Hi, for my birthday i recently got the tyranid assault brood (x2 battleforce+1 extra fex.) And with all those lovley fex kits i couldn't help but tinker a bit. About 5 min ago wile i was tinkering with 'turning' fex poses (it adds hight and looks cooler then the dull, forward pose of all the fexes out there,) i tried putting the body on the other way around.

This resulted in massive hight bonus and loss of bulk, which got me thinking. If you clipped/filed away the back it of the fex back (below the last, small tube/spire thing) so the head would fit properly, do you think it would be able to pass as a hive tyrant? I think (with a bit of cutting) it would look really good. It is also cost effective as your 'hive tyrant' has a better range of biomorphs to choose from (and i can't remember if the Hive Tyrant being metal, went up and is a good spin on a 'fex kit. As soon as possible i will get ANOTHER fex kit (so i can do this) and see how it goes.

They can look quite good.

Google for Hive Fleet Orborous (spelling may be a bit off)

Wow how big is that compared to a normal tyrant? It looks huge :O

Well, two opposite comments. Maybe i will blue-tack it and see how it goes?

Well, it was two when i first posted this (due to way too many tabs <_<)

Also, that Hive Tyrant looks great, hope mine looks half as good. But do you know how me got it to stand so... upright? did he just tilt it up more or somehting? or is it just an older model? Or did me *gasp, worry, dread* use green stuff? Or could you just get your friend to help me? lol, that sounds so strange

Man, that thing looks awesome. I'd relish to have it on the same battlefield.

Nice. Cool conversion but I still think it is hard to beat the HT for looks.

Yeah, it is very cool, and a bit bigger than a normal Hive Tyrant I think. It's creator posts on Warseer, I'll point him in the direction of this thread to field any questions. ;)

I toyed with the idea when I bought my second battleforce, but ultimately thought it looked too out of place, not bulky enough for it's height. Of course, now the tyrant I bought has wings that double the height of the model, but that's besides the point. ;)

I did it for my Flyrant, with some GS armour plating added to hide joins, was very pleased with the result.

Keep in mind the forthcoming supposedly-definite-but-not-officially-announced plastic Trygon - that combined with some Fex bits may well make a great Tyrant.

Yay for all-plastic Nid armies! :)

A friend of mine did something similar. He started Nids recently and he wanted to do it all-plastic. This way he could get away just buying battleforces. For his tyrant he just took a carnifex, had it standing more upright, thew in some green stuff and you got a plastic tyrant. He even modeled it with two heads to serve as enhanced senses.
