Intro:
Hey all!
My gaming group (Team Anarchy) have now reached the point where Apocalypse no longer is wishfull thinking but reality!

We`ll be using this here thread to show our progress and motivate each other to get stuff ready for our next APO game. Here`s what we`ll add to the thread:
- Super-heavies
- Formations
- Units (as in an entire unit not just a single mini from a squad)

All will be for the armies that will be apocalypse-sized.

I`m starting off with showing my current project, a Fighta-Bomma!

I`ve used two main sources for inspiration, the B-17 (flying fortress) and the blasta-bommas from FW. Pox` log on building his 40k scale blasta-bomma has so far helped me on my way but I do hope that my take on this plane is at least a tad original.

Sooo, here`s some pics before I continue blabbering on:
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tomkristianse/fighta-bommaWiP1.jpg
I used a Leman Russ turned upside down as the base model. I firmly believe that the LR kit is one of the best and most flexible kit out there!

I`ve come a bit further than that, been focusing on the nose:
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tomkristianse/fighta-bommaWiP2.jpg
Started riveting as it is quite tedious but I still need to add a bit more detail to the front. Primarily two big shootas that will be placed in the "nostrils" and cables and such.

With Pox` help I managed to get a sketch done for the wings and tail:
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tomkristianse/fighta-bommaWiP2-1.jpg
I will use the rotors from the AoBR deff koptas as props for the plane, I`ll also have one big shoota on each wing. I will have the rear hatch open and with some type of leverage system that`s where the bombs will be dropped from. So some krew members back there will also be in order.

Hope you all like it so far so please drop some comments!

Red

Nice plan/plane Red! (pun intended, you'll have to be norwegian to get it...)

Here are the first conceptual picture of what's going to become a knight:

The yellow parts are currently cardstock, but eventually be made in plasticard.

Here`s an angled pic showing the detail of the nose section a bit better:
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tomkristianse/fighta-bommaWiP3.jpg
I`ve started on the teeth for the sides to imitate the shark grin that`s quite popular on planes. For the nose mounted big shootas I used sluggas. The idea was looted from one of Krooza`s planes. I quite like the look it gives, compact and brutal.

Other than that I`ve now started on the wings and tail section, expect pics of that tomorrow.

Small but vital update, here`s the first wing:
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tomkristianse/fighta-bommaWiP3rightwing.jpg

I originally thought that I would do the same as the Goff Rocker with having open parts showing the innards of the wing. With the engines in place it wasn`t that much room for it so I went with the cables on top like Pox. Still have a lot of work on the wing left but I feel this is a good start.

Impressive...most impressive.

I would like to see, if it wouldn't make it too cramped, some big spotlights for eyes :D

I plan on adding some spotlights but where is a different issue, maybe on the wings?

I think 1 big light on each wing closer to the main body of the bomma, then 2 little ones towards the end of the wing. Like landing lights, if you see what I mean.

Red Skullz
28-02-2009, 13:20
That`s a really good idea! I`ll look into it :)

I feel that everything fell in place with the wing fixed, stoked that it visually actually works (for me at least).

Now* the plan is to detail and fix the next wing in place so that I can continue with the tail section and the krew compartment where all the fun stuff will be dropped.

talast,
Red

*Now as in at a later stage. I`m so pleased at how this build is going I`m going to watch Heroes season 2 and grin for myself lol

That. Is. Pant-wettingly awesome :D

Very very nice Red. Although, I'd like a head-on shot of the bomma, as I can't make up my mind as to how short the wing is.
Other than that, it's brilliant!

Red Skullz
28-02-2009, 22:15
Thanks OOC :D

I`ll include more pics as soon as the next wing is on. Also having normal daylight will show the details a bit better, the flash is really killing the pics at this time of the day..

However scale-wise it`s:
- Length w/tail: 9"
- Length no/tail: 5"
- Wingspan: 11"

Next you need to make a dead 'eavy bomma wiv 4 enginez fer carrying bigga bomms.

01-03-2009, 06:20
crackin' good job.I love how you can still see the looted tank, once you get all the gubbins on it should look smooth as silk. (or rough as sandpaper, as the case may be for orks.)

Red Skullz
01-03-2009, 07:31
@Cat:
Yeah I like proppelars, WWII planes are way cooler than todays imo! Nope, I`ll be making a standard fighta since I only have one left from the AoBR kit lol :D

@pox:
Thanks pox :) I try to follow the russ` lines as much as possible to keep the look of the tank so it`s a balance thing with how much to add before the tank disappears.

@Red Skullz: Love the wing, but like theRef I'll have to point out the issue with the propeller... :)

The Knight is starting to come together. Managed to build up the cockpit and the legs, and it now stands on its own.
Toes and the bulk of the upper body are still missing.

@OOC:
The second wing is attached so I`ll post up some pics later this evening.

