[This was already posted on the historical games section, but might be of interest for folks planning DoW army]

As posted on the Warlord Games website:

http://www.warlordgames.co.uk/?p=1383

According to the site "boxed set will contain twenty-four (24) muskets, twelve (12) pike, and full command" with expected release date around Salute (end of March).

According to some previous news release, they were supposed to heightwise match the Perry twins ECW range (which would make them smaller than current GW Empire plastics), but since there is no size reference or ruler shown on the pictures this is difficult to confirm.

No price estimate given, but their previous plastics have been around 0.60 per model.

The major drawback for DoW enthusiast would be the need to find some use for the muskets - which the majority of the models would be armed with.

I wonder if you could order the pikemen themselves

You could do an empire army using pikemen as specials.

They do look nice, don't they?

I am glad to see more plastic options appearing. My preference is for the more posable figures (like the GW Empire Militia), but I know a lot of people prefer the one-piece figures.

Or you could call the pikemen "spearmen." I doubt very seriously that anyone would mind.

Brilliant models, hopefully somebody will put up a size comparrison or an accurate measurement after they're released.

Judging by the scale of their Celt models and the current Empire militia they will be about 3-4mm smaller

I would really like to see how these models scale next to GW ones.

The musketeers would be a waste.

Obviously not their ECW, but here's some of their Celts next to some Empire figures:

the warlord games minis are way better proportioned and look more like LOTR figures.

Absolutely fantastic work.

I would not rely too much on comparing to their previous products - these could be very well smaller or bigger than the Celts.

Would be nice for various manufacturers to put some size references (like a ruler) next to the pics of the final models, though.

As for uses in a DoW army, the metal GW DoW figures tend to be of a somewhat slighter build than the more recent Empire plastics.

You mean one unit as a rare.

I'm pretty sure specific units in the DOW list can be taken as special units in various armies. I don't know whether or not pikemen fall into this category, but it's not unprecedented.

All dogs of war units can only be taken as rare choices in other armies, however, certain regiments of renown may be taken as special choices, including special pike regiments. But the unnamed pike units in the dogs of war list can only be taken as rare sadly... :cries:

Size won't matter that much, because the current pikemen are already on a smaller scale than the rest of Warhammer.
