I've noticed that dwarves manning the ballista have a shoot value of 4+. Does this mean that the ballista can shoot 4 times a turn (3 crewman + 1 accuracy bonus of 4+)?

Thanks

From what I have read the Dwarf Ballista uses it's own chart, and a single D6 is rolled per ballista company.

Note that their are some - and + applied to the dice, which all depend on the Company size of the target.

i thought that all the dice are added together as the chart goes up to 7+
So if you had 3 warmachines in a formation they would all just fire once but you would roll 3 dice and get a monster result!

The charts go beyond 6 due to benefits for attacking formations made from large companies.

But one of the charts is 15+
So you don't add the die together? each warmachine rolls its die and adds any shooting modifiers, then move onto the next one?

15+ are you sure, I've just checked my copy and none of the charts go that high, 7+ yes.

You're thinking the various 'hard to kill charts'. You roll one these after causing the hits.

Each artillery piece rolls one die, and compares it to their artillery chart. You get +1 for shooting at a formation four companies or larger, or +2 if the formation target is eight or larger. You suffer -1 if the target is a single model or company.

A natural one always stays the same.

No artillery chart goes past 7+.

You get the +1 for formations with MORE than 4 companies and +2 for MORE than 8 companies. At least thats what my german copy says...

Your German copy is correct.

Each artillery piece rolls sepearatly and applies their result to the chart. The bonuses come from the target size, and if they are in a defendable area.