@OP:
Noted, will be fixed! Also, the knight is really shaping up! Make sure you don`t hide to much of the cool mechanics from the defiler kits with plates and stuff ;) I would also add that you need to change the barding on the plates, they are to chaos-y at the mo`.

R

01-03-2009, 15:54
Cool i love the idea of the upturned tank as part of the plane, but you need to put some motors in the engines to make the propellors spin. then it woul be truly awsome.

Red Skullz
01-03-2009, 16:19
Thanks :) The green part on the wings are the engines, just need to add som exhausts ;)

R

Red Skullz

So with a bit more of work done I managed to get the second wing on:
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tomkristianse/fighta-bommaWiP5bothwings.jpg

Got a bit more to do on the side with the newest wing but the main part is done with fixing it in place.

Now as I continue detailing that side I`ll start on fleshing out the tail section at the same time. I`ve used foamcard as the basis for the wings and tail with 0.40mm plasticard covering all the foamcard. Used foamcard for the weight and it saves me a lot of plasticard.

R

OP master N

I can see the plane now... And so can my Thundelbolt :)

The basis of a tail now, and then its just lots of fidly bitz to make it propa orky...
And there's lot's of speed involved...(in the building too)

Red Skullz
01-03-2009, 18:18
@OP M N:
Lol, yeah it was kinda hard in the beginning to actually see that it was anything but a tank :)
It hasn`t taken that long since I had a good plan and everything has worked out accordingly. A bonus factor is that I`m better at scratchbuilding and kitbashing than before so there`s a lot of time saved there.

@OOC:
First need to learn how to cast and if I where to cast it I would have to build another one so that I could do it piece by piece (as in larger pieces). Thanks for the compliment noentheless :)

Red Skullz

Yeah I`m surprised that FW haven`t done more on orks than they have, imo the race you can do the most with! However IG players are having a field day and them meqs as well.

To be somewhat on topic I`ve made the foamcard skeleton for the tail section and it`s drying as we speak. Tomorrow I`ll add plasticard and start on some of the innards of the tailsection. I have some very nice plans for this part of the bomma :D

Taken me some days to get to this stage. Here`s the bomms and burna bomms:
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tomkristianse/fighta-bommaWiP6bomms.jpg

Used various bitz & pieces for them, very happy with the start of the crane for dropping the bomms. It will make more sense as I start on the rear cabin ;)

Here`s how far the fighta-bomma has evolved:
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tomkristianse/fighta-bommaWiP6bommaassembled.jpg

I will make similar tail fins as on the fighta-bomma in the Apocalypse book. I reckoned it`s the safest version as I don`t trust the tail gunner a lot lol!

Ammo-box, stuff on the roof, a fan and a grille on the backside.

The auspex, searchligth and hatch are obvious rhino parts.
The fan is a grey-stuff remould from a CoD building part.
I'm going to build another grille on the other side of the back, and thinking of making a ladder between the grilles...

c&c please

I think I would do it like a normal gun. There are pens with the right shape, I`ve used some on my looted wagon w/skorcha and for the supa skorcha on my stompa. They can be detailed with thin plasticard. I should have some lying around here somewhere, I can take a look-see ;)

Scratchbuilding filled with win! The plane is shaping up very nicely, that's a great selection of bits you have going there. For some reason every time I see Orky aircraft, i expect to see a gremlin on the wing tearing bits off with a maniacal grin. Too much Twilight Zone as a kid I suspect. Either, way both projects look great, looking for forward to the WIP as much as the finished product, cheers!

wow, both of these projects are looking great. for the knight i agree with the other vent and the ladder in between them, will ad some more interest to the back. that bomber is great!!, i eagaly await the finished product, what are the other members of your group makeing?, be interesting to know what these projects will go up against:D

Red Skullz
07-03-2009, 08:09
Thanks guys :D

I will be adding some krew to the plane as I think that`s an important feature on orky vehicles. I`ll have that grot on the wing on my list just in case ;)

Per now it`s only me and OP that are building the big stuff, the other guys are pretty much in the "own 3000 ish points of minis" category. The Ref is the one I`m wondering on what he`ll build. I guess it`s something to bolster his new SM army but it could be bolstering his necrons with that tower-thingy. Only time will tell but me and OP are nagging on the other guys to get cracking on the funny stuff for Apocalypse :)
We all like building stuff instead of buying from FW so this I expect this thread to last for quite some time. Oh I almost forgot about Borg, he`s all about nids and will most likely place an order with FW.

For me I`m aiming for at least a fighta and a kustom-stompa. I already have a stompa WiP but with the new datasheets I see no reasons why I shouldn`t make another one lol!

2: deff arsenal
3: goff rok`n`rolla

Sure would be fine to convince The Ref to build something... And cool if Borg bought a Bio-Titan, but so far it's up to the two of us to defend Team Anarchy's scratch - building honour... Right, Red?!

