
Get yourself a 1/16 inch hole punch and a glue bottle with one of those long metal tubes for a spout.
It will speed things up and they will go were you want them to go....well most of the time.
This week I did find one in my sock and another one in my spaghetti.
I hope the two incidents are not related in some way.

09-03-2009, 14:53
Welcome newcomers! :D
Collect a panthlet and reception, then follow me for cakes!

@Col. Wales: I'll try that, thanks!

@ Chris_Lancaster: Thanks a lot!
Aye, that it has. Winter 2001. So it'll be my 8th anniversary January next year. Man, I feel old.

@ Tommygun: That's funny. I know quite a few people who look like Orks who have measel like growths on their face. I guess we have different approaches to thing :p
I've been looking for a whole punch the right size, but thing's aren't going too swell. I might have to probe in the deeper and darker places of Chesterfield.

Anyway, thanks a lot guys.
Plans for this week are undecided. I might make a start on the second Killa Kan soonish. I'll do some sketches later.
Nothing will be achieved tonight as I'm having a lady friend over, so I will spend all night playing Rock Band with her (no, that's not a euthemism).
DOW2 should come tomorrow so there'll be no modelling until Saturday probably.

Till next time :)

09-03-2009, 15:17
Blimey...time does fly!
Enjoy your time with the lady friend :)

09-03-2009, 15:52
Cheers Chris. She's not that kind of lady friend though :p
There's a funny story about the last time I was in a bed with her, which is for my mind only.

To stay in Warhammer land, here's a sketch of the next Kan. It's a track-kan, who will have a circular saw as well as a missile launcha in a similar style to the SM Dreadnought one. I'm planning on giving him 2 exhausts at the back, and making a big boxy engine that, instead of the smaller one I gave the first Kan.
Note the measurements on there which should give you an idea of size. I've also included a size comparison with a boy and my first Kan (there's a nasty mouldline on the barrel of the boy's slugga too )

In other news, I've got a massive burn (floor burn that is) on my arm all the way down the side and a massive ache in my ass-bone (cochix? I don't have time to find out what it's called, and ass-bone sounds funnier (even though cochix has the c-word in (not the naughty naughty one, the less naughty one))). Not good.

Anyway, comments on the new Kan please. Ideas are more than welcome. I have modellor's block with this guy.

10-03-2009, 22:37
I don't even want to know what you've been up to to bruise your ****, but I'm sure it wasn't pretty.

I think with the tracked Kan it might serve to lift the body of the Kan up off the tracks a little, either giving it something to pivot on or simply just raising the profile of the miniature.

The current one is looking damn cool, though is severely lacking in the paint region! Paint dammit! :D

Col. Wales
11-03-2009, 01:00
sounds like a slip fall on stairs to me. Nice Kans so far man. as far as a missle launcha goes ask if any of your mates have a spare Havok launcher.

11-03-2009, 12:38
I suppose I should explain my bruised **** :p
I slipped on some marble tiles in London last week, and everyday since this Monday, I've banged my ****-bone at least 3 times a day. So I find it hard sitting down on hard chairs :eyebrows:
Anyway, in other OOC news, the visit from the ladyfriend went...questionably well. Also, DOW2 came today :D Installing that later.

In hobby news:
@Tarvtiz: I was thinking about raising it up on a pivot, so it was almost like a turret on tracks if you see what I mean. The first Kan will get painted when I have all the others complete sadly. Otherwise I'll not get the rest of the army painted at all.

@Wales: I'm kickingm myself for not thinking of the Havoc launcher. I've got 4 of them floating around in my room. Thanks for reminding me Col! :)

Thanks a lot guys!

11-03-2009, 13:21
Fell over in London... Lady friend...

come on dish the dirt... why does your **** really hurt lol... :)

no seriously... im sorry you got a bad ass... its a pain with stuff like that... a few years ago i hurt myself in a similar way, and it was a right pain...

Re girly stuff... whats the gossip... how old, how did you meet... and most improtantly of all........

Have you told her you play with toy solidiers???

