Has there been anything official/rumored about when all the missing units will be released?
Was looking at an Elf force but they're missing quite a few models at the moment.

What kind of missing units are you talking about? Plastic armoured Galadhrim warriors and knights will be released around June, and most other Elven units (Rivendell Guard, etc) are just normal models whhom you designate as the specialist unit, no conversion or specialist models required.

Cave Drakes and Stone Giants are the only two I can think of off the top of my head, and no rumours for them as of yet, I believe.

He means units present in Lord of the Rings that are missing in War of the Ring.

specifically, Elf Cavalry and Chariots.

No word on those, nor on other 'missing in action' units such as Corsair Reavers.

We might see the additional elf units in the forthcoming elf book, assuming it covers both systems.

Actually I did mean those units in WotR that are missing models, sorry for the confusion.
That units that spring to mind, without the book on me, are the Elven cavalry and the Elven infantry with pikes.
Has it been officially announced as June for their release? I couldn't find anything on the GW site.

Some plastic High Elves would be good too ;)

June is on a presumptive release schedule given to shiny people in red shirts. Or at least, they used to wear red shirts here, don't any longer.

I didn't know Elves could have pikes, what unit is that?

And you have plastic High Elves, hush. :P

June is the release date for the Galadhrim given to me by Brian Nelson and co when asked at the Design Studio Open Day. :)

Other stuff will come with time-there's enough in there for a year or two's worth of releases.

Ok cool, cheers :)

They're not high elves. You'll never be able to field a high elf.

I'm never a fan of instances where a model can have a different title or profile (as with these Rivendell Guard) and not actually get some new models!

:wtf: There are several units in the book specifically listed as "High Elf/Elven"...

Are the Wildmen of Dunland still available? I was also unable to find Dunlending cavalry.

Its true- the wildmen were on the GW US website until this weekend- now they are gone...
Still on the Australian site however... I was considering using them for Men of Carn Dum.

What do you guys think the best proxy unit for Dunlending Cavalry would be? Riders of Rohan?

Dunlendings along with Mordor Uruk Hai are rumoured for plastics at some point.

On the Dunlending subject, while there are metal men of Dunland (both wild men and huscarls), and while the latter are still listed on the GW website, I don't believe there ever was a model for the Dunlending horsemen...

Anything in the rulebook without a photo is an upcoming release or a DIY project.

But the problem is, how do we know what will be an upcoming release [and how far away?] and what will be DIY?

I don't know that we do as GW hasn't said anything about most of these models. Even the new Elf plastic boxes haven't been announced have they?

Henerally GW is the last place to get news from, with Warseer being the first, or amongst the first to find out.

Maybe once the new releases this coming weekend are out the way, we may start to hear more things, although we may have a lull due to Imperial Guard quickly taking over.

Galadhrim are getting infantry and cavalry plastics in June, along with metal pikemen, Rumil and Haldir.

I doubt the Dunlendings would get plastics any time soon, or even new models, or even the continuation of existing models, because they really don't seem to be all that popular, purchasing wise.

I have a feeling that Dunlendings will fall into that grey area of:

- If there had been plastics, they would have sold like mad for WotR (cheap ambushers and reliable units of men for evil? Yes, please!)

- They were not so popular in SBG and, given that they are metal, to get a decent sized unit of them in WotR is pretty vicious (at 3 for 15, with one being an archer, on average, it's going to take me over 100 dollars to get two companies of foot warriors and one of archers... ouch)

- Thus, there might be the idea that they don't sell and won't sell, when the real issue is the classic problem of "don't make a good horde unit out of metal if you want it to sell".

For a similar situation, see Tyranid Gargoyles. Great unit, everyone knows it, almost nobody uses them because of the prohibitive cost.
