I left my new book round a friends (:() cann anyone tell me the cost for this army? I have a feeling Glorfindel is 250 pts.

24 High Elf Warriors - 16 with swords, 8 with spears and shields.
16 High Elf Bowmen
Glorfindel
12 Elf Horsemen (I've forgotten their name.)
Gil-galad
Legolas

Any ideas?

Altogether its 1340 points. However i should note that High Elf warriors cannot be given shields, and the spear and shield armed version now come under the header of High Elf Cohorts so i took into account the extra 5 pts that they cost. You could easily boost this force to a round 1500 by upgrading a couple of formations to have captains.

Awesome. Would this be a pretty balanced army then? I'm thinking of sticking Gil-galad with the warriors, and leg less with the archers.

16 High Elf Warriors - Captain and Banner
16 High Elf Bowmen
8 High Elf Cohort - Captain and Banner
Glorfindel
Galadhrim Knights - Captain and Banner
Gil-galad
Legolas

That's around 1500 now right?

That list is just under 1600 points. The only problems i can see with it is the formations are rather small, so if you get charged its going to be painful. I'd maybe drop a character in favour of a few more companies of warriors/cohorts

Ditch Legolas or Gil-galad. I suppose the problem with elfy armies is they do have a low model count.

Does this seem better?

Yeah, there is less chance of a round of shooting wiping out your formations now that you bulked them out. 1 company formations in my experience are usually a bad idea. It also gives the army a bit more of a theme by not having an anachronistic Legolas in the list too.

Awesome. Oh, can Glorfindel go into my knights? I have a feeling no, as he's a monstrous creature.

Search your feelings. You know them to be true.

Ahem.

No, Glorfindel can't join your Knights, or anything else. He's a Legendary Formation, not an Epic Hero.

Damn. I suppose I cannot give him Mithril Coat then?

Nope. If you want to bump up the points to 2000 or so, beef up the Cohort and put Erestor in there - voila, you now have Rivendell Guard.

Captain Shrike

I can't. Aren't they Legendary?

Spider-pope

Erestor is included in the cost of the Rivendell Guard's first company, he's part of the legendary formation.

No, but Glorfy is legendary too...

No, but Glorfy is legendary too...

Glorfindel is a Monster. That's why he can't have the Mithril Coat fortune. Erestor is a Hero. He can.

No, you can't have 2 leg formations. in an army.

Sure you can, there is no upper limit on Legendary Formations. You just can't take the same one twice.

Hell, you could have only one Common formation and spend the rest of your points for various Legendary formations, as you don't even need a Common formation for Legendary formation that you take.

Really? Cool. Rivendell Guard here we come!