Cant wait to see some updates

My name is Daniel and i am a wargamer

11-03-2009, 13:51
I'm glad you care Gonzo :p

I've known her for 4 years ish now. She's seen my massive cabinet of toy soldiers so I assume she knows. Or pays no attention to detail.
There was no hanky panky either. Well not a whole lot

Enough! Stay out of my social life!

Right, I'll play around with some sketches today, see how big the havoc launcher is, etc.
Just installed DOW2 and did the first mission. OOC approves :D

Yeah, I'll try do some actual hobby-realted stuff today. After I think of an appropriate excuse as to why I 'missed' by Biology lecture yesterday and do a bleeding theatre review.

I hate responsibility.

Dude the ass bit sucks. I managed to crack my tailbone a few years ago as I am a remarkably uncoordinated fellow.

12-03-2009, 19:04
I'm glad I only came away with a sore butt.
I was paranoid that I'd broken it on Monday, but it's getting better now.
I didn't want to have to carry around an inflatable cushion to sit on :eyebrows:

12-03-2009, 20:26
that'd be intresting, youd be the first member of warseer i've known to suffer from a broken ****....

anways, kan looks good, but i want more. the eye of hawke is every hungry.

12-03-2009, 20:42
Awesome :D
I got my comfort for my sore bottom from my lady-friend so I'm not complaining :p

Anyway, on the Kan front:
Cheers Hawke! I need to get started on the second Kan, which should happen this Saturday. Then I need to make previously mentioned lady-friend a birthday present out of plasticard. I'm too poor to buy her a real present, so she get's plasticard.
I hate being popular :eyebrows:

12-03-2009, 21:40
I hate being popular :eyebrows:

i suppose me pointing out that that comment is like 'i hate water. its dry!' would be a tad obvious....

i want more kANaZOR! i'll be damned if you're not going to be building your own stompa by the end of the year, even if i have to beat you with a 2lb lump of frenchman!

12-03-2009, 21:47
I didn't understand any of that Hawke :p

Yes, yes I do. I like crossdressing hulks, and I wish to incorporate several into the army.

It was the inflatable cushion reference that gave it away.

Hobby question...hobby question...Ooh, where do you get your plasticard from?

12-03-2009, 22:59

I can honestly say, ive never clicked to read for updates on someones blog, and read half a page about **** problems before!!! lol....

OOC.... im pleased to hear lady things are going well... Mines abandoned me to go uot with her girly mates tonight, so lots of painting and warseer on the go...

I also invested in th stompa... although... im not sure about dress and gun comment... i thought that was Dark Angels???

You should also save up for a orky stormlord (or which ever one has the megabolter on it)

Lots of shooty... transports 40... sounds like an orky dream!

13-03-2009, 19:11
Thank the maker!

@ Tarvitz: I don't have piles :p
**** pain of the bone, not the actual anus.

My plasticard is from Antenociti's workshop ;)

@ Gonzo: Me and Hawke agreed last night we wished to fill in the comedy/surreal void in M,P&T whilst providing hobby updates :D

I only see my lady-friend every 6 weeks so I make the most of her while I see her. Tuesday went a bit too well if you know what I mean.
Why am I telling you all this? :p

Dark Angels are young transvestites who wish to make the point of how different they are, whilst stompas are more like a crossdressing stag night.
I am considering a stormlord actually...hmmm...

I'm also very pleased to see the tight-knit community in my log as well :D
Well done guys!

Tomorrow, I start the track-kan. So update then, unless me and Hawke start a slanging match again :D

So much text in the last posts and no pics, me `ead `urts...

Very nice kan btw ;) Only thing I can think of that would improve it are more rivets lol!

13-03-2009, 19:32
There's plenty of hilarity though Red :p

And you and your bloody rivets! I will make a rivet monster one day, just for you.

13-03-2009, 19:36

13-03-2009, 19:46
Sounds nice ;) lol

My tip regarding rivets is doing it as you go along, finished with one section, rivet it and move on to the the next section.

