I've been wondering something for a while..
Wouldn't it be great if you could calculate the army ratio's?

So because of that i've just wanted to see... in the poll please select your main army/armes you can choose more than one if you've got more than one...

Lets see which comes out one top

:- Ok i just thought i should add what i am going to do/what the point of this thread is, i want to get as many votes down as possible cos when the end date comes, or when everyone stops posting for more than 5 days, i will calculate the ratio of the armies and post them on the bottom of the site, allowing people to see the more played armies and the least...with that info you can do with as you like.... -:

I am sure they will, mostly because many people have a marine army in addition to anything else.

Personally I am keen to see who is getting the least love.
My money is on Necrons.

I dont think you should have made chaos marines and daemons a single choice, they are completely different armies.

Also my armies are Orks, Tyranids and Eldar.

Cadians and 13th Company are my two main armies.

The Cadians are at about 2600, or with Apoc stuff 4500, I intend to make this army slowly larger.

13th Company is 2k, and as big as I want it to get.

I've been planning for Planetstrike and figure that my Cadians are perfect for defense and well, the 13th hit planets pretty nicely :)

i would have but the poll only allows for 10 choice's, if i could i would have put witch hunters and daemon hunters in also... along with a few ones but allas tis already done...
so i thought this was the most effective way of doin it with a 10 choice limit

Marines will be on top with maybe some contest from Chaos. As for the lowest, my bet is on Necrons. I would have said Dark Eldar but with the new codex supposedly coming out soonish there might be a rise in collecting.

Necrons, Imperial Guard and Tau.

Those are my armies.

I love them equally. But my Tau are Shelfed until they become a real army again.

So how are tau any less of an army than necrons?

I voted dark eldar, chaos/dameons (wish they were sperate, but it works because I play both), guard and other. Other being sisters and kroot.

Erm lets see Space Marines, Eldar are my main armys (about 5K each) BUT other is 1000 pts of ][ (by that I mean WH & DH with stormtroopers as troops) 1K of GKs and 2K of SoB

FraustyTheSnowman: cause Tau can't win to save their lives?

0-5 with Tau since I started playing 5e.

Crons 3W 2L 1D.

If the local metagame is all about Shooting Gunlines Crons are still quite viable. Where as the Tau really aren't, and do even worse against assault armies.

They have the same chance as everyone else at winning, its tactics and army constuction with a hint of luck...

Captain Micha
01-05-2009, 16:13
Sure. and Orks aren't capable of winning on accident.

The game is not balanced. Not all Codexes are equal.

(Compare Old IG to new IG to cite an example)

Balance-keeper
01-05-2009, 16:17
What i'm saying is if you've got the tactics for your army list down... and have factored in all the varibles... you have a good chance of winning...

I've seen vetern gamers lose to n00bs cos they wern't thinking about their tactics where as the n00b was.

The tabletop game is a stragy game after all

Captain Micha
01-05-2009, 16:22
Nah, if you are playing Mech Tau, and your opponent is Mech Eldar, there's not a whole lot you can do. You are outmaneuvered and usually speaking out shot in the shooting phase, and most certainly out assaulted.

Assuming your opponent isn't a tactical *****, that you don't vastly out skill in the first place Tau have a very hard time of winning right now.

But anyway.

At one point I was pondering a serious BT force. decided against going more serious with it though because of how awesome the guard are fluff wise. I imagine Space Marines will win this poll. Followed up by the -two- chaos armies (that are one choice in the poll).

Crons will be second to last. Dark Eldar will be dead last in this poll.

The SkaerKrow

For me it's Blood Angels (Space Marines) and Dark Eldar as my actual armies, with Tyranids, Orks and Necrons laying in wait (to be finished or sold, as I see fit).

Balance-keeper
01-05-2009, 16:27
Well their i have to agree but, its not impossible for the tau to win (and not of a fluke, or retarded opponent)

But thats just one tau army Vs one Army thats had more time to get perfected at such things. the only point i was trying to make was that is you have a good tactical mind then their are many more chance of victory than people preceive.. that all

I just have Tau, but then, I just started.

I do have AoBR SM Tacs, Dread, and commander, but I'm not counting them until I actually assemble them.

SMs have an advantage because they have the most books: C: SM, C: BT, C: DA, C: SW, C: BA, & C: DH (Grey Knights are technically Space Marines), if they didn't already have a spot, C:CSM would be in there, too.

Not to mention, Space Marines are just a plain good army to start with. Main reason I didn't start with them (or Orks) is that there are just so many locally.

Well space marines and Chaos space marines are leading the poll, but honestly I think with the changes so far in 5th edition (especially the commonality of cover saves reducing the need for power armor) we will probably see more and more people begin collecting non-marine armies.

Marines of some flavor will always be GW's biggest seller, but the game will be better off if GW starts working to market the other armies - and GW's sales will go up as marine players start building army #2 or #3.

FraustyTheSnowman: cause Tau can't win to save their lives?

0-5 with Tau since I started playing 5e.

Suggestion, you should really look at your Army Composition in that case, my Tau are a hearty 6-2 in 5e, beating all sorts of foes. New Marines, Footslogging Eldar, Mech Eldar, Imperial Guard (Old), and Chaos.

I play Imperial Guard (main) and Tau. I like shooty armies, and these two rock!

My new Guard is sick, I've got so much stuff in 1850.

01-05-2009, 17:57
Demons and Space Marines.
About 2500 of each...

Also I expect to see the metagame agaisnt marines to begin to wane-with more guard and orks becoming viable I expect to see people speccing anti-marine to start to lose-which is a good thing.

Make my marines more viable!

Eldar, Tyranids and Space Marines.

But I have more Eldar than the other two combined... maybe twice over.

I have a splattering of Inquisition, but those are mostly allies for my Marines. I may start Guard sometime, but I won't be using many of GWs model line but probably WW2 Historical minis or something similar.

EDIT: For the interest of anyone who wants to know the breakdown between the loyalist Marine codices, I made a poll: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=194907

At my local club all the Marine players also have IG (and have for years, nothing to do with the new codex), and a few non-Marine players have IG too. I play both, but have a lot more IG than Marines (around 13,000pts and 9,000pts respectively). But you're right, there will be a lot of new IG players now the new codex is out.

The first army that I started at age 12 (obiviously) were the Tau (I has charmed by the Commander suit and by the Broadside).
My second army is the Armoured Company by IA I started the last year.
My third are the Orks that I have still started (when the new codex was released).
And my last army are the DKoK, that I started at Christmas.

All of these armies aren't complete.
