So what is the most popular army on warseer, please only state yours, not what you think the majority of people think.

My choice of armies are:

Tyranids...it was invenitable after playing Space hulk when I was like 10 or something.

13th Company Space Wolves...Coz I like the Space Wolves, but as a starting army, I wanted a small you fairly robust force adn since 13th Co. have a points resrtiction on them and they pack a mean punch in small numbers, I found them perfect for me. Plus I like the Wulfen.

A poll might help.

EDIT: Oh, I see, nevermind.

Is it my favourite army or my favourite army that I'm currently collecting or have in my possession?

My favourite army is probably Sisters of Battle, but I've never collected them.

EDIT: I've chosen not to vote, as I don't consider "Inquisitorial order" to do the nuns justice.

My favourite army that I HAVE collected, is, hmmm, either Necrons or "Chaos" (Can't decide which specific Chaos army though).

How is this meant to work?

I spent a while posting the poll...

Off topic - you know you want to change to red PD!

EDIT: why does it post the thread while you are still writing the poll? its a bit silly.

i started with dark angels, i moved on to my own chapter the Hell fists, and now im onto an angles of vengance 1st company terminator army now so i can safely say i like my mariens more than any of the other army i own

there is a sizable chaos population on warseer, which im a member

so i voted chaos: in particular thousand sons

Greenskins all the way for me! I now play Nurgle as well, but my heart belongs to Gork. As for a specific klan, I would go DeathSkullz, but not for the rules, only the fluff (though multiple looted vehicles are great, having to use 2 squads of lootas hurts!)

Ultramarines for me. Gotta love'em...

Xander-K

currently Emperors Children although i'm not much of a fan of their character, background so i'll probably choose another cult legion, probably nurgle. But yeah chaos are l33t.

Blood Axe Orks- Low cunning, Brutality, and mimickry. I miss the days when the Blood Axes were the greatest of Ork clans that ruled over the others. Then the others got sick of it and overthrew them in the Big Party civil war. It is this emnity from the big party that carries over and makes Blood Axes untrustworthy, that and their strange ideas on tactics. What's not to love.

List wise- the two Kommando Squads as mandatory kinda sucks.

i'm currently using a Crimson Fist force. for sheer versatility you just can't beat marines.
i've done a tank company, a fast assault force, and currently a scout army.

Favourite army would have to be my ordo xenos force (daemonhunter inquisitors, stormies and dc assassins alongside a large deathwatch squad). Not very powerful in the grand scheme of things but very characterful...

DrDoom
09-12-2005, 22:33
AVE KAOS!!

Black Legion, for tactical flexibility, fun, and nasty surprises you can not beat the Legion.

But I have kind of a soft spot for Nurgle. I don't know why.

I voted Nids....they're my favorite at this point in time. They're an awesome army, very flexible, beautiful models(definately one of those "in the eye of the beholder" situations), and characterful background. It doesn't get any better than being a Nid.

HOW THE WARP DO YOU DARE MESHING ELDAR AND DARK ELDAR TOGETHER?!

IG for me, with the exception of my 1st army (BA, as the 2nd Ed IG codex hadn't been released back then), i have had a love for the masses fo infantry armed with nothing but flashlights and harsh language

10-12-2005, 03:28
I put a white dwarf army, but because I always like the smaller, more unique armies.

DE- my first army so I still love 'em
SM- nope
IG - what's not to like about Johnny Guardsman?
Nids - scary to face
orks - like the conversions
chaos - played chaos the most so I was going to choose them
eldar - meh

basically I started necrons when they were a 3rd edition WD list. I was going to start a kroot army a while back before taking a break but am working on something just as rare (see sig)

I like the idea of putting something that looks completely different on the field- something where my opponent has to stop and think, and re-address a strategy. Something where the other player says, "crap, I've never played them before"

Sisters of Battle/Witch Hunters

Mainly because they're more challenging to use then my Eldar and Marines.
The SoB/WH are also the smallest force in my collection at about 3k points.

Rhamag
10-12-2005, 07:26
I started with vanilla Marines (750pts), then tried Witch Hunters without Sisters (750pts) (Storm Troopers look cool but play poorly cf. SoB). Neither really grabbed my fancy, and so I became an Orky Warboss, and have never looked back. 'Ere we go, 'ere we go, 'ere we go!

vanilla space marines. 10 years ago my first true army was vanilla sm, and now on the verge of my 22nd birthday i still have a nice sm force. everything about them is elite, their armour, their skills, their options and armoury. plus they are a nice easy army to use, very forgiving.

generic sm for teh win :D

10-12-2005, 11:17
It's Imperial Guard for me. I think it's because it's the one army in 40K that actually looks and feels like an actual army. It's not made up of freaks or aliens in super flashy armour, it's got little fancy stuff, it's all pretty down to earth. The IG is the thousands of movie extras where the other armies are the CG scenes.

