I realised that a unit os temple guards stays 89,4% (193/216) of the time, with thier stubborn, and if joined by a Slann, not even fear or terror can make them run.
But when that Slann makes them Re-Roll a failed break test, what the odds of breaking? I don't know the math for that one, but my best bet is to say 0,106*0,106 (since 0,106 is the chance of breaking, and the need to break twice) but that might be wrong. If it isn't then they stand a 1,124% chance of breaking... Is that about right? Thats 98,876% of holding against any combat (except if they are hit by a -Ld effect).

The Slann Mage Priest (with BSB) joined to a Temple Guard unit will nearly never break. They have a Stubborn, Cold-Blooded, re-rollable Leadership 9 and are Immune to Psychology, so you will not automatically break against a Fear or Terror causing enemy unit with a higher Unit Strength.

I think the odds are something like (11/216)*(11/216) = 0,26% (approximately)
In other words, they will break after a lost combat once in 385,6 times.

Edit: Yes, this is one hell of an Anvil unit.

Remember that the slann isn't stubborn, so you will still be taking the test on Ld 8 no matter what.

They'll never have more than Ld 8 during a Breaktest, and they will never take any panic, fear or terror, so the Ld 9 is almost useless for that unit (although works versus an banshee)...

Anywway, the chances of them passing their break test is 98.9%

Yea, but when you fail both rolls (Happened to me) you can lose a boat load of VPs.

Yeah, it happens, but I think in 6 years of playing lizardmen with that unit, I think they've broken from combat 2 or three times. Maybe. I can't actually remember a specific instance; every time I remember them fleeing has been from panic or voluntary flee (it does happen, though only vary rarely.)

And neither of these can happen while the slann is in the unit.

Maybe the Slaan died?

Maybe the Slaan died?

Well we can all hypothesize what actually "happened", but
we all know the over bloated toad died of a heart attack.

Why can't the Slaan and his unit flee? Remember, I'm talking about 6E Lizards. Obviously they're ItP now.

Because Emissary said so.

LoL, I was just trying to point it out for any new players out there. I can't tell you how many people I've seen that don't know that models ItP can't flee from a charge.

I fled all the time with my Empire spearmen when they had a priest with the "unbreakable" spell on them until someone pointed the same fact out. It was so easy to simply focus on the fact that "unbreakable" meant they didn't break from combat and forget that it meant they couldn't flee from charges either.

It is indivative of my luck that, the first time I fielded this unit, they failed their first break test from combat and were run down and destroyed.

Well you can always take that special character and make them unbreakable ;)

Or my favorite, just don't lose combats :p