Anyway, here is a reminder of what else I've buildt:

Red Skullz
08-03-2009, 14:22
I`ve spent ages on finding a proper base with something to get the bomma airborne. In the end I found a paper roll holder which worked really well. I know it`s a bit thick but that will be fixed with a paintjob. The most important thing for me is that it`s sturdy and can hold the weight and stability when gaming.

Other than that you can see that I`ve now added the bomb-droppa using parts from the trukk grabbin klaw and some other bitz and pieced I had lying around. I don`t have room for the burna booms back there so they will be placed on the wings. All in all I`m more or less done with the majority of the build but of course I have a lot of detailing left.

Yeah that`s one of the things I wanted from the start and luckily I managed to pull it off :D It`s magnetised so I can take out everything but the floor mount. The bomms are also magnetised so it can be removed after dropping it or put a burna bomm there. Pretty nifty if I can say so myself ;)

You certainly can say!

Now I look at it more and more, I just thought of a wacky rule you could use when you're gaming.
The bomma drives along on it's tracks (albiet slowly) and chops things up with it rotor blades as it goes! :chrome:

It could work...

Would be a fun rule but quite hard to set a points value for it :)

make another one! like a 'eavy bomma with a land raider as the base. or some deff copta ones, with ork buggies or tao piranha as the base.

I just really like the idea of ground vehicles converted to flight craft. Its a very orky idea, and one I hadn't heard of till you thought it up. it would be cool to see you run with it a bit. I just don't know if your apoc army ideas have that many aircraft in it. I know its hard to do a ton of aircraft without having an opponent who is willing to model up a good amount of AA weapons, both static defense and vehicles.

(I think my longbeard ramblings just came out. suffice to say, your plane looks awesome.)

@pox:
We`ll see. My next two apo projects are a normal fighta and a stompa using one of the new datasheets from the last WD. However making another bomma would be nice as they pack quite a punch. Any ideas on what to base it from? I do have some parts that could work out well, don`t want it to be a copy of this one though.

As for our gaming group Team Anarchy having loads of flyers wouldn`t be an issue. We`re very open on what we`re building so it wouldn`t be a surprise ya know :)

Thunderbolt MK II - a.k.a. Zpittfayer

Hi all - long time no posts. Been abroad for a long time, now I'm back.
(no smilies apparently...)

My fellow hobbyists did not like my "straigth from the box" Spitfire model as a counts as thunderbolt(TB). To aerodynamical they said, no use for that "in space". You need powerfull engines - and also should make the shape more square'ily like the original TB..

Hence I had to make some improvements to it, to make it look more like a "real" TB..

Rules:
I use the Age of strife VDR (http://www.ageofstrife.com/tools/vdr/) to generate a Space Marine (SM) version of the TB, as my army is SM's. SM got BS=4, and I also put on 2 rockets, 2 bombs, 2 AA TL Autocannons and 1 TL Lascannon.
For armour I've not decided yet. 9 all round (named Zpittfayer MK II) or 10 all round (named Zpittfayer MK III)
With the config above, and MK II it's 285 pts.
With config above, and MK III it's 310 pts.
Probably worth 25 pts to get 10 AV all round, but what I'll choose will depend on the final outcome of the plane/model - what goes with the model..

I think of this model as a character full TB, maybe the leader of a squadron or something. A cool house rule would be "parachuting" (as deep strike, but scatter 3D6 from where plane is shot down), as the pilot model is sitting on one. If so, this rule would only be implemented in a story driven game, where for example one sides mission is to kill the harassing pilot, where the other sides mission is to get the pilot to destroy some objectives, with his plane, or a pistol and a meltabomb should he parachute to the surface.. To give the opponents a chance of killing him, he can't disengage when he first arrives, unless all his objectives has been taken out..

Versions:
I've made a few versions of the plane, toying with the VDR, all having the same weapons config as mentioned earlier:
Zpittfayer MK I - Imperial pilot & BS 3, AV 9 - 225 pts
Zpittfayer MK II - SM pilot & BS 4, AV 9 - 285 pts
Zpittfayer MK III - SM Pilot & BS 4, AV 10 - 310 pts
Zpittfayer MK IV - SM Pilot & BS 4, AV 9, warmachine & 2 structure points - 385 pts
Zpittfayer MK V - SM Pilot & BS 4, AV 10, warmachine & 2 structure points - 410 pts

Playtesting and experienced advice will guide me to choosing the most fun and most fair version to play with.

The Pilot:
I had an extra head from an impact miniatures (or something) dwarf I ordered as a slayer hero for my fantasy DWARF army. His hair is blown back by the wind, ideal for a pilot imo. The interiour of the cockpit and the pilot is painted and modelled. To see it I had to make a huge hole, battledamage, in the side of the aircraft.

