Can you rename this project "Ogres: A New Hope" ?

Go for the battalion box and a box of ironguts; you can convert your characters from spare bulls.

At 1k I'd take a a bruiser with great weapon or tenderiser as your general and pretty much keep it as that for characters.

I always say that magic isn't worth is in 1K. The standard 2 DD (or 4 for dwarfs) obviously makes it easier for you opponent to stop your magic, and if you add more mages to overcome it then you are seriously cutting into your 1000 points.

No, I'd just take the general and save the rest of your points for more ogres.

Wow, you really renamed it A New Hope :D

The metal Tyrant model is pretty cool looking, as is the Hunter (just use either as a Bruiser), but they're also about the same cost as a box of ogres. I think the Maneater models may be cheaper, so you might consider them; the only problem I've had w/making characters out of plastic ogres is size, since the metal ogre models are much bigger than their plastic cousins.

yeh, true. i do like the maneater modles...so they are a possability. unsure, though. does anyone have an army list that they have written?? gnoblars??

For a new ogre player I'd go with something like this:

Bruiser w/ heavy armor, tenderiser, brace of handguns 196
3 bulls 105
3 bulls 105
3 ironguts 144
3 ironguts 144
3 ironguts 144
20 gnoblars 40
20 gnoblars 40
Gorger 75

Total: 993 (You could add a sword gnoblar if you wanted to)

A nice well rounded force with a good amoutn of hitting power.

Gnoblars are great (I take 120 at 2K) and in this list you could even just leave them back to hold your table quarters while you run up and they will be netting you 200 VPs for doing nothing.