13-03-2009, 19:47
I want to hear them :(

There was no procreation Hawke, just fun times between friends. Very fun times...

Enough! I end this talk now. Only hobby stuff now.
So seeing as the basic skeleton is decided upon for trak-kan, does anyone want to put forward any ideas for details/choppy arm?

14-03-2009, 14:23
I love the grey orks! Better than the green ones I think. Nice and original.
The battle wagon is a great conversion too, I like the large troop compartment in the rear.

Col. Wales
14-03-2009, 15:56
Da Choppy arm? hmm hows about a combo Buzz saw/Grinder. Kinda like the FW Dread CC siege drill arm bit.

14-03-2009, 16:22
@ thoughfoxx: Thanks a lot :D
I think you mean the looted wagon, but regardless, your praise is appreciated.

@ Col. Wales: That is an excellent idea. I was thinking of doing simplistic CCWs on the kans, then more complex ones of bigger stompy things, eg a dread. I might do a buzz saw, as I like the image of the second stompa rolling into a group of enemies, then spinning around on the pivot, eviscerating them all :chrome:

Oh yeah, I have pics:

Not much to show, I just wanted to prove I'm doing something :p
The basic shape is all done, and you can see I've started the second render (see what I did there Hawke?). Just need to GS some gaps and I'll move on to planning the traks.

Thanks for looking

14-03-2009, 18:23
(pssst, renderings a paint thing. however, i cannot thing of a better modelling term, so you get away without a lyncing.)

good work there ooc. so your thinkin' trakk's. da boyz woul' be proud, but seem bit of a grot tank ta me.

14-03-2009, 18:54
Yay for literacy!

If you've ever heard of the Kabal Project in the Horus Heresy, you'll see what I'm aiming for, albeit a smaller, Orky version.
Anyway, here's some more pics:

This new boxy thing will be attached to the trak unit things when I do them. I guess it's the equivalent of an engine housing that powers the traks, but I don't know. As you can see I'm continuing the skeletal grin theme, except this guy looks more like a Hawaiian tiki-tiki man (a term I just made up).

Enjoy! :D

14-03-2009, 19:07
i was about to say, you're making a crash bandicoot kan....

15-03-2009, 16:48
No, these Kans aren't half as annoying Hawke :p

As you can see, I've completely redesigned the trakks from the original sketches. The original design just looked dumb in practice. So now he has biker style trakks instead. At the front I'll add a mini-deffrolla. The last pic makes the trakks looks tiny, but in real life they are fine. Perspective and all that. Also added an exhaust to the back of the Kan.
Anyway, C&C like normal :)

15-03-2009, 16:50
No, these Kans aren't half as annoying Hawke :p

well, when you're as good at this as me, nothing except maybe three old priests in a half broken ford fiesta on a motor way, who dont want to rush.

looking good there ooc, nice progression. keep it up!

15-03-2009, 16:52
I'm happy you express your mindless ramblings in my log Hawke, but maybe a sane person could add a translation at the bottom :p

But cheers mate! :D

Saul Tarvitz
15-03-2009, 17:30
Looking cool mate, I like how the lower half looks like a mini tank. Very nice.

Any ideas as to how the paint scheme is going to be going yet? Any flavours in mind?

Anyway enough words, get on with it!

15-03-2009, 17:36
Cheers Tarvitz! :D

I've been pondering about the paint scheme too.
It'll probably be the same black/dark grey as the other vehicles plus the trademark red bits. The front of them (ie the skull bit) might be painted in white, with lots of rust marks and chipping. I'll try for more of a murky white rather than the usual brown/white you can see on the other painted pics.
Only time will tell...

On the actual Kan itself, I've just been filling in the gaps on the trakk unit. Easy enough. Just waiting for it to dry now, then I'll start looking at the deff-rolla.
However, I've hit a speedbump.
I'm not sure what to use as the basis (ie the tube bit) for the rolla. My biggest plastic piping is a wee bit small and the closest thing I can find to a decent size in my bitz box is the barrel of battlecannon from a Leman Russ.
Any ideas?