The Pilot is buildt useing long drong slayer feet, GS legs, SM scout upper body, and slayer arms.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i230/andjohnsen/Space%20Marines%2040K/IMG_0676-1.jpg

WIP - the plane:
Based on a 1:36 scale model of a "Spitfire MK X" - suitable for a dwarf to pilot. The spitfire because it's my favourite WWII airplane, even though maybe a messerschmidt would be a better base for a TB..

The engines are made from plastic tube (got some for free at lokal hardwarestore), warzone purlple shark fan's, and the manned pintlemounted hatches from two whirlwind sets - the man's torsoe beeing used at the rear with his detailed body inside the engine, and the hatch frame beeing used at the front around the warzone fan's. GS was used to fasten the parts to the plastic tube.

I used pliers to cut the planes wings into a more square shape.

Autocannons and Lascannons is made by plastic tube around plastic sprue from the spitfire set.

Bombs and rockets - two is from the whirlwind set, magnetized to the underside of the wings. Due to the magnets, things can be attatched to the top of the wing as well.. I used this opportunity to temporarily attatch two hunter killer missiles (HKM) that will count ass missiles. I'll look for more suitable missiles to attatch underneath the wings later..

Pictures:
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i230/andjohnsen/Space%20Marines%2040K/IMG_0676.jpg
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i230/andjohnsen/Space%20Marines%2040K/TBMKIIFront.jpg

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i230/andjohnsen/Space%20Marines%2040K/IMG_0678.jpg
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i230/andjohnsen/Space%20Marines%2040K/IMG_0677.jpg

TO DO:
Putty the engines - To get rid of the plastic tube's original shape. Maybe make the engines a bit more square shaped, as on the forgeworld TB model.
Nose - a terminator back will be used as air intake, and putty/plasticcard for the rest of the nose..
Tail fins - I'll use plasticcard and putty to make them more like the Forgeworld TB ones.
Tail - Probably make some sort of small jet engine in there, underneath the tail fins, to work as a power plant for the plane..
Cables/tubing - Between engines and nose, as on original TB.
Underside - I'll use putty / GS to make it look better from underneath, especially around the nose.
Rockets - I'll find two more suitable rockits to put underneath the wings, unfortunately I've used one of the two small ones I had from the whirlwind set..
Big Smart Bomb - Don't know what this does, but would be cool to have a few bigger bombs , laser guided maybe, to use on upgraded versions of the TB. I've magnetized weapons so there's no problem swapping to solve a special mission.. Thundebolts - I should perhaps make a squadron for my custom TB to lead, at least maybe a wingman. If so this will be a easy plasticard version, using templates from the internet.

Please comment, and feel free to suggest improvements.

Thunderbolt WIP part 2

Had a bit more work done on this last night. Puttied the engines, closing gaps. Started with some plastic card and experimented with different nose versions.. Not sure how to do it yet..

Also did some work with the TL Lascannon and I added the cables between engines and the plane. I used sprue from the ighty empires box to make the insides of the straw piping, the sprue corners beeing curved they're almost perfect. (had to carve them into tubed shape, to make em fit inside the straw..)

Anyways, the pictures:

Mainly the tail section that needs a bit more work, some plates and a lot of cables and it should be done. I`m also adding a cable feed to the burna bomms holders which ends up to the pilot. Think big red buttons for bomms release :D
Other than that you can see that I`ve bitz bashed a lot on this build and I will do it on the next bomma as well.

I`ve also ordered plasticard since I`m almost out of it so I should be well off regarding finishing this bomma and my stompa as well as building a new bomma and stompa.

Well it will be nice with a small break since I`ve been going at full pelt since mid january on da Kruy. Well, one of them will most certainly be a Stormlord, to take out all them agonizing ork boys..
The other will probably be a Shadowsword, but with magnetized barrels so it can function as more of the heavy shooter tanks.. I've heard there will be two stompas, a warhound titan, an eldar titan and a knight present in the next apo'match, so if I fight all of them I could need the high power guns..

In time I'll get miself some stormtroopers to go inside the stormlord too, but in the first apocalypse match It'll attend, I'll lend it's transport capasity to a friends troopers -If he'll participate in the hunt for the frontline that is..

Thunderbolt WIP part 5

Still something left around the tubes between engines and body.

Done some work on the nose, using a LEGO bit for the underside of the nose... Hopefully I won't have to build that twin engine post plane any time soon for my son... Need some sensors and an air intake in the front of the nose, stll thinkin on how to do that (inbetween paintig 50 necron warriors, 5 pharias, 1 lord, 1tombspyder and 5 destroyers..).

The underside of the plane is not looking the very best, but the way I see it most people won't see that during play anyways.. I'll square out the engine armour and that'll be it i think.. Well, think I need to smooth out the engines a bit with putty too..

Well, must admit I've tried on the IG head you gave me too, but it looked to small, his arms being that of dwarf miners. Also he's got naked feet..
I'll see how the dwarf head turns out after some fixin', maybe I need to start looking for some other kind of characterful head..

