Well, im tired of starting new posts for every single thing i do, so im going to finally do just one, with everything in it, all the armies that im going to do starting from now!

My first army that I will be working on is my pre heresy era space wolves (because i can thats why lol). Here you will see a few converstions and greenstuffing attempts.

Eventually i want to increase my skill and speed at doing an army, so i can start doing commission armies instead of the occasional model as i do now.

So lets get started shall we?

First up in the space pup line is my blood claw assault marines!

First is my finished (but un based) blood claw with flamer

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p45/ellahoir/bloodclawassault2.jpg

Next is a blood claw with plasma pistol, still WIP though for this guy

Contiues on with next post......

......(continued)

Here is my wolf guard leader for this squad, he too is WIP

And may I just say that questions are welcomed and will be answered for anything about the items in this thread.

Let us know what y'all think now :D

Great work Khaine, I really like the final model, very pre-heresy looking. It looks like something right off the horus heresy artwork books.

It's great that you used those classic jump packs also, where did you source those from?

Very crisp highlighting as well, and a lovely sharp paint job. Will you dirty them up a bit though? Mud, or dust or some general weathering?

Looking forward to more.

cheers a lot, i scored the jump packs off a mate of mine, i got 15 for £15, and then the bits stopped getting sold on the GW bits catalouge lol, win for me

and i would like to weather them, but im not comfortable with my skills in it, i might mud up their feet area (if you know that i mean) but i still need practise doing battle damage

I think they look ace and im very envious of the old scool backpacks!

Re muddying them up... i actually like the crisp clean quality of the models as you have them!

Just my 5 cents!

based them as if they where on prospero, eventually i will be doing a pre heresy thousand sons to fight them

let us know if you think the bases are right of if more could be done to them, im tempted to put a few damaged/burnt books on some of their bases

well anyway, the pictures, here ya go

Great basing, very subtle but a great effect.

As to the weathering you can try various things from light dry brushing through to washes, or pigments.

I agree that the clean paint job is very nice though. It's totally up to you if you decide not to muddy them up.

its update time!

not much of an update, but atleast it is one, would be nice if more people left me feedback though lol

so here we have the last two members (for now) of my blood claw assault squad with a wolf guard leader, note that these have not yet been based, and when they are, i will do a group shot of them all, so let me know what yas all think please

cheers

I like these figures a lot. I don't think I'd have the patience to highlight the grey that way!

My only suggestion would be to add some static grass to the bases, or something? I think a little more colour in them, and perhaps some light washes over the armour to dirty it up, would help contrast model and base a bit more.

LordKhaine
12-04-2009, 21:08
okay then, its been awhile since an update, but i have one none the less

so ive been working on a few things lately, well, mainly random things

but i have been doing stuff for these guys, i now have a playable 2000pts (dot on!) pre heresy space wolf army list, some of my recent add ons to the list are a leman russ exterminator, rhino done a bit pre heresy style, long fangs, and blood claw KNIGHTS (oh yes, not a typo)

i am not going to say anything about the knights until i have some photos of them, which will be tomorrow night, the photo i have for you now, is my long fangs, let me know what you think, i love the pack leader myself, he has a combi bolter melta, even though they arnt allowed one, so im counting it as a melta gun for now, but i bet in the new 'dex he might be allowed one

so here is the picture for now

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p45/ellahoir/longfangsWIP1.jpg

LordKhaine
13-04-2009, 22:05
okay, another double post and another update, it would be nice to get some feedback guys, i really would, or are my stuff really THAT bad?

well, here is a WIP shot of my blood claw knights, still awaiting greenstuff to cover some stars and add furr here and there

im using these guys as bikes, but as this is more of a local gaming background army (i.e not tournement) to get over the whole twin-linked bolter issue, i just dont use them during a game

let us know what you think.....with hope

Your stuff is that bad... :D Nah, in all seriousness, you're doing a bang up job. Your long fangs look well made (with a little cleaning ;)), and the knights look wicked!

The space wolves look very meticulously painted and I imagine it's because they're on a general rather than sci-fi log that you get a lot of lurkers, but not alot of posters, because they are very good. Maybe practice getting the grey highlights finer, but apart from that, all looks fantastic. :)

14-04-2009, 18:26
Not too sure about the nurgle helmet but everything else looks ok. I especially like the Rambo lookalike with the multi melta.

