I'm entering a mini-tournament in a few weeks and I feel I need a new take on the list. I tried going cavalry heavy and/or magic heavy, but I feel both approaches are too much hit or miss. If your opponents have the tools (warmachines/handguns vs knights for example) you're toast, otherwise its kind of too easy.

So here is my idea: A lone scroll-caddy and his retinue!

The ideas is to let the soldiers do the fighting and upping the body count by going light on characters. This should make the army more durable when facing warmachines/magic. Games are won by having too many manouevering elements for the opponent to handle.

This is my first list featuring the scroll-caddie-general and I'm still toying with the idea, so any feed-back from "Don't do it man!" to "Add some Chaos Warriors!" is welcome! :)

Heroes:

Scroll caddie on Chaos Steed. 2 x dispell scrolls.

Core:

25 marauders (la, sh) + full command, mk of slaan
25 marauders (la, sh) + full command, mk of slaan

5 marauder horse, flail, mus, mk of slaan
5 marauder horse, flail, mus, mk of slaan
5 marauder horse, flail, mus, mk of slaan

5 warhounds
5 warhounds
5 warhounds

Special:

5 knights, std, mk of slaan
5 knights, std, mk of slaan

Rare

9 DoW duellusts, x-tra hw, std (legal?)

That's about 1400pts used so far.

Basic tactics:

Warhounds and Marauder Horse are deployed first too get main units in favourable positions. Marauders deploy centrally facing enemies they can take on.

Marauders + warhound diverters + duellist screen/flyer hunter tie up opponents centre.

Knights gallop up one or both flanks supported by fast cav.

If one flank is refused it is defended by sacrificing some of the cheap units.
