View Full Version : Does anyone know the source of this madness?

I mean three REAVER TITANS and two WARHOUNDS! That's mighty powerful and expensive right there.

The image is taken from the October 2008, Firebase Issue #8.

Personally I think he shouldn't have painted all the Reaver Titans in a "Mechwarrior" camoflouge scheme..
they're Titans man! Make them awesome, not bland!

Uhm, there are people who work, get lots of money, easily buy this junk.

Yes, the source is money. So helpful.

The title reads more like a company or group display rather than a game in progress.

I have two Warhounds and a Reaver, any problem with that?

I wouldn't say a 'problem', rather an opportunity that shall soon be taken advantage of. Just close your eyes for a few weeks while I attempt to discover your anonymous location.

Whoa! I didn't know Titan owners were so snooty.

For the "regular" people, any websites or other information?
Seems like a big investment for a rather rull display lacking any effects or casualties. (Not to mention the marines are deploying IN FRONT OF the Titans.)

It's a display from UK Games Day 2008 (though it has been there for at least 2 years previously IIRC) . It's a guy in the GCN's Space Wolves.

I never saw the point the the display personally as there are no enemies or anything and it strikes me as a "Fnarr! Look how big my army is!" kind of thing.

Having said that, I was there when a kid knocked one of the Reavers (yes, they were not glued at the hip joints!) Funniest, most disasterous thing I saw that day. :p

RedSarge

Grimtuff: Yeah, the display is honestly one of the lamest I've seen.
The Reaver must have had all the Wolves shouting, "TITAN FALL!". LOL

Now you know where that story about a Space Wolf Terminator being stepped on by a titan came from.

They just left out the part where the giant kid knocked the titan over.

My thanks go out to Imperius and Thylacine who have convinced me to stay away from 40k General for another year or so. My adventures outside the Fantasy forums are usually brief but memorable. Cheers.

PS. I remember when I was voted 40k General's MVP on Portent. Those were the days... ;)

Madness? THIS...IS...WARHAMMER!!! :D Sorry, couldn't resist.

I quite like the camo Titans, I thought a camo-themed Marine Chapter might look neat.

I've seen it done by a guy at the local GW. It looks amazing.

Yeah I saw the GCN tag at the top... there was a rumour that a Local (to me) GCN Club had so much money saved up from subs that they were seriously considering purchasing four Chaos warhounds (one per god) for club use, I thought this was something like that.

I've got some pics of this display from the last couple of times I was at GDUK, the models aren't what I would call "well painted", it's quite cool to see a lots of titans and hawks together but It would be amazing if they had better paint jobs.

I don't get what you're trying to say here. I don't recognize that colour scheme from any mechwarrior or battletech source?!?

And why would mechwarrior automatically mean bland, as you imply it does?

At the risk of being cynical, all this display says to me is: I have too much disposable income, and fell for the apocalypse marketting.

It's not like that many titans are actually useful for normal gaming, after all.

Hey thats a cool pic, this however is madness, granted it is a full gaming group not one pesons collection but still-

As for the wisecrack about painting them in battlemech schemes, obviously you have never visited cammo specs online to see the great variety of paint schemes used in the CBT univese....behold the mechwarrior 4 warhound titan. complete with hand painted merc unit icons

I don't find that the slightest bit funny. Infact, I find that horrifying. I had a small child try to stand up under the table my Reaver was standing on. Broken titans make baby Emperor cry.

That must of cost a lot! If only i could by all of that *sniff*
Still its pritty impressive the colour i agree is a bit dull but still it is set in the grimy world of the future. I just cant imagine a giant Pink titan. People would laugh... at first. Blue or orange/ red would of been nicer.

Oh, really (sorry had to) then bare witness to http://www.tacticalwargames.net/forums/index.cgi?act=ST;f=7;t=14237;

(I finally found it, after a lot of searching.)

I think the chances are he/she sprayed it with the intention of it being red, but it ended up pink! I've done that before (not on my Reaver though)!

Either that, or it's a sick, sick person!

The pics are from Dark Crusade, the biggest and best french Apocalypse tournament.

You can find more pictures from last year here:

http://www.hiboox.fr/go/albums/divers/dark-crusade-apocalypse-2008,7c1faccd3e9c48e8f9fa8b36e918bd84

By the way last year people fielded 4000pts armies, this year it will be 6000 :D

Now that is madness, people should have to pass a painting test before being able to buy a Titan :D.

I guess it was a "you had to be there" moment, as nothing untoward happened to the Reaver in question (it's weapon snapped off IIRC) but the look on the kid's face and the speed in which he scarpered were most amusing.

Awww, the Mechwarrior scheme titans. I was seriously debating painting my marines in a Mechwarrior-esque manner with Camo paint jobs. But after about 2 hours painting one model, I got bored, and decided I would wait until I could actually paint half decent before I attempted that.

I want that Mechwarrior titan though lol. Looks like a Masakari. :D