LordKhaine
14-04-2009, 18:35
well, my army is finished with green stuff work for fur, now it all just needs to be painted, so im chuffed on that one, working on my blood claw knights and my iron priest (pics will follow) at the moment.

I do apologise for the dark picture of the iron father, but hopfully you can see the metallic grey army he has got, it looks better in person

I have only really done the armour on both of these guys, but it always helps you see how the model is going to shape up.

Im also curious on what colour should i paint the chainmail on the horses armour, as silver might make it look a bit too..tinny grey if you understand

Feedback is always welcomed and wanted!

woo, moving this to sci fi was a good idea, people actually comment on this one lol

btw, broke back mountain marines, haha i lol

well, when i planned on doing some painting i found i got myself distracted with space bits and the BONESAW

the main thing that has changed from heresy era to current era in looks i would personally say was the dreadnaught, so, i decided to convert myself one as a venerable dreadnaught to use as my second HQ choice, and, i shall just leave the pictures to tell you about it, i hope you like, i cant wait to paint it myself

Very nice models, keep up the good work. What model are you using for that wolf lord?

the wolf lord model is the master of the chapter with thunder hammer, thunder hammer cut away and replaced with a "shaven" chaos knight lance, head is the iron warriors one and the shield is from the master of the chapter one with power axe and storm shield

oh and of course back pack is space wolves generic lol

LordKhaine

okay another update, some lick of paint on yee old venny dreadnaught

it made a bit of an impact down the shop, but thats what i do like to do lol

im liking the way that this is heading and i cant wait to dive on it more and paint more

lol well, thank you for your kind words there, in answer to your question yes the horsemarines do get used as bikers, but for "fluff" reasons i have never used the twin linked bolters, no one has minded that fact, but i havnt used these in a tournement and i have a feeling that people wont let me:(

LordKhaine
17-04-2009, 02:02
well, after converting a bunch MORE models ive aquired ive now got an even BIGGER pre heresy army, so i thought as its a bit late to paint and i should be sleeping now ready for work, i would just do an army shot of everything so you have a brief glimps of whats to come

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p45/ellahoir/armyshot1.jpg

in my army i have the following

Wolf Lord
Wolf Priest
5 Wolf Guard Bodyguard (depending on the points one might be upgraded to battle leader)
Venerable Dreadnaught
5 Wolf Scouts
Iron Priest with 4 Thralls
2x 10 Blood Claws
2x 10 Grey Hunters
5 Blood Claw Knights
5 Blood Claw Assault marines
2x 5 Long Fangs

and Ive just noticed i forgot to put it in the picture but I also have a Leman Russ Exterminator (darn!)

so yeah, plenty to come

LordKhaine
20-04-2009, 10:27
well with a local tournement approaching in may and my hopes of having that day off work means that i have to get these bad boys (or atleast 15hundreds worth) fully based and painted.

So, my next update shall be the army list that i plan on using for this tournie and then hopfully the paint sall start to fly on!

Wish me luck

I'm not feeling it with the Dreadnought unfortunatley. The front Sarcophagus looks a little wonky and rushed to me and some of the Chaos stars (esp. on the legs) look like they've not been filed off suffieciently.

Rest of the stuff is good though.

I think it really looks pretty good, the only thing that troubles me (its a prehersy fluff thing:D) is the aquila, if I remeber only the Emperors children have all their troops wearing the imperial aquila. I may be wrong, and please correct me if I am. Other than that I think its spot on and actually like the mounted stuff (even though well...the bulk of a space marine will not be held by a horse:angel:)

LordKhaine

i am tempted to do some kind of metal on the armour, bronze might be the one i go for

and as for the kneeling guy it is

iron warrior head
iron warrior body
back pack
assault marine power weapon
veteran Mk1 bolt pistol arm with studs
command box kneeling legs
sculpted fur

pretty damn easy tbh, not so much of a conversion lol

update time

well ive been a bit distracted trying to get 24 of the new galadhrim elves painted for my local store, so my space wolves are taking a break, but what i have found is that with doing the elves ive been mixing lots of gold, so i thought while i wait for the apropriate washes to finish on the elves, al paint the rest of my sisters of silence

so here is a WIP shot and when these bad boys.....ooops mean girls!... get finished, i will be taking the pups for a walk again!

