I've been collecting Tau on and off since the release of their first codex, but Warhammer is usually my game of choice so they've been a bit neglected. However since my brother, dad and I haven't played 40K since 3rd edition it was time to get back into 41st century warfare. This is going to be a combined plog following my Tau and mainly my brother traitor guard and maybe my dads loyalist guard

Here are some completed and WIP units so far

Hopefully will get a combat patrol skirmish going to start testing units out, in the meanwhile I have several tanks, kroot and more firewarriors that need finishing.

feedback welcomed

And now for my part. I'll say now that you'll be forgiven for thinking that these are the loyal Guardsmen when in fact they are the traitors. Rule wise there is no difference at this early stage and for the most part will be played as regular 5th edition IG. As we progress though I intend to suppliment the rather fragile Guardsmen with some nice beefy Chaos Marines and other such nasties.
Anyways, to some pics

First of 3 Infantry Squads. The heavy weapon isn't finsihed yet as you can see... And yes, those are the covered helmets from Pig Iron.

A couple of shots of the armoured Sentinel. I've magnatised the weapon but don't have any other weapons painted so only the plasma cannon for now.

And a group pic of what I have finished so far.

WIP stuff now. Vet squad with meltas, complete with "grav-chutes"

And the longer ranged Vet squad with plasmas.

Chimera complete with what is becoming a fairly standard conversion. It's not very noticeable but I've cut the side skirts down by a few millimeters, this makes it a bit more like the new style Chimera/Hellhound hull. I've also magnitised the hull weapon and...

...hinged rear door and top hatch. No real reason for that tbh as there is no interior detail, but it does give me a place to store the other weapons and such.

And lastly, a pair of snipers.

That's it from me for now. C&C welcome of course. I hope to have the Vets finished soon now I have the colour scheme pretty much sorted and finish off the heavy weapons at some point...

I really like the Tau colour scheme, very different from the usual and it really stands out. works really well, so well done!
and cool IG, i like the gas mask heads.

Those sniper rifles look real good! What did you use as the front part of the scope?

yeah, gas mask heads are nice =D plus it means I don't have to paint faces xD

Scope was made with the Cadian vox antenna stuck through what was left of the kroot rifle.

Like the sniper rifles on those guardsmen. Did something similiar using shotguns and kroot rifle barrels on my SM scouts for cheap sniper rifles.

Also, the color scheme for those Tau is excellent. Kudos.

Ok, so RL took over and has but my GWing back a bit but I have been working on stuff and it seemed a shame to let this thread just die so here's some things.

One thing that put me behind was clearing and sorting my collection. I pulled out what I had of my Chaos force as I would be using them at some poitn so here they are. (Click for bigger pics)

The theme of my Chaos force was all going to be possessed. Whatever the unit was, I was going to convert them to look possessed.
Since then, they changed the Codex, so I don't fancy taking units of possessed anymore but I am still going to model them all like that cuz it looks intresting and is more fun to model. These were done serveral years ago and I never got round to finishing them. Soon though... maybe

Forgeworld Dread with the arm from the Inquisitor scale Kroot like thing. It also used to have a modified Tyranid arm coming out the top but this, along with some of the other models got a bit knocked about and its broken off.

Simple conversion done to the Daemon Prince. This needs fixing too really and they all need a new paint job...

A heavily modified Land Raider. Only really legal in Apoc if I left it as is but none of the weapons are glued in so I can revert it back to a Codex Land Raider.
Built it when VDR first came out, dunno why tbh but again, it was fun to build. I had planned to add a lot more mutation to it but only got as far as the Minotaur arm with a with a chiansaw sticking out the front.

And the orginal heresy Netherlord. This took quite a hit in storage and is now held together by bluetac and gravity...

And now some more WIP stuff. Even though I'm entirely finished with my last lot of WIP... I guess I get distracted by new things too easily. but this is the part I like most about this hobby so it's all good.

Firstly a unit of Raptors. All converted from plastics and all still keeping with the theme of possessed Khornate marines.

Might be hard to see but the special weapons have been magnetised so they can run different roles.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c335/lhunaira/40K/Raptors-1.jpg (http://www.saphfire-creative.com/nades/Raptors-1.jpg)

And the same has been done to the champion.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c335/lhunaira/40K/Raptors-3.jpg (http://www.saphfire-creative.com/nades/Raptors-3.jpg)

Termy Lord with forgeworld bits and chainglaive? I'll play it as whatever it needs to be, Chainfist, Daemon Weapon whatever. Currently all held together by bluetac. I'm waiting for some larger magnets to be delivered then I was going to magnatise his arms as well as the Termy unit when I get round to them.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c335/lhunaira/40K/Lord-1.jpg (http://www.saphfire-creative.com/nades/Lord-1.jpg)

Only other thing I'm working on is a Vindicator. Didnt think it was worth posting at this stage though as its pretty much standard. Later however though I was going to use plasticard to cover the whole where the cannon goes and make like a window/front panel of sorts so I can use it as a regular Rhino if I need to. I'll also magnatise the dozer so that can be add/removed as needed. It'll end up looking like an armoured Rhino though as it just seemed too fiddely to make all the vindicator armour parts removable.
If anyone has had a go at this though and has some tip then I'd love to hear them.
For now though thats all. Cheers