Wilco Tyruin, come back tomorrow ;)

Arrait so I`m finally back in building mode after being away from work for a couple of weeks and I also spent the week after that with my family.

Now one of the things I thought the most about while away was my stompa, here`s the result:
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tomkristianse/stompa1-1.jpg

Main things left to do are:
- final detailing on legs (more hydraulics, etc)
- dakka arm, a mag for the cannon, rivets and some more cables
- finish the supa-rokkits (the pen tips in the cylinders)
- some greenstuffing here and there for the worst gaps (after doing the final chipping)
- and...well I think that`s about it (besides more rivets of course).

C&C please!

Me and Hawke were wondering where you'd been off :D

That's a bloody nice Stompa you've got there. Although, the legs are a bit weedy in my opinion, but other than that excellent!

Aye aye! The next step will be the topside on the stompa with the kap`n and the big mek, need to have some krew crawling around for the fun of it. I`m actually quite confident that I can get the stompa and the fighta bomma ready for paint by the end of easter. Already arranged with OP M N that I can use his spray gun which should speed the painting process a lot :D

Lol! Thanks mate :)

I`ve now adressed the main issue people had with my stompa, the skinny legs. Also done a lot of detailing on it as checkers, platform for the Kap`n & Big Mek, and...well, detailing ;)

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tomkristianse/stompa1-2.jpg

That should leave the following to do:
- dakka arm, a mag for the cannon, rivets and some more cables
- finish the supa-rokkits (the pen tips in the cylinders)
- some greenstuffing here and there for the worst gaps (after doing the final chipping)

Here`s todays update:
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tomkristianse/stompa1-3.jpg

Added the ammoclip to the cannon, greenstuffed here and there and added a "tad" more rivets to it all. I also fixed the arms so that they have a standard pose, they`re still magnetised I just made sure that they are in the position they`re meant to be. The last thing I need to do now is file the tips of the supa-rokkits, add rivets to the greenstuffed bands and then it`s off to a basecoat!

If anyone wants to add anything that I should incorporate and/or improve on the stompa this is the time as it`s only 24 hours before I basecoat it ;)

@Red: Did I? Hehe :)

On demand, here's a picture (not so good, but I only had my cell phone then, and now I've sent it all up north)
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i230/andjohnsen/Space%20Marines%2040K/WHhalvpris.jpg

The picture shows what I picked up at GW in Oslo (ordered there) and what I got out of the "50% on all warhammer" sale.. In addition (not on the picture) I bought 3 pck of green stuff, a pck of jungle plants and 2 pck's of craters.

Also not showing in this picture is what I bought for Azmo and Red and Draco (Orc Battlewagon, eldar battleforce, eldar war walker sqdrn, eldar wraith lord, chaos predator, SM predator)..

Out of this I'll get Vostroyan officers commanding a mixed cahan and cadian platoon with a couple scouting sentinels, three super heavy tanks, more SM scouts (goal beeing a full scout company apo formation), the tiny 40K rulebook(and ass on black reach miniatures), a third dreadnaught, some hardcore SMs(veterans, cmd squad, devestators), sgt chronous riding a land raider crusader, a manufactorum, 40 more necron warriors(for 20 immortals and 20 knifenecrons), a c'tan nightbringer and a fourth monolith :D Think that summs it up, as well as summing up my "buying miniatures career" for a while at least..

Nice jobz, they'll come around great, and in good time for the apo'game it looks like :D
A bit dark pictures OP M, or have you used that dark colors? (maybe it's just my computer...)

My self: Only managed to build (snap'attach) the miniatures from assault on black reach this easter... They all need a rebuild though, then including glue etc, as they were buildt for a few practice games I managed to sneak in :) The low production rate is the downside of goin away, though this year it also ment the bonus of discovering the warhammer 50% sale, truely giving me an apocalyptic force.. This also meaning I probably only will have time to construct all my miniatures, and not paint much of them before the apo'game.. :S

Keep it up, lookin forward to see the finished stompa and the beginning of the next one :)

File: 7602/ 3213/ 32-10.294// Code: The Intricate Study of "da Red Krumpany"//

Date:0324987M41.

Subject: The following contains investigations by Inquisitor Anthraxus on the WAAAGH known as Red Krumpany. The investigation started after the loss of the mining colony Niflheim in the Hel Segundus system. At the time this was given to the recently elevated Inquisitor Anthraxus as he is a junior member of the Ordo Xenos and hence young and ambitious.//

Rating: Gamma level clearance//

Cross ref to: Reports from Chaplain Augustus 3rd Company, Dark Angels.

