No, Chaos don't get Drop Pods.

Forge World make the Dreadclaw which is similar.

They don't have Drop Pods to make them different to Marines.

They pop up in the background and novels, but there are no rules for them to help give Marines and Chaos Marines separate identities.

Dreadclaws are inhabited by an AI (which predictably turned evil, and thus the Marine Legion's Dreadclaws were dumped into the Eye of Terror ). They're capeable of taking off again after landing.

Hee, hee, I didn't post in that thread, mainly due to the sheer apocalyptic levels of bile and vitriol that would have swamped warseer!

I suppose it's worth mentioning that dreadclaws are capable of ship to ship boarding, unlike Standard SM drop pods. It doesn't really affect rules etc but it's an interesting fact for you.

Dreadclaws do the same job don't they? i.e deepstrike units of marines?

Forgeworld has it's own rules for Dreadclaws. Biggest difference between a Dreadclaw and standard marine drop pod is that the Claw can take off again (it's a flyer), while the drop pod is a one-way ride.

Chaos should be able to use them. What kills me in the latest codex, under the picture of the Steel Brethren and I quote "Extensive use of transports and drop pods". I hope nobody tries to make a fluffy Steel Brethren army.

The idea is that what chaos dont have, they make up for with daemonic alternatives. Like Obliterators and daemon weapon. Though naturally they dont compensate for all SM options, nobody's allowed to be that good. ;)

A mate of mine has made a fluffy Steel breathren army which includes 3 drop pods.

Personally I just make dreadclaws out of drop pods

Exactly. Recipe is simple. Drop pod + teeth = Dreadclaw

I have never understood the rules for the Dreadclaw. I have the FW Siege of Vraks pt.2, but every time I try and get my head round them I get a headache and have to have a lie down . Maybe I'm just a simpleton.

its a drop pod that can droop its troops, take off, fly over to another squad and lift them up

use it to ferry troops around

remember that prior to apocalypse, Flyer rules were very complicated. the drop pod rules added even more to it.

Imperial Armor Apocalypse has updated rules for it, it's treated as a normal flyer now using the simpler apoc flyer rules.

Thanks Alessander, makes me feel a lot less simple :)
