Just got my new Valkyries (yes, that's plural) and opened them up to start work. I'm going to log it here, you can see the interior below, I'm going to paint it seperately from the rest then finish building and paint the exterior.

Awesome, I would pick some of those up if I played guard. They just look so cool.

Looking forward to seeing more!

Nice, I was going to pick a few up until I realised I had no money. Nearly picked them up anyway...

It'll be interesting to see how they go together. What regiment will you be using them for?

I started painting my Valkyrie today as well and i recommend, if you want to paint the interior, to do it as shown above. But its a quite nicht one, much better imho then the ones From SM Rhino or the Tau Devilfish.

Another Reminder: I am quite surprised that GW did not pointed this out, but if you want to use the Heavy Bolters as options you shoult glue them togehter as Gunner, Bolter an der rotational thing BUT do not glue thiswith the movable frame. So you can move the Bolter around in the open door and remove it if you don't intend to use it. An nice Detail imho, as it is with the rest of the model...

They are going to be going with a small kreig siege list, but as I have quite an extesive guard collection I am going to paint the in navy colors so I can use them with any of the armies I have. That and i think they will stand out more that way.

Any chance you could stick a couple of guardsmen inside and near the door. I'll be getting mine soon and I wanted to know how much space I have to work interior passenger wise.

(if you look at the Vanquisher in my log you'll get an idea of what I'm wanting to do)

Otherwise, nice to see a valk being painted in sections.

Brilliant that Is exactly the angle I've been after, can actually see the size of the doorway without the wings and HB in the way, and I'm a happy chap because it looks like theres enough room to pull off the conversion I'm after.

The interior is really starting to look nice, I'll definately be hanging around to see how it turns out in the end.. and possibly bug you for more in construction shots.

I like the wear and tear. A quick walkthrough of it would be nice.

Quick walk though is primed white, airbrushed kammando khaki and worked back up to a white highlight, sponged chardinte granite where I wanted the wear to be. I added a light amount of black and brown oils to a few crevases and areas where grease would build up.

Just on the talk of fitting extra guardsmen inside - why not use the forgeworld gorgon infantry to line the walls in much the same way as they would in a gorgon tank.
Can't wait to see how these turn out. I want one (ok, a few) quite badly, but they are almost a hundred bucks a pop here in australia. Sooner or later i'll make another order from Maelstrom.

Looks great so far, but I really don't see the point of the chains(or ropes?) for the rear door/ramp. Most aircraft with similar ramps don't need such chains for closing.

I like the chains on the rear ramp, it looks cool and has the added benefit of holding the ramp at a decent position to place models getting ready to jump.

@Cherub, I assume you've permanently attached the weapons?

Cherub
04-06-2009, 20:42
yes they are permantly there, except for the heavy bolters inside. The rope is there as I think it looks cool, and I really dont like how the ramp looks open hanging down so hence the rope.

Since I now have some time off work I'll see if i can fight the wife for the camera and retake the pics.

Well, if it makes the models look cool. I have the resin Valkyries, and I know for a fact that the ramps can be pretty lose. I thought the plastic version would have a tighter fit.

Slight OT question but, does the plastic valkyrie come with a new decal sheet?
