Here's both lists, to drop down to 2250 I change the Oldblood on Carnosaur to a Scar-Veteran on Cold One, drop 6 Terradon Riders, 1 unit of Saurus Warriors, and a Power Stone.

What do you guys think? I would especially love to hear comments about how to use an army like this strategically, as I really am committed to having multiple units of Saurus. I could make them 6 units of 12 and go with MSU, but I liked them at 18 so that they won't lose their hitting power until they lose the back rank.

Thanks!!! :)

I'm really surprised by your aversion to standards, especially in the fighty units like the temple guard. The +1 CR are so worth the points if the unit plans to stay and fight.

I also don't think you need to list standard equipment as the non-standard equipment tends to get lost in it.

I guess I was thinking to hold back the temple guard and use the Slann with something like Lore of Fire to do damage, while the other units moved up in front... and that if it did get into combat, I would have another standard in there with it.

I'll edit out the standard equipment to make it easier to read after I get back. Thanks for the feedback... maybe I should take the standard out of the skink unit and get a few points to put one in the temple guard (and maybe the other two saurus blocks)? I can drop Huanchi's blessed totem and put the standards in the two saurus blocks without them... have to see where I can get the points for the temple guard one.

Okay, it's edited :)

Any other feedback? I haven't played fantasy yet but wanted to have an idea of the force I am shooting for... I could use any and all comments :) Thanks!

One Slann isn't enough magic at you points level, get a Priest on an EOTG or 2 normal priests.

I think your 3k list would be awesome with 2 slann and 2 TG units instead of the oldblood. Magic is better when have ALOT of it.

Dam, you're right...

What about this to buff the dispel dice up to 7:

Total- 2249

What do you guys think? Is this better? Definitely has better magic defense, and the Slann can shoot through the Skink Priest if he chooses to :). I also like keeping the units the same between the lists, and just adding/dropping them if possible (rather than changing around wargear, which gets confusing imho). Hopefully this is a little more viable and thanks for the feedback so far, as you can see I need the advice a Lot! :)

Check your math - your totals are off by about 15 or 16 points too much on both lists. Lists look okay - I'm definatley a fan of the BoR on the Oldblood/Carnosaur - you have a really good setup on him. Not a fan of the 4 power stones though - think you could better spend those points somewhere else. I prefer full command - personal preference really. I'm suprised there aren't any stegadons in your lists - those guys are great for protecting your flanks. For the magic heavy lists (slann), would drop a unit of the terradon riders to squeeze in another skink priest, to help draw out your opponent's dispel dice before letting loose with the slann. I'm not convinced yet on the skink / kroxigar units, as having skirmishing poison blowpipes screening your units would be great. Just in case you play VC too - you have 1 magic weapon in your army - watch out for those ethereals. Overrall though pretty solid.

Looks tough with all those solid blocks.

The lone slann is still going to strain to get anything done at 3000.

jax- Thanks for pointing that out, I forgot to adjust the skink/kroxigor units to drop the standards (that's why you were seeing 16 points off). The totals were what I had intended everything to add up to if I had listed it right ;)

I was hoping to use the power stones to get off some of the harder-to-cast magic (like wall of fire, etc.) and only have to use one of my casting dice to do it (one PD, one free dice, two from the stone). But you're right, I probably could do better putting it towards something else... maybe another priest.

I'm going to work the math and see how best to fit another skink priest in... will repost with that update, too. Thanks for all the feedback, guys, it's really helping me out here :)

I saw a good tactic to have a skink chief with Bane Head and pirana blade on a terradon, if you replace one of your terradon riders with the chief then you will have a great siege/mage killing unit with your chief doing 2 wounds for each hit or three against his selected target. If you also give the chief a javelin, then you will have the option of flying over a tough target (that you don't want to get into cc with), dropping rocks on it and then adding an extra 3 STR 4, BS 5 posions attacks when you shoot at it from behind to avoid being in LOS for a charge.

I also don't think your Kroxigor/skink combination is a good idea, I recommend replacing your two units with 2 units of 11 skirmishing skinks with blowpipes (these will harass the enemy and help put an enemy unit in charging range by fleeing when charged) and one unit of 4 kroxigors to protect your other flank and take out any chariots.

Okay, here is the ultimate bare-bones version. It lets me squeeze in 3 Skink Priests at 3000, and 2 at 2250, but I had to drop a Cold One (so this would have to be more of a counter-charge unit now than anything). I think with this configuration I would be hoping to get a lot of Celestial Shield / Uranon's Thunder Bolt spells, and take some pressure off of the Slann to be the only magic threat.

Still has 7 DD, but it's "natural" this time :)

I also adjusted the skink/kroxigor units to be smaller and more of throw-away units- I do want to try them together, as it seems 1 unit of 4 kroxigor might not be able to get where I need it to go. We can call these skinks the "Harrassment and Kroxigor Delivery System" (HaKDS) :)

What do you guys think?

Any comments on the updated list? Is this an improvement over the original list? I've certainly appreciated the feedback and have been trying to tweak it based on the more experienced advice you're all giving me :)

Thanks!