Red Skullz
15-03-2009, 18:22
That looks cool! Can`t wait for the end result (riveted all over) :)

15-03-2009, 20:46
Thanks a lot Red :D

Right guys, I'd like to stress my previous point about help with the deffrolla, because to be honest...

I've just spent an hour playing about with my biggest plastic tubing and to be frank, it looks retarded. Not just bad, but completely and utterly poo (for politeness).

Please help :cries:

15-03-2009, 21:18
have you seen the deff rolla on the ork stompa's in white dwarf? retarded is the way forwards....

post pics of it mocked up, then i might be able to help you

15-03-2009, 21:31
Oh, you mean toilet rolla holda?

Well even though advice is was late and sparse, I have found a possible solution.
Whilst I was digging about in my bitz box, I found some IG tank track wheely bits (the wheels you put the tracks on, I don't know what they're called). If I file down 3 of them, and stick them together, then I get a decent mini-deff rolla. Stick some plasticard on either side to hold it in place, and presto!
I'll try and get some pics up tomorrow, but don't be hopeful. I have a seminar in Nottingham until 7pm (lolwut 4 hours!) and then there's the universal risk of me dropping dead at any moment.
The tension builds!

15-03-2009, 21:35
and then there's the universal risk of me dropping dead at any moment.
The tension builds!

you're aware there is about the same chance of that happening as me making a quality post with good advice, completely sane wording without a joke arn't you*?

Sorry Saul. You can add your name in as well.

No actual Orky pics tonight, as I just cannot be bothered. Instead, here's some Bob Dylan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgECKj9LSH4).

In an attempt to drag this back into the realms of sanity and hobbyness, have you sorted out your Micromachine Deff Rolla yet? If not how about using a pen, either biro or marker. The ones banks give away free could work quite well, the rounder ones that is. Failing that I'm sure you've plenty pens that you could use.

Anyway, where are our updates, where is OOC hiding? I remember some nonsense about being in Snottingham for something, but that's no excuse.

That depends whether he stopped by Warhammer World while he was there!

That depends whether he stopped by Warhammer World while he was there!

That is true, though only if he did it to pick up some Forgeworld stuff and not have to wait forever to get it.

16-03-2009, 22:30
What would Our Orange County get at forgeworld? He used to make his own stuff out of plasticard but then we broke his blog...

16-03-2009, 22:40
Behold, I return!

I love you guys :p

I'm glad that spam filled hilarity continued even when I wasn't here.

@ all of you: You are the greatest anominous friends a guy could wish for and I say we all hug now.

I don't know where to start to be honest...

Something about holocaust survivors and deff-rollas and stuff.

Ask me tomorrow when I can remember where I am :D

16-03-2009, 22:42

16-03-2009, 22:46
*hugs* :)

16-03-2009, 22:48
Cheers Hawke (EDIT: and chris ;) )
I think.

So now I can remember everything, here's what I've been doing since last night.
Today, I spent 4 hours listening to some crap about the Holocaust I already knew and I was generally annoyed as I could've spent the time messing about on here. Oh well.
But what's even greater is I get to do it all over again tomorrow.

Tarvitz is right. I did go to Nottingham today, but I didn't have time to go to GW (and I only had a fiver :()

Tomorrow/Wednesday, I will post pics of whatever I do in the time between now and then.

That is all

PS the last few posts made me pee with laughter.

EDIT EDIT: I think it's time the OOC log crew had a booze up. We begin collecting locations now :D

16-03-2009, 22:51
PS the last few posts made me pee with laughter.

well this is a five changes of underwear log, so not a suprise.

16-03-2009, 22:53
I'm gonna EDIT: ya face if you don't learn to put everything down the first tme again. Why the holocoust, Our Orange County?

EDIT: Why a fiver? you can't by Gav Thorp learning support for that.

16-03-2009, 22:54
My lady-friend bought me some underwear for my birthday once. It was weird.

Also, I like how my log has become the Mos Eisley cantina for Warseer's unwanted. Come to me children!

