View Full Version : "The Bing" (Zombies/ Modern /Pulp)

"The Bing" was created on commission by Nikolai Ruskin in June, 2009 as a terrain piece for miniatures gaming (more pics at my site- follow the link below).

The design is an interior for use in a "bar brawl" type miniatures game using 28mm scale miniatures. The Real "Bada Bing" is a strip bar from the popular HBO series "The Sopranos", and became a big source of inspiration for this project about half way through building it. What began as a run down bar / pub suddenly evolved in to a Jersey strip joint while I was tinkering around with the layout for the stage. There is a staff only area for the dancers and an office for the mobsters that will be pictured here soon- check back again shortly.

EPIC FAIL!!!!!! - - - - - The poles arent brass :)

Very cool, even has cigarettes in the ash trays!!

Got a close-up on the neon sign over the bar, looks almost 3d.

Got an idea how many hours were spent on this one?

Simply amazing!

Could you take some pictures of some gangers trying to work their way through a horde of zombies in this? That would make my day! :D

Wow Dalanshin :D
Great attention to detail,
right down to the cigarette butts.

Nice work :D Some of my favorite scenes from that show were in that office.

Heh, you continue to post my favorite threads on this board. I can't get enough urban/modern terrain, and yours is always top notch. Mafia vs. Zombies is EPIC enough on its own, and it also sounds like a great episode of Deadliest Warrior lol. Can't wait to see some ravenous undead getting kneecapped and whacked. Cheers!

Fantastic detailing dude!

It so seedy looking! Don't eat the peanuts!
All you need now is a mini of a 40 year old stripper in there.

Do you have trouble giving up a project when you are done?
If I made this I would not want to sale it.

Tommygun > Yes, almost every time!! The thing that is great about a commission is that you are motivated to meet a deadline (something that does not always happen with personal stuff). What makes me feel better about giving it up is knowing that it will be appreciated by my client and taking lots of documentary photos so that I can review it in the future / show it off as examples of my work. There is always something new you learn on a project, so I also get that "next time I'll do this..." thought too.

OK, I'm off to find minis of 40 year old strippers... :)

"Howya doin'?"

I am in the process of adding more pics of "The Bing"; you'll find a menu allowing access to different parts of the club. More on it's way...

Here are a couple of the new shots:

"Hey Tony, here come the bar flies..."

"I smell a RAT!"

The Meeting Room:

The Dressing (or Un-dressing) Room

One thing worth mentioning is that the models that this bar was made for are LARGER than 28mm, so the bar is scaled to them (28mm figs and 25mm figs look too small in this joint). I'm looking up the manufacturer now...

I just posted some new stuff to the Stairwell section of The Bing, including an audio clip from my favorite film ever. I managed to paint up a 1/2 dozen Hasslefree Adventurers to take photos with and will be posting new pics frequently. Enjoy! :)

Great work!

I saw this on CMoN and thought "meh" but seeing it here with all the zombie and survivors running around I realize what a great piece it is. Kudos!

Hilarious comic too!

Great board, at first when I looked at it I though that was your gaming room! When I looked closer I realized it was the board! I think it's great and would make for some great games, anyway keep up the great work.
