Any important differences?

Lets see...

None of the Kislev units are in the middleheim one so thats a pretty big diffrence.

so in short thy have the same cross-over of units as OnG and WoC.

Yep they are two completly diffrent armylists.

However id suggest using the middleheim list as its complete and more up-to date.

The Kislev list was in WD at some point 2003, and was reprinted in the Warhammer Chronicles 2004. After which I think it has been available on some of the GW websites.

There was no Kislev list in the Storm of Chaos book.

Tourny- no.

Metagame i cant see why not. Thou i do believe the SoC book is OOP. You can easily get hold of one though.

My goal before I die is to play a Kislev/Empire army. I dunno why... The chances are slim but yeah anyways sorry about off topic ness.

But yeah as other peeps have said I don't recall there being any Kislev in the SoC book - I think it was a bit of a shame as they could have expanded on them a little bit more perhaps. Maybe Kislev will get there own book one day, when hell freezes over perhaps :D

In all fairness they dont need a seperate book.

the empire book and some 'counts-as' with soem restraint (no black powder/fullplate) is fine for kislev.

There's a feeling that some books would be great to have supplements like separate province lists for the High Elves and for the Empire, including Kislev.

The Kislev army list appears in Warhammer Chronicles 2004. There is also a Kislev army book for 6th edition. Around that time period they appeared off and on in WD magazine too. Hope that helps.

The Kislev allies list was in US WD285 (Oct, 2003) - it's identical to the PDF file on the OZ website listed above.

Only thing that confuses me about the list is that it's not clearly separated into Heroes, Core and Special units. I think the designations correspond to the units next to them on the page (Hero is Boyar, Core are Winged Lancers, Horse Archers, and Kossars, and Special are Gryphon Legion), but I'm not completely sure...

special are winger lancers and Gryphon legion are rare.

I had the booklet at one point but when i left the hobby for a while threw it out (along with 2 years worth of WD)

I thought winged lancers would be special.

There was a Cult of Ulric list posted in WD, then later we had the Middenheim list on SOC there are quite a few difference between the two.

The Kislev army, which we only ever got in that booklet, is completely different though.

They should have had Streltski in that booklet, Halberdier Handgunners.

Heros: Boyar, Tzarina, Tzar Boris

Core: Ungol Horse Archers, Winged Lancers, Kislev Kossars

Special: Gryphon Legion (0-1 choice)

Kislev has no Rare options. Gryphon Legion are only rare because they can be hired as Mercenaries in a limited number of armies. If the Tzarina is the leader of your Kislev force, the 0-1 restriction on Gryphon Legion is removed (as they are her personal bodyguard)

AFAIK Gryphon Legion are special when a part of Kislev contingent, rare when employed as mercenaries in an Empire army.
