Im a loyal 40,000 player, but I've been itching to try out Warhammer Fantasy. I read up a tiny bit about the various armies and I think that I want to be the Ogres.
I don't know how many points most people play their games at but I dont want to escelate into gigantic battles..Are there....saypeople who play 500 - 1000 Points often?

Also thanks for helping out guys!

We would love to help.

We won't make a list for you.

Draw something up and we will critique it. 1000 would probably be better then 500.

Most people play 2000 but 1000 is a great way to start. All you need is the batallion and a character pretty much for the ogres..and the army book obviously!
I have never really played against ogres and know little of them so I wont be much help at all. Best of luck! :D

Bruiser w/ heavy armor, tenderiser, brace of handguns
3 bulls
3 bulls
3 ironguts
3 ironguts
3 ironguts
20 gnoblars
20 gnoblars

That's 993 points. You could add a sword gnoblar if you wanted to to fill in the points.

Good place to start anyway.

The thing is, Im a 40,000 Player. So I don't have a Ogre (Codex?) to count points with.

@Moralein:

Hmm any ideas on how much it would cost me? That also is a factor with many gamers :P

In WFB, the books are known as Army Books, rather than Codices.

My advice to you would be: get the army book first. Read it through, and start to plan the units you want to include.

I would also advise never, ever trying to make ranked blocks of Ogres. MSU is the only way they can realistically work.

The army book is a must. Find someone else who plays them and borrow their book to see it that choice is really the one you want. Or just buy the new books as they come out. That can get expensive though. Borrow the book if nothing else your local game store should have a copy you can look through. Happy hunting and I think the elves look nice.

Hmm. How about the 250$ CAD Giant set... Would it be worth the load of cash?
