I am right clicking on pics off the net to save, such as anim gifs and the like, but i can only save them in .BMP format, i am sure i used to be able to save them as their original file types?? is there a setting? or is my memory bad?

Try clearing your temp. internet files.

I think that was what helped in a case like that.

Get Firefox, too.

It needs to be said:

It's porn, isn't it.

It'd have to be. There's nothing else on the internet worth saving. :D

I've been using it for a year now. I believe that problem is caused by your machine.

Indeed. I've never encountered this problem with Firefox, and have been using it for over a year as well.

Only ever seen it in Firefox.

I also used to be a pro web developer, and had 5 browsers on my machine (IE, Mozilla, Netscape, Opera and some other thing that i can't remember the name of, it was dinky and stupid). Had no such problem with them, and i'm still using the same machine and the same OS.

Therefore, the problem is with Firefox.

I have the same issue, of late. I really would like to know how to fix this without changing Browsers. I'm fond of my explorer. :(

And let's calm it on the spam people.

I stop using explorer because it stoped allowing me to download anything, and indeed because of that it caused the same problem as the one you are reporting.

Firefox is just IMHO vastly better...

You could always go into your temp internet files and grab it off there directly. ;)

The alternative is that it may be something to do with what you're downloading - try right clicking on one of the smilies on here (eg Engels frown, or my wink) and see if you're allowed to save that as a gif.