Oh yeah, I forgot to thank Tarvitz for the pen idea. Cheers! :D

Also, please welcome chris_lancaster to our ranks.

One of us! One of us!

EDIT for ninja donuter: I edited your mom last night :P

Holocaust survivors:
I'm going to Auschwitz next week with college and it was part of the preparation to listen to them droan on about some stuff that I should've cared about, but didn't.
I care like that.

i thought OOC stood for Our Obese Camel....

anyways, you'll probably care alot more when you get there. i've heard it has a powerful effect on people,

16-03-2009, 23:13
Yay! (I think) :cheese:

Saul Tarvitz
17-03-2009, 01:09
What course are you taking that means you go to Auschwitz? I'm guessing either History or something made up like Sociology. :p

I'm sure you could have gotten some work done tonight on the Kans, if the seminar was four hours long that'd've been a good few hours work on them, after all its easy enough to hide in lectures.

I thought OOC was for Only Orange Chocolates. :D

17-03-2009, 11:26
So its not Orgasms Over Chris_Lancaster then? oh.......

Hope you have fun in aushwitz (well not fun... but oyu know what i mean...)

My name is Daniel and i am a wargamer

17-03-2009, 18:24
Are you visiting Dachau (sp) rather than just Aushwitz?

17-03-2009, 19:03
@ Hawke: Well judging by todays visit to the Holocaust Center in Newark and the...err...respect we payed there, I won't keep my hopes up. But it does mean I get out of boring Condition of England stuff next week :D

@ Tarvtiz: Well some silly indie project has offered Ches college 2 places to go on the trip, and I got one of those places
But yes I am taking History, and yes, sociology is completely fictitious.]

I wasn't going to bring all my tools and plasticard to a seminar in Nottingham Tarvitz :p
I'm not that nerdy.
Tomorrow is Kan day.

@ gonzo: Cheers (I think)! It's next Tuesday when I go, so I still have a week to make sure you lot keep this log alive for the day :D

@ donuter: No, it's just Auschwitz for us. I, II and III I think for anyone with knowledge of the place.

In general news, I may do some work on the Kans tonight to please you all (and to keep this log on topic to not attract attention from the Inquisition).
I think that's all I need to tell you.
See you later! :)

EDIT: Sorry donuter, but this is serial. Since when did this thread drop to 3 stars? Is it that bad? You guys, correct this mess.

17-03-2009, 21:02
i've voted you back on to four. something tells me people here don't like randomness.

17-03-2009, 21:06
It was probably donuter. He looks like the spiteful one :p

No work on the Kans tonight guys. A series of setbacks means I have no time to play :(

PS I love you really donuter.

17-03-2009, 23:09
To be honest who dosen't?

(Any one I love...)

Col. Wales

Holocaust survivors:
I'm going to Auschwitz next week with college and it was part of the preparation to listen to them droan on about some stuff that I should've cared about, but didn't.
I care like that.

At a guess the hit to rating was from folks who were ticked that you werent paying attention to the holocaust lecture.

Me I'm Jewish and yes it sucks but it was also almost a half century ago, and people still let crap like it happen in out of the way areas of the world. So personally I understand why you might not care. Especially if you haven't lost family to the blasted thing.

Anyhoo this is a good log and doesn't deserve namby pamby Liberals who can't stand someone not believing exactly what they do spam voting it down. So I'm giving it a high vote.

18-03-2009, 12:34
@ donuter: Good point :p

@ Col. Wales: Part of me does wish I had phrased my previous post about Holocaust survivors better.
As a history boy myself, I would never even think of being uncaring to anything of like that, especially when we're dealing with something so recent in historical terms and so horrific as the Holocaust.
I think a better way to put my previous post on Holocaust survivors was 'After a long day, I wasn't particuarly in the right state of mind to listen to things like that'.

