Anyone know of any good mechanical wings that will fit on a standard 28mm trooper? I know of macro art's very nice ones, but am trying to see all the choices before buying

Yes they do.

I've got a set myself. They're a little thin so you've got to be careful with them but otherwise they're a good cast.

The Urban Wars wings may not look right with 40k although the Triad ones aren't too far off: http://www.waylandgames.co.uk/urban-mammoth/urban-war/triads/dragonfly-veterans-2-figures-of-2-different-designs-/prod_5142.html

If as I suspect you are talking about wings for an Imperial Guard trooper and not Eldar, I think Chaos Possessed Space Marine wings are the closest match but they would need a lot of scraping and reshaping to get rid of their organic appearance. It depends how many you need I guess; maybe you could make a single master and use a resin mold kit to reproduce them.

Thanks for the links everyone

The wings are actually for necrons, I decided I want to combine my angels and my necrons ideas into one army (because mechanical angels sounds awsome, and because I prefered necron play style to most others), so they'd need to be very meck

Overall I'm not a great fan of the futuristic sleak look to the urban wars/mammoth stuff, and the encouraging post from. If not for metal feathers, I'd look for just the outlines, sort of like this, but in metal (1st pic from google I found):

Any ideas?

(I could have sworn anima tactics did a model with some, but I couldn't find any...)

EDIT: This sort of style is also quite cool, and would be much easier to make out of plasticard (keeping the lines straight would help a lot)

(Jees, theres a cosplayer for everything nowadays)

No, I mentioned them, the one post that doesn't is #2 (Spyrer wings Necromunda).
Sorry for the links, but they worked when I posted them (I always doublecheck!), the website had problems and is currently offline.

Here the Anima Tactics mini you probably meant:

Easier to browse these here http://www.battlefield-berlin.de/shop/index.php?list=WG992 than on the FFG website.

Those are prety cool, but looking at the price tag, I'd guess he's not the right scale (he's 3x the cost of most other models!)

VOID is the predecessor of Urban Mammoth. The text "Urban Mammoth Ltd" might have given you the idea. Most of them have been reissued there.

wow, those look terrible.

But then again, most non GW or PP ones do look pretty bad.

Yep I know that, I have quite a bit of Urban War (great minis and awesome rules). Not all of the VOID stuff was re-released, for example the Shuriken Guard I liked to were redesigned into Red Guard (I think).

Its a pity Urban Mammoth dont get more recognition, they are one of the best kept secrets around.

I agree. Some nice cars and mounts. I use the Triad cyborgs as alternative Commander Suits and the Archangels as alternative Eldar Swooping Hawks.

I found it, an example of my idea!

http://www.coolminiornot.com/179049

I'd make it a bit different by basicly doing the opposite of him by having the wings in the gaps, and where he has the sticks coming out I'd leave them as gaps to create almost triangular fins (like the macro art ones, but with only 3 much bigger fins, rather than lots of small ones). I'd also make the support of each wing straight, just because I would prefer it that way.

I also recon for practical reasons only my more elete troops would get them, as thats 30 less models to convert (which in an army of 50 odd is a lot :P)

With this idea in mind, plasticard came back as the #1 idea for the job, as it would esentially entail 6 flat wing sections and a support for them to go on, not to hard a job to do by scratch

Any sudjestions though?