+++0194986M41.+++

+Findings:
Type: Super-heavy walker
Unit: Stompa
Name: "da Revenant"

As my earlier forays into the structure and tactics of the WAAAGH known as Red Krumpany has shown there are more than meets the eye when looking closely. The same can most definitely be said of this construct.
It is believed that the main inspiration for this stompa* is actually taken from the Eldar Revenant Titan**. As the Red Krumpany favours urban battlefields and excell at this it might be seen as a natural source of inspiration. Take a look at this pict which illustrates my point (in advance I apologise for the poor quality of the picts, but as you can imagine it is not an easy venture to begin with);
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tomkristianse/stompa1-FINfront.jpg
You can see the fairly thin and fragile legs compared to the bulky body. Those legs allow the stompa to move with a fair bit of grace and speed (for an orkish walker) through the urban battlefield, stalking it`s prey.

Now let`s take a look at the main armament of "da Revenant". In typical fashion of the stompa constructs the arms are fairly thin compared to the bulk of the main hull. The arms fulfill specific roles, namely one being dakka and the other krumpy***.

First let`s take a look at the dakka arm:
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tomkristianse/stompa1-FINdakka.jpg
This arms sports the enormous deth-kannon with a co-axial linked supa-gatler. The orks do lack any type of accuracy so the natural solution to this (in an orks mind) is to increase the amount of shots fired. An interesting part to note here is that the Red Krumpany often loot Imperial munitions as seen on the magazine "clip" on the deth-kannon).

The "krumpy" arm:
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tomkristianse/stompa1-FINkrumpy.jpg
Here we see a titan ccw in the form of a gigantic chainfist, a supa-skorcha and TL big shootas. It`s been summarised that the combination of the big shootas and supa-skorcha is meant to weaken the enemy`s hull so that the chainfist can rip through it more easily.

Top section:
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tomkristianse/stompa1-FINtopside.jpg
Topside we can see on the left shoulder area the three fire points that a mob honoured enough to be able to be transported by the stompa can use. Also seen is where the Kap`n**** and Big Mek can view the battlefield from their command bridge and make their tactical assesments (see the primitive tube protruding from the head area of the stompa, this if for communicating with the main operators). In Imperial eyes this would be seen as extremely risky and foolhardy but seen from an orks mindset it makes sense. How better to feel the rush and full power of such a mighty warmachine than from that point?

Front section:
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tomkristianse/stompa1-FINmainhull.jpg
For the front of the stompa you can see the typical plated repairs the orks favours, two big shootas and three points for the supa-rokkits. As we can see all of these weapons are crewed from the point of the weapon and not from the head section which contains the main operators.

To finish off my findings on "da Revenant" here`s a look of the rear section.
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tomkristianse/stompa1-FINrear.jpg
Engine mounted high on the back. The small platform with the big shoota gunner has a door, this is believed to lead into the engine room.
Underneath this we see three entry points. The center one is believed to contain the holding area for transported units while the other two are for the various gunners and meks manning the stompa.

*Stompa is a common imperial designation for all of their medium sized super-heavy walkers. It is more an indication of size rather than battlefield role.
**The Eldar Revenant Titan is known for moving with great swiftness and smothness. That paired with holo-fields makes it a very difficult target and an ideal warmachine for taking out enemy titans.
***Full explanation of these terms can be found in the volume, Ordo Xenos: Ork Encyclopedia-da Words.
****Kap`n. A variation on the use of the more typical Boss for a leader.

+Conclusion:

"da Revenant" is seen as a new and very deadly threat in any theatres that the Red Krumpany will operate in. The very nature and inspiration for it makes it likely that it will stalk the streets and hit as hard as only an ork construct can against high value targets.
However I firmly believe that an attack from the rear will make it fairly easy to take down by targeting the lower section as it can barely hold the massive weight of the upper torso.

Mostly done painting, not varnished yet.

This is a "Guardian-pattern" Revenant titan, so many details have it's source there...

Still a lot of blemishes that bothers me, but it had to be finished. And some of them were hard to see, until they became painfully obviuos after some paint. At least it can allways be tracked back to me by CSI... :)

Anyhow, it's equiped to blast "da Revenant" to tiny pieces !!! Rigth Red Skulls??

I've started building the Stormlord and the Baneblade. Most of the chassis is identical on both superheavy variants, so after the first one the second went much faster.

I'm trying to build the Stormlord changeable, so that I can use it as every variant. This involves magnets in the barrels of the cannon, movable turret etc.. I think it'll work, at least up until painting time, and it will give me the opportunity to field either two stormlords, two shadowswords, one of each or a pair including two different super heavies from the six possible variants.

If this is usefull in any way might be debatable, as we've only got one scheduled apocalypse match before summer... I might discard the movable turret, loose the opportunity of two shadowswords / two stormlords, and end up with one stormlord with changeable main wpn, and one shadowsword with magnetised main wpn.

The "convertion plans" I can think of for my three tanks at the moment is the following:
1. Stormlord - sandbags and heavy wpn teams spread around the tank..
2. Shadowsword - vostroyan command team, magnetized to turret, swappable with hatches..
3. Baneblade - commissar tank cmd'er, extra sponsons..