But cheers Col. At least there's someone who sees where I'm coming from. :)

Okie dokie, plan for today guys.
Hopefully I can at least get the deff-rolla stuck on the Kan and maybe get some rivets on.
Also, all this talk of The War of the Ring has got me in a LotR mood, so you can expect some pics of the last LotR model I painted, nearly a year ago. There might also be some LotR stuff cropping up later on, but if it gets serious it will get it's own log.

Cheers everyone :)

EDIT: Here are previously mentioned pics.
Dalamyr, Fleet Master of Umbar.

This was my first proper attempt at painting white cloth, and I'm pretty darn pleased how it all turned out. I just did this as a painting exercise when he first came out (never been that impressed by LotR models until this guy).

Saul Tarvitz
18-03-2009, 17:34
That doesn't look much like a Killa Kan! For shame OOC, for shame! Monkey Jesus judges you.

If modelling in lectures is very nerdy I'm screwed, I've taken models to lectures I knew would be boring before now to clean up. To the lecturer it just looks like I'm writing notes and the people around me didn't exactly care. Bloody Enlightenment.

I'm Jewish enough to appreciate the magnitude of the Holocaust, though luckily my family legged it in 1935 apparently. I understand that its important to teach about it, but there does seem to be a morbid fascination with it in this country. Personally I'm not big into History past 1453.

So why don't we have Kan updates? College work can wait, Warseer logs cannot!

18-03-2009, 17:47
Oh, Tarvitz my friend, there are Kan updates. In fact, I've done some major work to it and overcome a big difficulty. In fact, it's sitting on my desk right now. But I'm not going to take pictures until later on :p
Just to annoy you.

I've never tried anything Warhammer related at college. No one even knows I'm a Warhammer nerd. The only thing I can remember to do with Warhammer I've said since I've been at college is when me and a nerdy friend were talking about custom dice.
'Yeah, I'd like some custom dice for Warhammer.'
'Really? *looks excited*'
'No...*cough*...I'm kidding. Heh...'

Look at my amazing lies :eyebrows:

I didn't have to do any college work today to distract me anyway :D
Well I should be doing it, but I didn't.

So yeah, updates later tonight :)
Just to annoy Tarvitz.

18-03-2009, 18:20
On the subject of Nerds I hav been officil noted as a Nazi nerd by my mates. (not a NAZI nerd but a nerd on nazis)
And girls love nerds (at least mine does)
On the update, I like the base but would like to know how you did it?

Saul Tarvitz
18-03-2009, 18:22

Monkey Jesus accuses you of heresy witch-boy!

See all my friends know about my geekyness, hell I worked for GW for a while so its not easy to hide, nor is the desk covered in toy soldiers and WFRP character sheets...I don't really know anyone on my course at Uni, but that's no biggie as I have friends outside of that.

I demands updates!

I might update my Epic log if you do.

18-03-2009, 18:52
@ donuter: People know me as a Star Wars and Transformers nerd in my drama group, but other than that, they think I'm normal in all my other lectures.
My lady-friend definately digs nerds. Heck, I've been trying to turn her into one for a while now. Turst me, hot chicks + plastic instruments = nerd heaven.
The base is just GW sand before priming, then bestial brown followed by a series of super light drybrushes of bleached bone. The sides are graveyard earth and the grass is in one of the GW basing kits (I think it's the OOP hero kit).

@ Tarvitz: Well I'm pretty posessive over my room so not many people come in who aren't family :p
I'm a open closet nerd.

PS I like the new sig :D

Now you have no excuse to update Tarvitz!
I'm still struggling in finding an angle to take photoes where the trakks don't look puny in comparison to the body, but oh well.
So now the deffrolla is done and dusted, and I've detailed the actual trakks as well as added some mini-exhausts. This new Kan's about half a centimeter shorter than the previous one, and a little wider.
I might do a tiny bit of riveting tonight, but nothing too big.

On a seperate note, if anyone has any tips on how to sculpt 10mm tall pandas then it would be really appreciated.

Cheers and enjoy!

