Look for indie stores that still have some old stuff in stock?

AFAIK it got discontinued about two years ago already.

That would be suprising if they made a new Batallion for the Empire. There really wasn't anything wrong with the old batallion.

There is a new empire battalion out on the 20th June. Not sure about it's contents though.

Oh Jeez, I haven't heard anything about this. It's gotta have some of the new plastic stuff, otherwise there'd be no reason to repackage it.

I'd bet money it would have the new archers in it. Anyways I'm after the old one :)

I have a lot of those empire from that edition. Looks like I'll have to hold on to them for a bit longer maybe. :P

There was nothing wrong with it from a customer perspective. It was a good value.

Thus it was a problem for GW. The value needed to be removed. The new box will be 48 peices. The cannon and Outriders been removed. The archers might be included. Goldswords are extremely doubtful.

Yet another Empire batallion set coming out? That would be the 4th one in a decade (5th if you also include the reinforcement batallion).

Anyone know when we can expect to find out what the contents are?

It wouldnt surprise me to see a small group of Greatswords in the new Battalion since they are coming out with plastics for them.

How old is this?

Either the old (6th edition) Starter box or Battalion box had 16 old 1-piece spearmen + 3 command, 16 handgunners, maybe 8 knights and a cannon. I think you also got a horse and the command sprue had legs that allowed you to make a captain too.

Is it that one you mean?

This is the 7th Ed one that was released with the new book.

That would have been the first 6th edition battalion - they later released another one that replaced the spearmen and handgunners with 20 swordmen/halberdiers, 3 model command sprue and 8 free company.

The new Empire Battalion is up on the GW advanced orders section. The contents are listed as:

"This box set contains 48 multi-part plastic models, including: 20 Empire State Troops, 10 Empire Handgunners, 10 Empire Greatswords and eight Empire Knights. Models supplied with 20mm square and 25 x 50mm bases respectively."

Thanks for the info Harvey. I would have bet that it would have contained greatswords, but no archers? And knights? Maybe they're trying to sell off all the knights...weird :eyebrows:

Yeah it seems weird the g.swords but not the archers. It makes the battalion good value for money though doesnt it?

25 goldswords
15 x 2 = state troops = 30
so you get the handgunners and knights free.

P.S thankfully no one took me up on the bet it would have archers in it ;)

Perhaps the high price of the greatswords on their own is a cunning plan to sell a ton of the new battalion boxes?

More importantly, it at least contains enough of the state troops to actually make a decent sized unit - one of the bigger complaints with the current battalion is that you have only been getting 10 state troops.

It might work, griefbringer, I may buy the new empire battalion box :o The last one having only 10 state troops wasnt great but it gave you a good grounding of specials :)