Plus there's a lot of variety in the IG. My favourite remain the Tallarn I started out with, but I like all the metal regiments. Hell, I like the Perry's rank and file models in general, be they 40K, Fantasy, LotR, historical or whatever.

TWB
10-12-2005, 13:14
Imperial Guard, the rules are easy to use the flexibility of the doctrine system is the true triumph of 40K, you can pick the army YOU want.

The amount of Regiments available is quite astounding, Cadian, Catachan, Mordian, Tallarn, Armageddon, Valhallan, Praetorians, Tanith (although there's not enough to produce any real army), Ellysians (Not technically GW but still worth including), Classic Metal Cadians (different enough to qualify as another regiment) etc etc.

I have a Cadian all plastic Army, Steel legion Mechanised Army and a small amount of Ellysians. I have plans for at least 2 more Guard Armies when I have the time and space.

Scythe
10-12-2005, 13:50
Tough one.. toss up between IG and Tyranids for me.

In the end, I voted for Tyranids... they were my first 40K love, and the new codex is pretty much amazing. Also, they are by far the largest army I have, and with almost 7000 pts classify as a real swarm. Guard (Cadian plastics, own home world) are a close second tough... Guess which movie I like? :D

Alot of Guard Fans, I wonder why no one like Necrons.

Great Harlequin
10-12-2005, 18:21
I voted for Eldar and I also wanted to vote for Necrons but I forgot. :(

The Eldar range is amongst the most spectacular and beautiful Games Workshop have ever released. They're also really exciting to play with as they aren't the most forgiving of armies, one mistake can cost you more than other armies.

The Necrons, why do I love them? Well, there's just something neat about seeing legion upon legion of robotic killing machines advancing across the fields of battle with weapons of destructive green fire! Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. ;)

All the bestest,

sigur
10-12-2005, 18:41
Wow, what an ambivalent post, Great Harlekin. While I couldn't agree more on your Eldar statements, I couldn't agree less on the Necrons.;)

Well, it's a matter of taste. My most beloved army is IG but I also really like SoB. By the way, I guessed right that IG is the most popular army on warseer. Do I get a prize? The 2nd place of Tau is just because when the new Codex comes out, everyone will be playing them. So it seems like the 2nd place is reserved for "shiney new stuff".:)

Imperial Guard.
As for which unit,...
I have a few Cadians, Valhallans, and Steel Legion Troops, but I prefer designing my own IG regiments. Converting the troops and vehicels, designing homewrolds, writing history for the units,...
Its stuff like that which I think makes the Imperial Guard great.

SeaCaptain

I like the Imperial Guard, probaly because of movies such as Star Ship Troopers, and Aliens. They also have some of the best stories from the black libary.

I think all the chapters are popular for a while. Especally when the new codex comes out. Like The DIY and codex Chapters where really popular for a while then the BT codex so that what everyone talks about.

Robot 2000
11-12-2005, 12:29
Imperial Guard, because there's potential for so much variety and influence from so much popular culture stuff from films and games. I personally like the near-future Aliens/Starship Troopers feel of the Cadians :)

Ronin Zero
11-12-2005, 12:39
Blood Angels.

But only as they appear in 2nd Edition... not the frothing, virtually-no-tactics berserker types they're painted as today.

I'm seriously thinking about using the Codex Marines list with a few traits to play my Blood Angels instead of the official list, I'm that disappointed in their 3rd-4th edition portrayal.

I'm surprised to see how many Guard players voted.

I can field 2 infantry companies, 1 armored company, 1 artillery company, and a mech infantry company. It adds up to about 12,000 points.

I use RT era Guard, Mordians, and Valhallens, along with all support troops.

neXus6
12-12-2005, 09:36
I'm another guard player.

Got enough Infantry for a 1500pt cadian infantry company (with a squad of praetorians) and enough tanks built for a 1500pt Armoured Company. Got another couple of tanks waiting to be built, and some sentinals that can go in either army.
As much as I like the metal models constraints on cash have meant that I started with plastic catachans (which I could probably get another 500pts out of but most of them are wrecked) then I replaced them with plastic Cadians. One day I'll get round to buying up metal models, probably Steel Legion, though I would love a Praetorian army. :)

In the past I've collected Eldar (twice), Tau, Chaos Space Marines (thrice - Slaaneshi, Nurgley, and Iron Warriors), and Daemonhunters.

But the army I always seem to keep coming back to, either to expand or (as I'm doing at the moment) 're-vamp', are my diy chapter Fire Storm Space Marines. Perhaps it's cause they're so easy to paint? Or perhaps I just like the fact that their story is of my own devising? But I just like doing them, and will carry on doing so.

Firewarriors,
Kroot, + hounds

Hammerheads
Drones.