Using Dark Eldar as sisters is a fantastic idea, and works really well. I'd be careful though, as some of those Dark Eldar heads are quite masculine, and might not suit(perhaps if you can mould Esher-esque hair onto them?).

are that wolf lord and iron priest conversions? If so, what did you make them out of?

thank you for the kind words

@bob' - yes both are conversions

wolf lord is made from space marine master of the fleet, with a shaven chaos knights spear and an iron warriors helmet

iron priest is made from techmarine, chaos knight shoulder pads on space marine ones, berzerker plasma pistol, and chaos knight hand weapon

and speaking of the iron priest here are the pictures of him finished (will work on brighter pictures soon)

Nice work on the wolf lord. I agree with you on the masters, and I think the master of the fleet model is one of the best marines GW has put out. You really did it justice with with conversion and the painting.

And your space wolves are wonderful! Heavy and imposing, a far cry from the flamboyant space vikings that usually show up. I can't wait to see the army finished, The asethetics really resonate.

i will do some more tidying up when he is 100% dry proberbly tomorrow night/day and then i will get onto painting this bad puppy! (literally)

so please take in mind that im a begginner green stuffer/sculpter, and let me know what you think of my latest addition, thank you!! ;)

Really love the weathered yellow on the shoulders and knees, too, by the way. I know the helmets probably took way more effort (and they look good, believe me) but the shoulder pads are my favorite. They look great!

I think he looks fine for Russ a little bit of practise and your have him perfect.

What tools are you using to scuplt with? I dont claim to be a expert but following some advice I saw on here I brought some Clay/Paint Shapers and they are really great tools.

You can find brown stuff on lots of online model shops. I cant remember the name of the place I got mine from but a quick search on google and your bound to find some.

Its really great because you can file it after so any imperfections you can remove which is always handy.

Thanks

NO. It's awesome - I really like the fact he's not dripping with skulls and pelts and armour detail. I know W40K supposed to have the whole gothic thing going on, but it's just too much a lot of the time. Your version looks savage, without overdoing the imagery.

and yeah, when im done, and fully painted i should have about a 20,000 points crusade army, including 18 different legions, sisters of silence & custodians, and imperial army!

after that i will take them down to my local store and have a full day apocolypse game against all the ork players, but not using big stompas, or bane blade, or titans, just a REALLY big 40k game

thanks for the nice words, well ive just done 18 lists for all the legions and i feel so proud of myself that each one is dot on 1,000 points, looking back at them now ive done some dirty stuff lol, like a salamander army with a count as he'stan and a vanguard squad of 5 that has 10 thunder hammers! lol

right, update time

only had a small amount of time today to do some painting as the girlfriend had me run into town to buy clothes and stuff for her as we are away this weekend, loosing valuable painting time lol

so i thought i would try and do the yellow armour on the imperial fist captain

the captains name is "Alexis Polux" and congratulations to anyone who may know who that is!

well here are the pictures, now i know the white highlight seems to stand out a lot, but in my defence it is a really bright day and in person it doesnt stand out that much at all, you have to believe me on that one lol, well, here are the images

update on my imperial fist captain

as i didnt get many replys and the next picture will give him away, ive based him on Alexis Polux, he was the first chapter master of the crimson fists

so this is him when he was still an imperial fist, but i decided to still give him a red fist because, i dont know, i just wanted to, to give a link

he also has a new formula i have for painting flesh, hope you like

as i dont have enough space on this post, while painting my imperial fist, i decided to toy with a iron warrior techmarine, ironic how these are sworn enemies. So i will do another post with him on it :chrome:

LordKhaine
23-07-2009, 16:54
As I said, here is the iron warrior, which slightly reminds me of the Borg haha

this guy is actually finished, part from his base, really easy to paint but really effective, i can see when i get round to this army it will be a fun

well here is a picture of the techmarine

The yellow looks great well done. Will you be doing more?

I like the Power fist being Red it gives a nice hint to what he becomes. Which is the same reason some of my Fists have the Templar cross.

The Iron Warrior is nice aswell. If I did a chaod army I would probably do them. But luckily my mate has a army of them.

LordKhaine

in answer to you shaw, yes, there will be more fists, and thank you for your nice words :D

Liking the Fist mate. Though the Iron Warrior takes the biscuit, hes brilliant. Will you be doing a World Eater?

23-07-2009, 20:25
Hmmmm, I love your stuff dude... if possible could you tell me where you got those custodians? Im considering starting a PH Thousand Sons army next year and would like some custodians for multiple purposes...

love the Borg style Iron Warrior, great idea.

ever thought of doing some pre-heresy xenos ? iv always wanted to see someone do that. Its not like you dont have the talent and imagination for it either :D

23-07-2009, 23:21
So pretty. I like the yellow. How did you do it?