Saul Tarvitz
18-03-2009, 19:16
Awh crap, I'm going to have to update my Epic log now. Bum. :p

See my flatmates quite often come in my room, as does my girlfriend and other mates when they come around. Having a bedroom the size of a large living room is fun. :D

Looking cool, I do love the Micro-Rolla, what did you make it from in the end? The exhausts look like they need to go inside the track unit, to be more like exhaust pipes. At the moment they just look like tubes sitting on the side on the tracks.

What are you planning on arming this one with? I think he'd be a candidate for a Grotzooka as it'd fit with the mini tank aestethic you've got going here.

18-03-2009, 19:32
My bed is the size of a small room so I don't complain :D
Lots of fun in that bed.

The deff-rolla is made from 3 IG tank wheels (the bits that the tank tracks sit on) and the whippy arm from a defiler (the pyramid pointy bits are cut from the ends).
The exhausts are nowhere near finished yet. I just stuck them on today to give me something to do. They'll probably get a little box at the end of them to merge them into the tracks better.
This guy will get a rokkit launcha, as will all of the Kans. I could never find a way I liked to make grotzookas, and the army does need more rokkits. I know what killy-arm he'll get, but it's a suprise :p
I've just done some more GS work to the trakk housings so now they're a bit smoother

Now go update your log Tarvtiz

18-03-2009, 19:36
thats a bit small....

18-03-2009, 19:39
Hawke, you know that quote of mine you have in your sig?
Read it.
Do it.

18-03-2009, 19:48
Hawke, you know that quote of mine you have in your sig?
Read it.
Do it.

sadly, telling me to do it makes me louder.

i think you're the first person to have made a killa kan that is, in effect, a giant metal house wife with rolling pin in a halloween mask.

18-03-2009, 19:54

*dreams of giant metal wife/sex-bot*

The horror!

You forgot the bit where the Kan passes exhaust fumes and says 'Ladies don't fart'.

They totally do :eyebrows:

Saul Tarvitz
18-03-2009, 19:55
You worry me boy, you really do. :p

I'm working on my update the now, just drilling some barrels then some basing to do. I hate drilling out gun barrels.

18-03-2009, 19:57
About damn time Tarvitz!

I hate drilling barrels too...all my drill bits get gunked up.
But it's still not as bad as making your own rivets

Also, is there a disorder where one can't get 'Since U Been Gone' out of one's head?

It's horrible! :cries:

Saul Tarvitz
18-03-2009, 20:00
Kelly Clarkson or Rainbow?

If its Rainbow, then fair enough, if its Kelly Clarkson then FOR SHAME OOC, FOR SHAME!

18-03-2009, 20:06
It's actually the 'A Day To Remember' cover, but it just morphs into Kelly Clarkson :cries:

I thought I could get rid of it by listening to Katy Perry (there's a manly reason it's on my computer, honest!), but now all I want to do is wear pink things with bows! :(

Saul Tarvitz
18-03-2009, 20:27
There is no manly reason to have Katy Perry on your computer. :p

Just uploading the pictures now and then I'll start writing the post, it takes so long to edit pictures now due to my USB setup. Grr!

18-03-2009, 20:36
I can at least believe there is...

It wouldn't suprise me now Tarvitz, that after all this trouble, you've not done anything with your Epic stuff at all :p

19-03-2009, 00:22
To sculpt a 10mm Panda just get gummy bears, no sculpting requierd. And if they complain, offer tham one. Girls and plastic don't mix well. They get all fidgity and wierd...

19-03-2009, 00:29
Girls and plastic don't mix well. .

clearly not one to look at modern culture and a paticular form of surgery.

19-03-2009, 00:33
They don't mix, they interact, and even then the bags burst and soliderfied hydrocarbons poke out and by the end of it all it just looks wrong.

Nice Granny kan by the way OOC

Madgear Thundaklutch
19-03-2009, 06:57
Grey makes your Orks look evil and scary, its so awesome

19-03-2009, 19:19
@ Hawke and donuter: Mmm...solidified hydrocarbons.
@ donuter: It's not a granny kan. I got stuck in a(nother) theatre today, and spent 2 hours sat next to some right old farts. It was horrific :cries:

Madgear: Cheers dude!

