ive onyl read the scaven book once, and i dont recall this at all but....we have one scaven player at the store that says the warplock engineer is a caster that only has one spell thats like a 9+ to cast and does 2d6 str 5 no armor save hits. i could have sworn i read they add 1 power dice to the pool but cannot cast spells?

can someone fill me in here?

You partial correct, they are a Lvl 1 spellcaster who can have an upgrade that can add +1 dice to the powerpool as well as another upgrade that does either d6 Str hits on a 5+ or 2d5 on a 9+

no armor save hits.

This is wrong, too.
The armor save is just modified by -2 (S5)

Yep the only no save spells are plague and pestilent breath. Priests can cast breath if they take the book.

They also have an upgrade to allow them to use 3 power dice to cast a spell (the usual maximum is 2 dice for a level 1 mage)

This allows them to cast on 3 dice (their own 2 + pool or warpstone token).

The spell has two casting values, 9+ and 6+ (could be 5+ but i dont think so) The lesser version only oes 1d6 hits, not 2d6.

9+ = 2D6 Str5 hits
5+ = D6 Str5 hits

Warp blades gives them the knowledge of the spell, and +1str in combat, if bought.

Power Accumulator item gives them +1 Power Dice, if bought.

Warp Energy Condenser gives them the ability to use one more dice than normal, so can cast with three dice, if bought.

Of course, with the new book soon arriving, in a few months, everything may be different. I don't like the rumours about the new Scaven Warplock Engineer's War Lightning.

Which rumour is that?

Check the very first post on the dreaded Scaven rumour thread that's been up for 3 months, provides nothing yet stubbornly refuses to die and withstands all petitions to change its title. It outlines the "rumoured changes" of Warplightning and other Clan Skyray goodies.

You know, I would have sworn that SKAVEN have a spell just like that, but its d6 S5, not d5.

You know, I appreciate good spelling and grammar, but I'm not as anally retentive as you. Who cares if they spell it wrong? Well, I do, but I don't point it out.

EDIT: Sorry if I sounded harsh. It wasn't intended.

*Sigh* Ain't it annoying that 99% of internet users don't give a damn about spelling and grammar...

And the usual excuse given is that "we are not at the school anymore".

Which makes me think that a lot of people apparently missed the point of why the grammar and spelling were taught in the first place: so that you could communicate effectively with people in writing.

No offense, as it was partly my fault, but do all topics on Warseer eventually derail, sort of like this?

Atrahasis

No, a lot of them derail in a useful or entertaining way.

Monty Python quotes are always useful for derailing threads - especially anything dealing with Bretonnians.