LordKhaine
29-07-2009, 11:29
@TimLeeson - yes i have thought about doing my own xenos, and dont be worried, as i also will be doing that in time, first off i want to get my imperium sorted out, then i will be going through most of the codexies and thinking of what xenos i could do :)

@Donuter, the armour is simply, drybrush beastil brown, mix up to iyandun darksun, mix up to extreme highlight of white, watered down sepia wash, so easy

@Shadow' - I do have a World Eater, and when i get time, i will post a picture of his WIP

thank you all for your nice words, should get some images up before the end of the day, but as for now im sorting out some of my models and putting them on ebay

LordKhaine
29-07-2009, 16:48
okay, i promised pictures, so the first one is going to be a WIP of a World Eater
(for you shadow)

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p45/ellahoir/WEcaptainWIP1.jpg

next is the imperial fists Alexis Polux, he himself is complete, i just need to do his back banner, hope you like him

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p45/ellahoir/captainWIP9.jpg

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p45/ellahoir/captainWIP10.jpg

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p45/ellahoir/captainWIP11.jpg

right, and more stuff coming up will involve a white scar on a bike and possibly some imperial army and more sisters of silence

comments back would be nice lol

yeah, i think he will be changed when i get onto them, i plan on using just khorne bezerker bits and converting them to look pre heresy, that will be all the choppy action i think :P lol

I'm not a fan of using those bits really. I use the blood claw kits. Easily converted - with the use of a saw *cakles*

LordKhaine

i suppose shadow i might use them bits and get some iron warrior bodies and heads for them, that way they would look like the rest of the models i have planned, hmmmm, but what about chain axes? o.O

02-09-2009, 15:03
well, its been awhile but i have reasons

first off, didnt get the job in GW, but you know, im not that heart broken, yeah great job oppertunity, but i still got my hobby so im still happy

right this is whats been going on lately

im planning on closing this log and starting a new one with what this log has actually became

my mission is a 20,000 (yes TWENTY THOUSAND) apocolypse army consisting of 20 one thousand point armies,

this will be the 18 legions, imperial army and then custodians & sisters of silence in one

so far i have got the 1,000 pts space wolves and just need to finish converting some sisters for the other army, so thats 2,000 pts already not bad

now the dilema, i have just recently moved into my first house with my fiancee, so my hobby is now out of order for the mean time, and the computer is at my fathers, so updates are going to be slim, but im still going to have them

so everyone look out for my log starting soon!!

and PS. I have a new gaming room in my house with display cabnet, so there will be pictures of that too!!

LordKhaine
03-09-2009, 16:16
well, i havnt given myself a time limit, i think i done this because if not i will be starting on and off armies all the time, and i want to stop that, i want a project close to my heart and, well... obsession, and thats the horus heresy, so this just makes sense

im going to try and organize an apocolypse game in my local store when they are done against orks, but no big tanks or titans in it, so a really big game!

alexh
03-09-2009, 21:43
I'll be up for that Ben, I should have about 10000 points of Orks by then, only 7500 to go before I get there.

Bladelord
14-11-2009, 00:36
why thank you WSE

im starting to think he looks a bit to bland for leman russ though :/

am i thinking right or just being very self doubting?
No. He's fine. Or rather, your Russ is fine. I'd probably do every Primarch über-over-the-top - even more than Blanche succeeded with - but "plainer" versions have such a nice visual effect, too. And they balance things out, gives variant perspectives etcetera. Very great Russ. Any plans for his two black wolves (whatever they're called)?

A great sculpt. You must return to him in a few years, after sculpting skills have improved. He's - to use a modern term - kick-ass.

Those IP-breaking miniatures are really, really sweet. The best with Russia is that you're not even trying if people can find out where you are.

Otherwise, enormously great stuff. Iron Warriors, World Eaters (the last one's gore is a bit odd, might be the photos - but Pre-Heresy World Eaters are always hard to balance), Imperial Fists; all. Pre-Heresy shall always be cheered upon. :)

like the leman russ you've done the use of a bloodletters sword is quite clever and effective I also like the characters you've done they have great poses as for the custodians have you fully painted one yet?

p.s. I know you've already been flogged with people asking you this but do you mind pm'ing the link to those custodians please?