Please feel free to help me with any thougts around main convertion theemes, would be great to have a unique tank..

Anybody have any great Ideas about how to swap the sponsons around, or where the best position to permanently fix them is? (of the three options..)

Had some leftovers from my BW kit after using it for parts to the stompa, fighta-bomma and Gobsmasha so I decided to make a Bullbreaka out of it. A vindicator look-a-like bullbreaka. I`ll be using these rules for it:
- looted wagon
- boomgun
- big shoota
- `ard case
- reinforced ram

The reason for taking a looted wagon was to get another boomgun on the table, it`s a lot better than the killkannon AND this version is a lot cheaper pts wise.

Finished the gunner/observer. Did some more detailing on top, including a powercable for the spot. Added an engine and a rear hatch. Shouldn`t be too much left now before I can paint it. I`m wondering on adding some stowage on it as this will be a close support wagon for the footbased mobs. Would make sense I think.

It looks incredible Red. I don't think a little bit of stowage would be amiss. Maybe between the gunner and viewpoint, on the little flat bit there?

Also, are you thinking about adding some forms of trackguards? I think some thin ones would help bulk out the sides a bit, as the trakks looks a little out of place at the moment.

Great work despite that :D

TELEPATHIC DUCT: Astropath-terminus Faziel
REF: Inq/01428235257/PT
AUTHOR: Inquisitor Anthraxus - Ordo Xenos
TITLE: Operation Mjolnir
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: "Suffer not the Alien to Live (Alaitocís day will come)!

+++VOX CASTER+++
Brother Captains!
As you all know the WAAAGH known as "Da Red Krumpany" are now preparing to make planetfall on Hel IV from Nivlheim. Hel IV`s promethium refineries are their main objectives as they need at least one of them as well as a shipdock. This will enable them to link up with their forces on Nivlheim. If they succeed in this they will be able to leave this system and wreak havoc in other Imperial sectors, we suspect Nivlheim is being turned into a Rok.

The Necrontyr threaten Hel IV as well. I had hoped that their tomb world was Nivlheim but this was not the case! Their main goal, as it always is, is to kill all living creatures, but they are also showing a lot of interest towards a Sanctuary and a site we classify as sacred in the area of the Mjolnir facility. This has enraged the Eldar from the Craftworld of Alaitoc and we have per now a truce with them. I will come back to this issue later.

S-III/XVIII (Salamanders 3rd Company)
MISSION:
Captain!
Your task will be to stop the Red Krumpanyís advance, and secure objective GAMMA and OMEGA at any cost.
They are led by their supreme commander, the Warboss known as Red Skullz. He has a mechanised infantry forced ranging from light to heavy with a high capacity for rapid assaults. He has additional support from at least two Stompas and two Fighta-Bommas.
For this reason the Cadian 114th Regiment (mixed) 2nd Coy are under your command for some much needed armoured support!

OBJECTIVES:
+OMEGA: Take and hold the refinery with two scoring units
+GAMMA: Take and hold the shipdock with one scoring unit
+ALPHA: Personal objective, see own file.

DA-III/I (Dark Angels 3rd Company)
MISSION:
Captain!
Your task will be a difficult one as it involves a truce with the Eldar from Craftworld Alaitoc. Do not ask any questions here captain...this is Ordo Xenos matters, and they are best left alone for the uninitiated!
The Necrons main goal are to kill any living beings, however they have shown a lot of interest towards the sanctuary and the location defined as a sacred site. They consist mainly of heavy infantry with teleportation capabilities as well as some forces with skimmer capacity. Remember captain, fear is the mindkiller. and the Necrontyr revel in fear!
In case the Eldar try to turn on you I have assigned a Warhound, Knight Titan and a Thunderbolt at your disposal.

OBJECTIVES:
+OMEGA: Take and hold the sanctuary with two scoring units
+GAMMA: Take and hold the sacred site with one scoring unit
+ALPHA: Personal objective, see own file.

Indeed, more than you`d think ;)

Here`s a verbal update on what I`m up to.
My goals before the match are:
- paint fighta-bomma #1
- paint bullbreaka
- paint gobsmasha
- paint trukk boyz mob #2
- paint Red Skullz
- build fighta-bomma #2
- build stompa #2
- build lungbursta
- build the remainder for the meganobs mob

All in all quite a daunting task. It will all sum up to 4500 points (that`s all of my ork stuff not only what I`ve listed above), leaving me two assets rounding it all off nicely at 5000 points.

I`m currently in a painting mode so should be some pics of that this weekend, after that I`ll re-tune myself into building mode so that I can show off the first pics of stompa #2 (I`ve already built quite a lot on it).