I don't think there's anything I need to notify you guys of. Maybe they'll be some work on the Kan tonight, but I won't have time to do anything major.

Thanks for looking :D

19-03-2009, 19:33
You always say you'll work on a kan tonight. But when they appear they are nice. Any chance of a group shot?

19-03-2009, 20:15
I do work on them most nights.
But sometimes the work involves just looking at them and thinking of ideas :p

For you donuter, anything.

Enjoy! :D

19-03-2009, 20:42
you've created your own unit of old people killa kans. who, steadily, but unshurly, creep across the battlefield groaning and aching, complaining about 'kans these days', in there eventual attempt to reach the pensions at the ork postoffice (Da Post Ofice.)

19-03-2009, 20:42
They look ace, really ace. its not a granny, but a lawn mower, Ork style. More rivits?

Col. Wales
19-03-2009, 21:03
God the old lady bits just make me think of the "bedpan" bit from John Cleese's "how to irritate people"

and as far as since youve been gone... The Weird Al version wins.

last line is
"Ever since that day you left me I've been so miserable,
my dear I feel almost as bad as I did, When you were still here"

19-03-2009, 21:08
@ Hawke: You also forgot how they stand over occupied seats on the Wagon and look at the occupying Ork like they killed their husband.

@ donuter: Who're you? Red?:p
Seriously, cheers!

@ Wales: Wales wins best reply for mentioning John Cleese, Wierd Al and 'Since U Been Gone' in one post.

So, as donuter predicted, I didn't do any work on the Kans tonight. Ironically I was playing the mission in DOW2 where you destroy a dread instead

Saturday will be the next major progress day as I'll start on the killy arm.

Cheers y'all! :D

Saul Tarvitz
19-03-2009, 21:41

Where are our updates?

What are you doing going to the theatre when you have modelling to do, I mean its bad enough your heading to Poland next week but not giving us updates is not kosher. Fobbing us off with comparison pictures. Tut!

There's still time to do some work tonight. I can help you with that, if you send me your copy of Dawn of War II and I'll dispose of it for you. :D

19-03-2009, 22:07
Your suggestion seems valid and -
Wait a second...

Nice try Tarvitz.
Do you realise that in the last 2 weeks I've been on 4 trips with college? That's why I'm not getting any modelling done. Because 5 days of hobby time have been wasted.

Wait, at least I reguarly update my log Tarvitz!

I think the only way to stop you all complaining is to post my...err...'other modelling' pics...
Yes, that would keep you quiet.

19-03-2009, 23:18
Your a model, or this the Pandas again?

Saul Tarvitz
19-03-2009, 23:25
I think he just takes pictures of himself on his mobile phone in the stock MySpace emo poses and considers himself a model. :p

You'll be pleased to know that I'm doing some rough greenstuffing and weapon configuration on my Warlord Titans young man, pictures tomorrow when I've tidied up the greenstuff on them. :skull:

20-03-2009, 19:08
I think he just takes pictures of himself on his mobile phone in the stock MySpace emo poses and considers himself a model. :p

Darn, you got me :D

Let's just say when people suggest charity events to do, I'm the first person to shout, 'Nude calender!'.

It's about time you did some proper work Tarvtiz. Glueing models doesn't count as work. :p

20-03-2009, 19:12
Let's just say when people suggest charity events to do, I'm the first person to shout, 'Nude calender!'.

only followed moments later by a cry of 'but thats against the rights of humans! torture is illegal!'

20-03-2009, 19:14
You say that like my hairy belly and other organs aren't pleasing to the eye.

You should know Hawke.
Remember that cold February night?

You say that like my hairy belly and other organs aren't pleasing to the eye.

You should know Hawke.
Remember that cold February night?

my threapists do. four of them have committed suicide, three are braindead, and seven are locked in a rumber padded room having suffered a labotimy.

20-03-2009, 20:01
At least, they died knowing that somewhere, somehow, a man with a hot body has abused many people's minds.