Rik is busy with work so no updates from him for a couple of weeks, but his necrons are almost complete, he only needs to build some minor stuff. He`s also being so nice that Draco the fourth player (salamanders & cadians) can lend a superheavy tank from him :)

So OP, when can we see some pics of ye`re panzies?? I know you`ve been busy assembling :)

Now I`m almost done but we`re playing a game tomorrow and I`ll snap some pics of that.

talast,
Red

Jepp, late nights for me this week..

We do get the normal "one strategic asset pr player" too? Or do we have to count them into our armies cost?

Draco can borrow two of my super heavies actually.. In any combination he wants..

What sort of secressy do we use regarding the army lists?

And the alpha objective, do we secretly choose one of them, or solve them all?

Red Skullz
22-04-2009, 05:52
Yes the normal one counts in, but since we`re playing 4000-5000 pts per player the best is to round it all up with assets to even the scores.

You do know that Draco is our opponent :p Just kidding, only right if he has room for them in his list :)

Whatever you like, some elements will be "explored" by Inq Anthraxus, I`ll get back to you on that one.

Since me and you only have one army but the other two has two each, we (as in me and you) need two to even the score otherwise they will have a two point advantage from the get-go. So the answer is, solve both ALPHA objectives.

I`ve now updated the index in the first post to include "matches", so for those wondering what we are talking about here on page 10, take a look at page 9 ;)

@Red SKullz: Paint scheme = Plastic grey... well, I'll decide at a later stage hobby wize...

@azmo - like the pose in the first picture (or maybe it's just the angle the picture was taken from), makes it look really cool and running hunting it's prey :D

Done some work on the necrons, first a PIP 4th monloith and the 10 Immortals & 10 flayers WIP:
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i230/andjohnsen/Necrons%2040K/flayersandimmortalsand4thmonolith.jpg
I've made the monolith really really easy this time.. Cut the frames one night, glued the whole thing together another night. Then used a black spray as basecoat, finishing it off with some silver spray from a distance, making it cover less of the monolith and the black "shine" trough.. It looks OK in my display cabinet, and since it is my 4th I won't do it better (I'll use two others for normal 40k games..). Also my necrons are supposed to be simple paint and build wize... Only remaining on this 4th monolith is the door, still beeing plastic grey.

I'm also converting 20 necron warriors into 10 immortals and 10 flayers. Got the idea from someone in this forum actually, thanx whoever it is.

Looked through your pictures more thouroughly today azmo, you might want to do some smoothen'ing of the right shoulder thing. The window looking vents or whatever it is :) Looks a bit irregular that casting compared to the one on the left shoulder.. The edge of it that is.

Maybe you should do something to make the top hatch look a bit more hinged as well..

Also discovered some more fancy details, like the tubing going everywhere.. Is that the same sise of plastic rod as used for rivets, or do you have even thinner ones?

Great stuff you've got here (and alot of it!) I like your knight titan, can the head open to show the driver ??

@kormas: Cheers, my warhound is built from a template and my Knight Paladin is mostly kitbashing and some use of a rather plain knigth template. Reds Stompa and fighta-bomma are pure inspiration. There should a least be a picture of my Thunderbolt, but that is all from a template. And Rik's thunderbolt is inspired by mine...

@the damned artificer: Cheers mate, the top of the Knigth cockpit are loose...

Updated the Gun arm of my Knigth Paladin, to make it more like the other.
And I added some pistons to the arms.
Now the arms are glued in that position.

Woops...

Planetstrike :D Got the "book", and picked up a "few" more things when going to buy it...

My Coalition of the Emperors finest is now increased with:
1 catachan command squad
1 cadian command squad
1 cadian stormtrooper squad (casacrin)
2 valkyries (now 3 in total, as the first was bought earlier, not mentioned in my overview)
3 leman russ (a squadron in a box..)

This'll make my imperial guard work as panzer and airborne assault'ers in my SM/IG coalition, the rest of the troopers going into the super heavies.

I've also been building a display / playtesting "shelf" in my "construction area" lately (still very WIP). It'll represent either the home planet of my coalition or a battleship/star cruiser taking part in the Niflheim Crusade of some sort - well at least the flight deck of it.. I've so far buildt an "air traffic controlltower/baneblade turret guntower" with an "underground" access area, an outpost and a bridge leading to it.. The following items (due to planetstrike) might now be a part of this planet/starship, as they're safely stored in my other shelves:
2 skyshield landingplatforms (most definitely one at least!)
2 bastions
2 aegis defence lines

The last thing I got on todays buying frenzy was an ork battlewagon... It'll be kitbashed to make a skullhamma konvertion top for my baneblade, as I was supposed to lend my assault on black reach orks to the "Red Skullz Waaagh" in our apocalypse match (that sadly was put on hold until further notice...). Suprisingly the orks from that box fit perfectly with the 30 model transport capasity of the skullhamma, that is if you use two of the deathcoptas as a harassing scouting party :)
